choosing a proper product

I have chosen weight loss niche. I want to try the product myself first so that I can provide an honest review including my own pics and personel story. I found some good digital products ( I'm oppsed to diet pills)in clickbank. The problem is,
their gravities are too high (from 150 to 350). I'm not gonna use PPC. I'm gonna try organic traffic.
Should I keep away from these products for they are too competetive?

some of the products' gravities are decreasing continously. Does that mean these products are oversaturated and can not be sold anymore?

Are there any other affiliate programs which I can find good productss?

Thanks...

Most people think of gravity as a pretty useless stat as there are so many different variables that can make that number fluctuate. Generally, though, I won't promote anything over a gravity of around 80-100.

Another thing to keep in mind is to not send any traffic to a site with leaks on it. Any sales page with an opt in box or God forbid any affiliate links is not something that I would promote. There's no reason to send traffic to a page that has potential to drive that traffic away from the offer.

That just about goes for me, too, I think.

But I agree that "gravity" isn't the greatest selection-criterion, altogether.

      Completely agree with this, also.

My own checklist of "selection-criteria" is here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post2161932

(It refers specifically to ClickBank products, but many of the criteria apply equally to other products elsewhere, and the general principles are the same).

The big markets like the weight loss industry should never intimidate you. If that's where your interest lies, your content will shine above any other half hearted internet marketer, who got involved in this niche only to profit from it.

Gravity and popularity should not be interpreted as competition. You really should not put too much weight to the gravity numbers.. Popularity is like a viral thing.. And there're even *blue fart* methods to cheat you way to a high clickbank gravity. What I'm saying is that once affiliates see a product is popular, they forget about all the other products and usually just go with it - without looking at the sales page, the videos and the overall product, from the buyers perspective.

You should always judge the product's presentation of itself, and ask yourself, "would I like to buy this?" The product should make you so curious that you cannot help hitting the order button. Who cares if this product is new? If you like it, chances are other people will like it as well, right?

One more thing about gravity and the misconception of relating gravity to saturation and competition.

The competition would certainly be tough and your time is most likely used better, than to try and rank for the product name + review/bonus/discount and other varitations.

But that doesn't mean that every single keyword out there is taken. Actually from Google own mouth:

"20 to 25% of the queries we see today, we have never seen before"

    Just a tip:

If you build your website around 1-3 main keywords, do NOT try to rank for those keywords in the beginning. You'll just be disappointed.

Write content on your site where the main keywords is part of a longer tail variation. Use your backlinking efforts on these blog post / article pages and make it your first goal to rank for these terms.

Having a good pr distrubution and internal linking structure (contextual backlinks with natural varying anchor text), and NOT making the same mistake as everyone else who totally misunderstands on page seo, will get you a third of the way, at least.

What I mean is that you should not do onpage seo by going through a checklist saying:

(this is a do-NOT do list btw)

    • keywords in the first and last sentence (even if i takes no sense)
    • keywords bolded, italized and underlined
    • keywords as anchor text multiple times and in every single post
    • keyword density (hmm okay let's at least mention the keyword 1 time per 150 words and you're fine)
    • etc.

Use your logic sense, your drive should be your passion, and don't hesitate to buy the products and bust them if they don't deliver to their promise - request a refund immediately!

I hope I didn't get too carried away, and too offtopic
