Domain Auto Renewal Question

I know that many domain registrars have coupon codes that can be used for renewals. But as far as I know they can only be used for manual renewals and not for auto renewals.

Does anyone know a way to apply a coupon code to upcoming auto renewals?

For example if I manually renew the fee may be $7 with a coupon but if the domain auto renews it will be at full price of $12 or whatever because the coupon code isn't used.

If I'm not able to use a coupon code I may reconsider the pros and cons of auto renewing my domains.

    Depending on how many domains you own, you can usually get a member's club type of discount on volume even with auto renewal on. For example, Go Daddy has their Discount Domain Club - for $89.99 you get auto renewal rates of $7.87 per domain, which pays for itself in about 20 domain renewals.
