How do I make money with craigslist?

First of all, Hi!

I am new to the forum and am reading about all of you that use craigslist to make money. I assume that you do not actually sell physical products as that would be a pain in the arse. So what is it that you all make 3-5K a month with?

I don't need 3-5K but I am looking for something that I can put in 5-10 hours a week and make a little bit of cash.

So if anybody could guide me along like a good mother duck I would be very appreciative!

Best Regards,
Graphicfett

Well what is your product or service? I was just saying in a different post that 40%-70% of my sales comes from craigslist and my biggest hassle is making posts.

Give me an idea of what your offering and I will try to help you out as much as I can.

Maybe sell stuff on there, or find a decent 9-5 job on there.

Learn how the system works and offer the businesses in your area "craigslist marketing services". Charge a monthly retainer with the first month of service for half the price of what you would usually charge.

You can charge $97 and more per month. How much you charge will depend on the amount of work you will do for the business (e.g. how many posts per week/month, content creation for ads, graphics work, etc...)

You should target businesses that are already spending money with other businesses (e.g YellowPages.com)

    Thanks!

I do not actually have a product. I do website design and graphic design. I have a bit of experience writing and posting ads in craigslist for different things that I needed to sell and always seemed to sell them for the original high price. (I was selling used things that I didn't need anymore and stuff like that) I would be happy to post for other people or as Eddie said "Learn how the system works and offer the businesses"

Can you clarify more on what you mean about making business? Charge people to post their ads for them at $97 a month? I can do that but I am not sure if that is what you were saying.

    Thanks for the replies!

I don't really know what you are saying here.

Well, the way you put it, you make it sound like you are going to find people who need help posting ads and simply charge them a price to do it for them

That is not what I mean.

      What I am saying is...

Combine internet marketing (advertising on craigslist) and offline business to make a nice income.

Develop marketing packages that you can offer businesses in your local area. Offer these marketing packages for a monthly price.

Find businesses (that offer a service or sell products) that are not utilizing craigslist to bring in potential customers.

Many offline businesses will not know how to bypass the craigslist ghosting system. They will not know how to get multiple ads up in craigslist every week. They will not want to manage multiple craigslist accounts. And they will not want to bother writing copy and making graphics for their ads.

Sell them on the idea of advertising on craigslist and then offer them a service that can help them get their business in front of craigslist's website viewers.

I have done this in the past. It works.

        Helpful comments everyone

I've heard of craigslist ghosting, but is there a way to get around it manually? How do you post multiple ads each day and get multiple phone verified accounts?

Also, has anyone used CLAD Genius before?

        Thanks.

As many have already alluded to, Craigslist is a game all unto itself. People try to beat the system and the fine moderators over there do what they can to prevent it. People study it for years before being able to master it. There are CL experts on here but they're busy making money and only occasionally pop in to give their two cents. If you were one of those experts, would you want to give away your trade secrets so readily?

Do as much searching around the forum as you can. There's quite a few CL threads that can get you started. Good luck

There are ways to avoid ghosting and get your ads up in multiple locations.
          1. You must write good ads no spam type phrases like "Get Paid" or "Make Money".
          2. You must have a way to change your IP.
          3. There are ways to create your own geo-located PVA accounts.

    Thanks!

    I will study up on:
    1) Multiple Accounts
    2) Writing to advertise (AKA writing in a way that people will buy my product)

How would I go about finding customers?

A little off topic but is there a good thread on the basics of SEO?

Craigslist is great because there is so many services you can provide to get paid for. Since you have do a service to provide, "web design and graphic design", you can always create listings for your services.

Otherwise, as Eddie pointed out to you, you can monetize your local offline market by doing some research. Look in the yellow pages and find the companies that do not have an online presence and contact them to see if they would like any craigslist service through you. Good luck!

Thanks for all of the tips!

I have been browsing my yellow pages and found that a lot of companies really don't have websites. I live in a very rural area at the moment.

So would it be a good idea to contact them and sell them a website and the craigslist advertising for a month spool? Or should I just sell one or the other?

I am trying to learn a bit more about SEO so that I can charge my web design clients to keep their websites at the top of the Google search pages but I have not stumbled upon anything with great resources on SEO.

Do any of you do something like charge the customer $100 a month for SEO and then outsource to someone else for $50? I hope you understand what I mean by this.
