Yup, that's true and that's the real problem... it seems to me that many people come here in search for easy money without any work involved, investments and so on... that's annoy me too...

Zamzung, unfortunately that's life. Making money on the Internet is portrayed as being easy, so it attracts people who don't have anything to invest in their business. In fact it attracts people who don't even realise that it is a real business.

Fernando, if people get upset at the answer you give so what. All that matters is that you give the best answer you can. Whether they take it on board or not is entirely up to them. You've lost nothing (other than a little time) by trying to help them.

Actually, when people don't want to hear what we have to say, the best thing to do is to say it anyway, because the next person who will come to the thread most likely won't be "blinded by ego."

There seems to be a new breed of posters these days, I can't compliment them and call them Warrior's because, well, they're not Warrior's, they are just posters. Nothing more. People who expect, nay demand to get everything they can for nothing.

Guys and gals who post up, for example, in the Copywriting Forum asking for advice to help them with their current conversion rate. More than a few very experienced copywriters chirp in, offer their advice and lo and behold the OP can't even say a simple thank you for their time and expertise or free advice rendered / given to them.

And some of these posters who do reply... they start getting into a disagreement with those kind professionals proffering their advice won on years of hard direct experience in the field.

I mean seriously, every professional copywriter I know including myself has been in the advertising and marketing field for many years. One or two of us including myself, self employed for a few decades.

We've not only chalked up a mere 10,000-15,000 hours in the field but probably something more akin to 100,000-150,000 hours plus over the course of a few decades.

If we offer advice based on our professional experience, take it on the chin and apply it. Don't waffle some BS back at us thinking you know better.

There's nothing worse than a complete greenhorn trying to tell an old hand how something works or how it's done when you've only been in the game for a matter of weeks or months online.

When advice is given to you, don't take it personally, just accept the advice for what it is... advice which quite possibly, upon being implemented into a plan of action, could actually start helping you to make some money.

This is all us professional marketers are interested in, helping ourselves and others to make some more moolah.

At least show some appreciation when this kind of free advice is offered to you.

Show some gratitude.

Say thank you. I mean...

...what is this world coming to when people just expect / demand everything to be handed to them on a plate all the time?

That is exactly right. Both the asker and the answerer(s) have provided tremendous value to the folks who find the thread by doing a Google search, hoping to solve the exact same problem being addressed.

Regardless of emotion, the wisdom has been laid out for the next guy's (or gal's) benefit.

Some of it is that they don't really want advice they're just sig pimping/branding/promoting then it blows up in their face. But a lot of it is just human nature.

Many people want others to affirm or confirm what they already think. I've seen some people here get tons of great advice, ignore all of it and then run out to the marketplace and fail miserably. And then in a month or two they come back with the exact same situation asking the exact same questions. And they're still looking for people to agree. So it goes... :rolleyes:

That's a very insightful observation sir. People want validation and when that doesn't happen some can react defensively. A primary reason for sharing information online is validation - we want to test our POV and see if others confirm it. It's not unique to WF by any means, it's just human nature.

What escapes some people is that you learn more when your POV is challenged than you do when it's simply confirmed. I know I do and I try not to get defensive, I try to simply be grateful someone took the time to offer some perspective. However, nobody is perfect and I certainly have my share of "thin skin" moments.

As dad always says: We fall so we can learn to rise.

As David pointed out, there are doers, lurkers and builders in communities. Personally, I'm going to say thank you right here and now to those in this community who actively try to help others. I believe the majority appreciate your efforts and consideration.

I agree with the OP, it seems to me that I see a lot of people looking for the answers they want rather than looking for the answers that are correct. Its sad because not only are they wasting our time, but they will almost certainly never achieve what they set out to because of their closed minded methods of "taking advice".

A guy drives his car and notices a screeching noise every time he turns corners.

So he heads to the mechanic for his advice.

The mechanic takes a look at the car and says, 'The brake pads are worn out and that's causing the noise, they need to be replaced. It would cost you $x.'

The guy replies, 'F*** you, you are a liar, a scumbag, I know there is nothing wrong with my car. You just want to rip me off', gets into his car, slams his door and drives away.

Some of those people who those threads already know the answers. They create the thread just so they can get traffic to their signature link. It's ridiculous, but it's true.

  This isn't new. It's been going on for as long as there have been people. The first time I heard this complaint "online" was in a Fidonet echo, at 300 baud.
  
  Complaining about it is roughly as productive as griping about the "Which autoresponder is best" threads, or folks who argue without reading.

You can make up your own ending, but the point was that many folks here have that guy's attitude. They post here asking for advice and when they read something that they don't want to hear, they come out with their guns blazing at the people who are trying to help them.

People are inherently lazy, I think - that's why there are so many "questions" that can be easily answered by just doing a simple forum or internet search. Or they just want a confirmation of what they already know, or should know.

And then there of course are the spammers and those trying to increase their post count ...

I've noticed that very thing. People ask for questions they get answers and then they get super offended that everything isn't rainbows and unicorns. It seems so silly. But hey what are you going to do? There's always going to be bozos.
