What's Your Favourite Free Software??

Hi guys!

I'm curious about what your favourite free software is and why you like it so much?

I can start the list by saying Jing. Jing is a cool free screenrecording software that works perfectly well if you're new to the IM world and doesn't have money to spend on Camtasia for instance. Jing does what you need to be done when starting out as a newbie

Let's hear any others??

Kindest,
Joachim

    Jing is an awesome tool.

I don't think I can name a single piece of software as my favorite, but WordPress & Firefox would tie for the top spot I think.

I'm on a Mac now, but back when I was on the PC, I loved Winamp (still do).

It's easy to use, and if all you want is to play your songs, iTunes is overkill.

Winamp's playlist features, along with its plugins are great, and it isn't resource hungry either.

        And plus, it's free

That's weird. I actually gave up on it because it had become a bloated resource hog. I find that foobar does everything winamp can do and more...without pushing adware on you.

I'm a long-time WinAmp freak myself - the current version is somewhat bloated (still less bloated than WMP), but if you're low on resources, ver. 2 is still great! Love the visualization plugins

There's a lot of free softwares you can use when first starting out though. We've already mentioned a chosen few, but I know a lot more too. They are of course not as good as paid ones, as you mention, but some of them will do the job perfectly well.

It's a tie: Thunderbird with the free Quicktext plugin and Skype. I have over 70 canned responses programmed into Quicktext...it's a real time-saver. Skype is Skype...I have Kevin Riley to thank for getting me hooked on that.

Hmm...just noticed, my two favorite programs are communication tools.

The last version I remember using is WinAmp 5 which ran well on my system, and no adware, and since I used the Classic player anyway, it wasn't too hard on the CPU. WinAmp 3 is great too.

Not too sure about the latest version : )

Oh, beloved NotePad++ - if there's one piece of software that I miss on my Mac, it HAS to be Notepad++. It makes everything so simple. I've tried some alternatives for the Mac, but none come close in ease of use (for me).

I was just going to list Notepad++ on this topic. It's my all time favorite. I started using it for html, css and xml, but it's biggest job on my puter now is text. It handles text so well that it's my default text editor and any small text file is saved as .txt, not as a Word docx.

It's too bad they had to go with a 4 syllable name, so I refer to it as notepad. I refer to the MS offering as notepad minus minus.

Did try Mac and mine was a lemon. Won't be going back anyway, but if I ever felt like that, not being able to use notepad would stop the thought in an instant.

My favorite free software is one I recently discovered. It's a software that helps you find blog posts using Google Blog Search related to your keywords. This is very useful for me when I need ideas to create original content by curating relevant and most updated information related to my niche.

It saves time for people who struggle to create original content. It also allows me to generate better content more frequently.

You can click on the link in my signature. When on my blog, click on the "blog" tab on the top, look for the post entitled "Step-by-Step Guide To Content Creation".

If you don't have time to read the post, just skip to the end of the post and find it under "Free Tool".

(sorry I couldn't post a link here as I'm new to this forum )

    Hi,
Love Wordpress blogs. However I find Wordpress is best if one has own domain name and webhosting and the free domain version doesn't allow plug ins.

Also like the Really Simple Facebook Twitter Share Buttons for Wordpress. Very simple and easy to use - even though it only has a 3 star rating - I took the risk and have been very happy with it.

Also like Platinum SEO as a free plug in for Wordpress. Quite extensive.

Yep and I like Mozilla Firefox as a browser - I end up changing all my friends browsers (with their permission of course) to this and they are much happier for the change.

Thanks for the Tip about Traffic Travis - am downloading as I speak and look forward to checking it out?
