Twitter and Amazon Affiliate

I saw a pretty big twitter account apparently tweeting Amazon affiliate links.

Does Amazon allow that? Do u get paid? (Forget just for a minute whether or not followers like it or not or whehter it is in good taste.)

I can only find old sources on the subject and they say 'no', but I'm wondering if there's been a change in policy?

    Well, when you're logged into your Amazon Associates account and browsing Amazon, one of the buttons in your Associates toolbar at the top of the screen is "Share on Twitter". Can't see how they'd have a problem with it if they've built the functionality right into the system.

    I do not know if that's legal, but if people do not know you, like you and trust you, they won't buy. Everyone follows everybody else on Twitter without any connections, trust and relationship whatsoever, just because it's cool to have a lot of followers.

    Well, what's the point of the followers if they do not respond to you or trust you?
