Amazon s3/eazy video player help!

Hi I am attempting to do my first site with optimize press, amazon S3, and eazy video player. My question is when I am in eazy video player and it says to upload a video shouldnt I be uploading it from amazon s3? It only gives me the option of browsing through my computer. Isnt the whole idea of using amazon s3 is that it plays from there and not the computer? Thanks Im super confused!

No. Easy Video Player acts as the 'middleman' between you and amazon S3. So, EVP is asking you for a file (.mp4 preferably) from your computer. Once you click upload, it's 'sending' your file to your Amazon S3 account. Then, EVP provides you with your settings and then ultimately your embed code. Basically, you don't need to go into S3 anymore.

Thanks that answer totally makes sense! So what was the purpose of using the s3 plug in and creating a bucket first with the same video in my s3 account? Did I not need to do this?

EVP creates its own folder in your s3 account. When you upload via evp it goes
into this new folder/bucket...it looks like f6ehkjhe7yehgey6e5t443vgdjsjs or similar.

Are you signed up to cloudfront in s3? Cloudfront allows your video to download/stream more quickly via s3's edge servers.

Also its important to add that you can use .mov with EVP but they wont work with EVP and Cloudfront.

I found this out the hard way.

Amazon S3 provides speed and deliverability for all videos you post. Just go to settings and click on "Yes, I want to use Amazon S3 to host my files."

Enter your Access and Secret key to get started.

If you do not have much traffic, you can use your current hosting company to host the videos, but the bandwidth would be lower and the buffering slower. It would be OK if you do not have much traffic.

Here's another alternative. You upload YouTube videos, where you are using Google's servers to load the videos. It's still a good deal.
