I have been getting a lot of emails from people on my list asking
me the same question's over and over about bum marketing. So i
figured there might be some of you out there wondering the same
things.

Hope this helps...

First question i get a lot is how to find a niche.

Well first off you want to think of problem that a lot of people have
and when they come across this problem they are going to want a quick
answer. I can almost guarantee you that anyone who has a problem the
first place they will go for an answer is the internet. Why because its
quick and most of the time its good information. Then of course this is
where you would come in writing articles about how to solve there problems
and pointing them to affiliate products but im not going to go over that
part because thats the part most people seem to understand.

But still people say I know I want to find a niche by solving someone's
problem but i can't think of anything.

One free tool that i have found very useful for finding niche's is
Yahoo Answers. Just keep refreshing the front page and question after
question will come up I can sit there refreshing yahoo answer's home
page for 30 minuets at a time. If 30 minuets of refreshing is all i need
to find a good niche then it is well worth my time. As well you can also
plug your keywords into yahoo answers this way you can see if people are
searching for answers on that keyword because if peopler are then you know
it is going to be well worth it to write articles around that keyword.

Another question i get frequently is how many articles shoudl i write a day?

There really is no exact answer to this question if you can write 5 great if
you can write 1 great.

But what you should not be doing is writing 5 peice of Sh!t articles. That is
the worst thing that you can do. Because you are going to waste an hour or two
of your time and get nothing out of it. I think that this is one of the biggest
mistakes people new to IM make. You have to remeber that you are trying to get
people to buy the product you are affiliate if you write an article with bad spelling
no periods... No one is going read past the first paragraph of your article
meaning they will never click the link to your affiliate product meaning No sales
and no money.

So my advice is instead of writing 5 shitty articles a day write 1 Great article
everyday the results will be much better.

    Hey Eric,

Thanks for this helpful post! I read somewhere that article marketing is one of the few places where quantity is actually better than quality. Obviously I can't spew out garbage and hope people read it, but as long as my articles are decent, I think I'd rather have half a dozen adequate articles rather than one excellent one because I'd get more backlinks. That's what I think about it anyway.

I went niche digging last night and found a few potentially profitable ones, so I'm going to check those on Yahoo Answers like you said and see how many are asking about them. I'm also going to start cranking out articles as soon as I can. On a day off, I'm pretty sure I could out a couple dozen similar articles (but unique in the directories' eyes) on a niche before burning out. I looked on EZA and some of my chosen niches only have a few hundred articles

Anyway, thanks again for the tips!

Just from my experience i feel that bum marketing is just about making the sale not about building up back links to your squidoo lens.

Though back links are very helpful for seo and article marketing

Bum marketing is great, of that there is no doubt. However, what I'd like to see is how most people transition from bum marketing to other methods of marketing.

I have my ideas, but I'm curious what others think.

I like to use Ezine primarily and use hubpages, squidoo, and weebly to create more links both to my site and my articles.

          Nathan,

The transition from Bum Marketing to other areas of marketing are nothing more than natural progression, if you have the "push ahead" mentality.

A year ago when I started, I was doing nothing but Bum Marketing. Now I have my hands in membership sites, some paid advertising, creating products, software projects, MLM, Adsense, and anything else that I deem to be a reliable income stream.

Bum Marketing really allowed me to learn the ropes and see the "way things worked". Look at the process from the outside in when things are rolling for you and you will know exactly what I am talking about.

            Jeremy,

Let me ask you this. What strategies did you move towards when the process of bum marketing starting becoming more time than it was worth? Did you outsource it, or just stop doing it entirely? I know now that you teach how to do it rather than doing it yourself, but aside from places like the WF, how else do you market your sites and ventures?

I just created a review lens for a product. In the next few days, I plan on writing a whole bunch of articles and submit them to EZA, goarticles, articlesbase, and articlecity. I'm not sure what the review period is for articlecity, but EZA takes awhile. The middle two I mentioned there usually review my articles within a couple days which is why I like them.

Then I'm going to social bookmark to my heart's desire until I rank really well for my keyword phrases I'll probably set-up a hub using a glob of a few of my articles, nothing fancy.

      Curtis,

If you are talking about social bookmarking your articles, that has kind of lost its luster a bit...

Most of the bookmarking sites that are worth your time won't even accept submissions from EZA or GoArticles. As alternatives, you might want to consider the following.

      1. RSS Feeds - Straight feeds from your author profile and single article feeds as well as mixed feeds from articles with similar keywords.

      2. Blog Commenting - Self explanatory

      3. Interlink articles from other directories to your articles at EZA or Goarticles.

Many of the resources that we have been tapping for a while like the social bookmarking sites and such are slowly starting to close the doors on us for some of the things we liked to use them for

Time to get a little creative

Not quite, I'm talking about bookmarking my review lens. I agree with your 3 points though, that stuff is important

Yea also once you have found a niche and set up a squidoo you can answer questions and drive a pretty good amount of traffic that way.

axileon....you would have to create a landing page, blog, or squidoo lens promoting whatever you want to promote with your affiliate link. You can then add the url of your site in your source box. that's the best way...i've learned.
