INTERNET MARKETING

As we get closer and closer to 2012, a lot of my fellow Warriors are afraid of what tomorrow might hold for their businesses.

It would seem that the forces of evil are aligning against us, to destroy our ability to do business in 2012...

I started my business during a very dark time in history, just 8 days after 9/11.

Other businesses started during a recession include the household brands mentioned in this story:

But as the story is being told now, recession is the least of our problems going into 2012...

It is said that the Mayans predicted the end of the world on December 21st, 2012... But I plan on spending Christmas Day 2012 watching Dr. Who re-runs and the 2012 Dr. Who Christmas Special...

Yep, last night's episode was awesome as usual, but few people doubted that it would deliver the goods...

It is bad enough that the world is supposed to end in 2012, but if the Mayans were somehow wrong, Google, YouTube, the FTC, and the U.S. Congress are going to make sure that we little people are crushed under the boot of oppression...

Or, so the story goes...

Those of us who own businesses that have been or are successful have gotten to be successful by overcoming challenges set in our paths...

But in 2012, the challenges to be put into our paths are going to be so very high!!!

Yes, the sky is falling in 2012...

We have come to the end of the road for our businesses!!!

It has been foretold...

Dear Store Manager,

I am applying for the position of check-out clerk at Walmart because internet marketing ceased to be viable in 2012.

My qualifications include:

1. Firing my last boss.
2. Promoting digital products and ideas digitally.
3. Having an entrepreneurial spirit.
4. Believing the grass is greener on my side of the fence because I collected so much BS over the years.

As well as the Mayan calendar predicting doom for the world in 2012, there are predictions of:

1) A pole shift that will end the world in 2012
2) A galactic alignment that will also end the world in 2012
3) Planet X, aka Nibiru, is due to collide with planet Earth in 2012
4) Solar storms are predicted to destroy the Earth in 2012
5) The star Betelgeuse will become a supernova in 2012, which probably won't be good for us, and if not, damnit - it still sounds good
6) The Russian newspaper Pravda published a story where they reckoned that an alien invasion of Earth is due in 2012
7) A planetary alignment in December of 2012 will rip planet Earth apart
8) The I Ching has predicted the end of the world in 2012, according to Terence McKenna, who arrived at this conclusion while eating magic mushrooms in the mid 1970s (no, really!)
9) Indian guru, Kalki Bhagavan says that 2012 is the deadline for human enlightenment, and after that there's no hope
10) Ancient Egyptian predictions, according to some, say that 2012 is the final year for mankind
11) Nostradamus predicted the end of the world in 2012, and if he didn't, he certainly should have done with everyone else getting in on the act
12) The book of Revelations in the Bible probably predicts it too, and after all, why not?

OK, so if all these predictions actually happen, then I guess we're really f*****!

Personally, I don't think we should worry. Remember the Millennium bug that was going to destroy life as we know it? That was just a few years ago, and nothing very bad happened. If we learn from the stupid hysteria and paranoia of that non-event, we'll do just fine.

Actually something very dramatic happened...consultants and IT companies around the world made a lot of money addressing issues...

In 2012 something similar is going to happen....someone is going to make a lot of money from people who choose to believe.

  LOL, that's for sure... I wonder if they will just pick another year so they can keep on with it.
  
  Personally, I don't see the point in worrying about any of it, I mean if the world is going to end there's not much I can do about it so for me it's business as usual.

I predict I am going to be sitting in my chair that day enjoying the commissions I will be earning from Amazon thanks to Christmas, kind of like this year, but hopefully even better.

There is no point in thinking of the end of the world. It is counter productive. Unless you are in that niche and trying to profit from it

Govt will always dig their hands deeper into our pockets, big businesses will always be looking to flatline us, and business climate will be in constant change.

I think 2012 promises to be a massive year of change for most people. And with change comes opportunity -- and risk. Managing risk and opportunity well has always been a key business principle.

As for the Mayans, I find it exciting that they couldn't see past 2012. That says to me that the future hasn't been written yet, and we all can play a significant role in creating a desirable future.

I don't care about all these things.

Sure they're interesting to read about but at the end of the day - you're alive RIGHT NOW.

And NOW is the only time you have so you should just make sure you're enjoying it - then the end is just a detail rather than the definition.

Since no Mayan literature found to this date states anything about the end of the world being in 2012 - I have to say that whoever the marketer(s) was/were that started that one are extremely efficient. I am writing an ebook right now for which I would LOVE to have them devise my marketing plan.

As of this date I've not been able to track them down, but there is one dude that heads a religious group that I think might have ties to it. He's been preparing his disciples and teaching them about "harnessing" and working with different daily energies for around a decade now (at least). Mayans did have very solid philosophical and religious ideas that were based on energy.
Anyway - for my money he might have been the marketer....er....um...enlightened one who started this whole controversy. Man I wish I were that good at promotion as that guy is.

Predicting the end of the world has been a booming industry for centuries. And the beautiful thing about it is when it doesn't happen you can simply pick a new date with new supporting mumbo jumbo and you're good to go for another run. Talk about evergreen.

I don't believe in that "world will end in 2012." story but I'm pretty sure we will face some new "situations" with our businesses in the next year... but, I would say that's nothing new... we had recessions in the past too, so that's nothing new... internet is changing all the time, so we just need to wait to see what will big guys change this time, and of course, adopt to it... I believe world will not end in 2012. and we will still need to run our businesses, so we need to adopt to changes and new business policies if there will be any, and it will...

For me I don't care will the world end in 2012 or not. But I am very sure that INTERNET Marketing remain will alive till the last moment and the day of doom. I think Web Development for Mobile device and SEO for android , iphone and other apps gonna make a new high in Internet Marketing Field.
