The way forward for me

Hi,
I have been online for over 2 years now. I have made some money during this period but nothing major. I have over 300 articles at Hubpages over these two years. I have a few domains with me but have never got started with them as I feel it intimidating to design a site and I don't have money to outsource it. Right now I write for Iwriter.com and making some money, just about enough to pay for food and the bills. I don't make too much from my Hubpages articles, just about $50. I want to build a passive stream of income or any other stream of incime which is more stable. I would appreciate any suggestions and help. I just need to try and get to $500-700/ month on a consistent basis.Thanks.

    Hi there,

I'm pretty new here on WF but I hope that I can help out as many people as possible. Now that that's out of the way let's talk business. Do you enjoy writing? I get a hunch you do or you wouldn't be using it as your income stream! Why not sell your services here on WF? There are literally thousands of posts on here of people looking for articles writing services. As long as you provide unique content you could make yourself a killing! If you won't want to work directly with clients my only other suggestion is possibly an ebook though make sure not to call it that on writing unique content for niche websites. There are so many options and it really truly is about what you are passionate for! I wish you the best of luck and if you need any help feel free to keep in touch with me

It's funny you mentioned $500-700 per month on a consistent basis, because these are the numbers I am making now And I am the one thinking, it's not enough - haha.

Most of my money comes from AdSense ads placed on my websites. I have the advantage of knowing how to make websites from early age. You seem to avoid the idea of building your own website.

However, I am afraid you are going to have to explore that avenue. Mostly because your own website gives you full control over what you are doing. When you submit your articles to other sites, you give away the same articles that could be making a consistent income for you, not just one flat fee. One of my articles alone made $5,000 over a long period of time, and I only spent 3 hours writing it!

Also, get yourself into personal development now. Start exploring new creative ideas.

The hubpages Panda hit must have effected you, that's the problem being at the mercy of a free host, (not to mention the 60/40split) some marketers have used hubpages primarily as a backlink source for their main site.

Free Google owned Blogger.com blogs allow adsense but don't take a percentage, your allowed to use your own domain name with them, which you could transfer to a paid host at a later date, Google seems tolerant of affiliate links providing useful content accounts for the majority of the page area.

You can easily make your own Wordpress blog on a paid host for around $5-$9 / month, perhaps less for the first year, putting your fate in your own hands, be sure you get a host with unlimited domains so you can add more blogs for the $11/yr domain cost.

Setting up a website really isn't that hard! Don't think that you can't do it!

Wordpress is a super simple way to create a website and most hosting providers include fantastico or something similar that installs wordpress in seconds.

Once you have that up then add content, adds, and what not. It really isn't too difficult.

You can set up a website with a cheap HostGator account and a domain name. Looks like you've already got the domain name. This way you can build traffic, which will help you monetize. It's always dangerous building a business on sites you don't own.

I feel your pain. I had went a similar route to you with article marketing only mine were on ezine. I did a bunch of work writing articles and submitting them. I still get decent traffic from my articles but conversions are crap compared to before. I had also started to make some decent money from adsense but that got wiped out this year too.

I have moved over to paid advertising this year and it is the best thing I have ever done.

If you do this you have so many options, you don't have to pour months of hard work into stuff that could be wiped out overnight. If someone bans you, go somewhere else and start straight back up again.

I know the idea of a passive income is a nice one but in reality it can be hard to pull off. All the work you do today could be worthless in 6 or 12 months time. This game moves so fast that you have to be able to move with it.
