So How Much do Most IMers Make? When have you made it??

My question is simple but based on something very general. Most businesses fail, restaurants to car dealerships. It's a fact. I assume that most IMers fail: lack of trying, no coaching, to much time on Warrior forum and not enough working on their sites.

I have recently broken through and I'm happy to report that I have surpassed several thousand for the month of December. This is after years of trying and failing. Not enough to quit my job but enough to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

But I wonder for those of you willing to divulge how much do you make? and what is your best guess at: the percentage who fail and quit, and what percent ever make over $1,000 per month?

I'm guessing that 90% quit before ever reaching the 1k per month and
that only 5% of those who start ever break the 1k per month mark. But I would love to hear what others think or if anyone has found research that talks about this?

  • Re: What Makes You Elite?

Me, because I say so. :p

The number of dollars don't really make me anything except a hero to my family and a tax payer according to the IRS.

The important thing is that I make enough money that I don't need to have a job, and I haven't needed a job since March of 2005. Rock on!!

  • You're going to find that most people feel that posting how much they make in an unsecure Web setting isn't advisable for a number of reasons many of which should be pretty obvious.

    • Fair... Very Fair...
    • Hmmm. People really hung on the word elite huh? Didn't intend to sound snooty or make others seem that way if they have had some success. As to anyone who has left a job to do this full time. I personally would call you elite Your my hero's too!

1st. Didn't intend to sound as if I was calling myself elite. Really I'm just tired of seeing the word Guru

      2nd. Very PC answers.

    • Interesting... I see this quite often... didn't expect this reaction... Well I'm willing to take this opportunity to learn. Please elaborate.

  • The key is 'how much more than you need, do you make?'.

So long as that number stays in the positive, things are generally going ok
  • Kudos to you! Isn't that a great feeling?

I don't think there's a need to pigeon-hole oneself into groups of "elite" etc. - I'm just content to be the hero to me family.
  • Income is just income man that does not make anyone more elite than the next. We all move at our own pace in this industry and some do better than others faster when starting out. What make me an elite marketer is because I DO more talk less. What I learned from anyone making a living at this is they busy "making a living at this". Take some action and you'll be elite in no time.

    • remember than google and facebook are valued way off the books. It's called the potential. Going this path someone who makes nothing for a decade might got a 100m offer for a site that hasn't made a penny

Well this year I didn't break into the five figure range (I started late and have been doing services only) but did have a month where I broke the 1k mark. I think that anyone who is willing to go through the grind it takes to perfect a certain aspect of marketing can be successful.

The problem is that those who are willing to grind are off grinding their World of Warcraft characters, or their post counts on here. Of course I am only referring to those who haven't "made it" yet.
