Does video quality make a difference?

Most internet marketers these days understand the value of videos on a site. Whether it be video testimonials, product demonstrations, or any other type of video, it's a well-known fact that videos can really improve things.

I've seen varying degrees of video quality as I browse through different sites. Some have really impressed me, but I'd have to say the majority are pretty horrible. When I say "quality", I'm not talking about the content or the message of the video.....and I'm not necessarily talking about whether the video was shot using an HD camera or a webcam.

I'm talking about the actual production of the video. The vast majority of videos I've seen, which are meant to promote a product in some way, are nothing but people sitting in front of their computers talking about the product. Often times you'll see un-made beds behind them, or a cat that decides to walk into the shot. Is there any reason to say that these types of videos help at all?

I want to know if there is an advantage to having a well-produced video versus a poorly shot video on your site. My background is in video production, and it kills me to see some of these videos. I want to see videos worthy of a network television commercial!

Before you say, "Sure, that would be great if you had tons of money to spend on a video", I would argue that there are many ways to create a professional looking video without the need to spend a lot of money. I guess my main question is: Would the extra effort to make a great looking video really make a difference?

Being that I have the equipment, experience, and desire to create great looking videos, I've thought about producing professional quality videos for internet marketers to place on their websites. But again, I don't know if this is something that the market needs. If so, what would someone be willing to pay for a 2-minute promotional video of their product?

If any of you out there has any insight on whether a professional video will get more results than a crappy one, please let me know. And if there's anyone out there looking for a great video...I'm here for you!
