Switching domain name providers because of SOPA?

I was perusing the web and found a super clever website that is prompting people to switch domain name hosts. Obviously its an affiliate site, but I can't hate because I think it's so dang clever.
Is anybody going to switch tomorrow on the "mass migration" day?
I am, but only because I found out the the founder of Godaddy hunts elephants...

That site is very clever indeed! Cool find.

As of a few days ago, GoDaddy has dropped SOPA support.

Does that change anyone's mind? lol

Yeah only after hundreds on thousands of people where threatening to leave them, that still doesn't change the fact that they do in "HEART" still promote it lol "A con man will always switch his stance to please the person he is trying to Con".

If this as well as the owner killing Elephants for fun isn't enough to show people what kind of people they really are at godaddy then idk what will smh....

Why are people so obsessed with killing an elephant? Maybe they ate it...

Do you have a Facebook account? Lots of WF members have. Did you decide to "switch" to another social media site when you read the FB CEO was eating only animals he killed???
(Mark Zuckerberg's new challenge: Eating only what he kills (and yes, we do mean literally...) - Postcards)

I am coming from a butcher dynasty: I know animals are killed daily. And unless you are a vegetarian you eat all those killed animals and the products made from their meat. So, let's get over it.

And move away from crappy domain registrars because of their disrespect toward you as their customer. Find better service that is beneficial for your business.

Yeah. What no one seems to "get" is that the government sells those elephant licenses. The stipulations are that the elephants killed are rogue elephants that are a problem elephant in villages near where people live and grow crops. The elephant "must" be given to villagers to eat, so people who don't have a lot of food get to eat, including very hungry children.

... and the topper is that if the licenses aren't sold ... that is, if no one buys them, the government will just destroy whole herds of elephants, including the mother and baby elephants to minimize damage to villagers.

But I switched all my important domain names to namecheap. The ones I left with Godaddy are ones that I will let expire. I didn't do this because of elephants. I did this because their interface has long been a pain in my ass ... so slow on my Internet connection that I get pissed every time I have to use it and secondly, because they support SOPA ... but not only that ... they said they no longer support SOPA, but they really do. I don't like liars.

Clap...clap...clap....well done I agree the elephant deal is a little exaggerated but my stance is the same on that. But how do you get over the fact that they support it and then turn around and BS everybody and state that they don't??? That's what's really got me...there basically calling everyone who believes them idiots

Perhaps he has been reading from Neil Strauss' book:

Amazon.com: Emergency: This Book Will Save Your...Amazon.com: Emergency: This Book Will Save Your...

Going through what Mr. Strauss went through, the journey of it, makes for a more resilient person, one who can survive even if an EMP throws the modern world back to the stone age by frying all electronics. This leads to a different mindset, perhaps even a more successful one.

(As an interesting aside, did you know that without electricity some cities do not have water? It's the electrical pumps that keep the water moving through the pipes. Try learning that in the middle of the aftermath of a hurricane when you didn't stock up enough even though the news media warned you for days on end that "it's coming, it's coming, it's coming (the sky is falling!)" If your city turns out to be one of them and is hit with an unexpected natural disaster, you just might have a problem. There have been earthquakes in unusual places such as Texas and hurricanes in such places as the east coast, both things people didn't expect or plan for. Just food for thought . . . and yes, pun intended.)

Elephants aren't killed for meat...they are killed in trophy hunts and considering the elephant is becoming an endangered species a lot of people don't think it's cool to kill an animal just to put it's head on your wall or use it's foot as an umbrella stand.

Of all these news, blog, and forum posts, I'm still confused on why so many people avoid the #1 reason for avoiding GoDaddy: They suck.

Really they suck? What does that mean?

NameCheap doesn't have telephone support. GoDaddy does. You can call them at 2am when you are working any day of the year. And someone, a real live person will answer the phone.

Can you do that at NameCheap? So who sucks now?

GoDaddy has an actual physical street address.

What does namecheap have? That's right a mail box drop.

      Who sucks now?

I am not against hunting. I grew up in a rural town and went hunting often. I am against the manner in which he went about it. I am against hunting big game just for the trophies (irregardless of the money it may bring into the locals economy).
Some don't, I understand that but Parsons made a huge showing of it.
The point is still the same, bad companies are only effected by our monetary decisions. Parsons is a bad dude (I have worked on several GoDaddy commercials in Scottsdale and have met him several times) and the website above is clever about it and correct. Hit him where it counts, his wallet.

How'd this turn into a talk about Elephants haha. It's mass migration day, so change domain name providers from Godaddy.
Unless of course you support SOPA and killing Elephants...

      Faulty logic... "of course".
I cannot change domain registrars (<-- that's the correct terminology!) although it doesn't mean I support SOPA.

I cannot switch from GoDaddy because after a short adventure with them many years ago, I ran away from that registrar: I considered them a bad company and I didn't like how they treated MY business. I didn't have to wait until somebody tells me "today is the day to switch registrars"... I make my own business decisions without political activists telling me when and what to do.

As for the elephants - I agree, most of the time it would be more beneficial to shoot some people > less people = more food and room...

I don't use GoDaddy as a registrar anyways and dislike the company for other reasons - those reasons would make me move domains to another registrar in a heartbeat.

As to shooting elephants? Never ate one...are they tasty?

I am actually FOR stopping Piracy. But SOPA and PIPA go way too far.

GoDaddy's always been there for me, and whenever I had a problem (one in four years), it was resolved quickly.

I see no reason to end my professional relationship with them, until they give me a reason to...

But methinks Namecheap actually put that website up - anyone else agree?
