Best niches to enter in 2012?

Hey guys
Wanted to know your thoughts on what you think will be the best niches to enter in 2012 for affiliate marketing. You know.. low competition, easy to rank for, and is or will be getting high searches in the future.

I know woodworking and knitting are two niches that seem easy to rank for.

So what do you think ?

Thanks!
Nick.

Very tough, indeed. Better off with longer tail or less competitive related keywords.

It's funny how lots of new internet marketers start promoting products about making money. They haven't made any money themselves, but they are teaching others how to do it

Regarding the main question: it is very difficult to find a perfect niche, with low competition, lots of traffic and lots of money. If a niche is very good it was probably already found by many others. If it has low competition the earnings won't be so big either.

One solution would be to make lots of niche websites with low competition and to earn a small amount from each one, resulting in bigger earnings.

Same here, I think that will be the best niche for year 2012 ) Hope you'll consider a product that end with 2012. For instance:

      1) Best watches for men 2012
      2) Best handbags for ladies 2012
      etc ...

Seriously I'm not kidding, this is a pretty good niche!

      Pros: Low competitors (now)
Cons: Only able to market this niche for 1 year - 2012

I've been debunking this made-up 2012 myth for nearly a decade. It's been a very lucrative journey, and my final entry on Dec 22nd, 2012 will be emblazoned with "I told you so!" Then, on to the next cataclysmic event.

Well if all you want is high paying, no competition, and lots of traffic why didn't you just say so!

Here's a money maker for you, free of charge...

Create a site focused on helping people simplify their digital lives. As everything moves into the "cloud" it makes a lot of things complicated.

My mother in law called to ask me about dropbox the other day. It's like the easiest freakin thing in the world. After an hour on the phone with her (literally) she said, and why is that any different than just putting my files on a USB stick?

I told her it's a good thing her daughter's hot and then politely explained it a bit more...

I think there is a lot of different niches that you can enter in 2012. Your success depend on how much work you will put in. You can find the best money making niche in the world and if you will not work hard (at least on the beginning) you will not get much out of it.

Besides the usual health / finance / make money / insurance niches, I would highly recommend the following niches

    - Doomsday, 12, 21st 2012
    - April 14 2012, Titanic 100th anniversary

A site about Titanic providing facts, figures, pictures, videos and memorabilia would kill it hence it would be a good deal for anyone jumping into that niche

The best niche to go into is the one that:

1.) You can spend bunches of time
    2.) Monetize easily
    3.) Build your list

The challenge with hands-off sites are that Google can kill those easily.

Evergreen niches are always popular; I wrote about those over at http://www.barbaraling.com/insights/...che-marketing/ .

The first really useful contribution to this thread. Thank you.

There are 2 main types of niches.

Evergreen Niches - See above post
Emerging Niches - If you can predict these and be first in line then you can dominate the traffic. But even these emerging niches will be within the evergreen niches.

Still deciding whether to give examples as I am mean with new niches.

        - Find true love

I'm prone to agree with the rest of them - health, wealth, and self help.

As long as you're willing to put the work in, though, money can be made. I've had clients make money off of the craziest things because they were ultra passionate about them. I figure that there's even folks who have made a ton of cash off of stamp collecting and sunflower seeds.

The 2012 niche has been extremely lucrative for the last 20+ years and is getting more enthusiasts than ever before. The big bucks is being made in tangential topics such as Mayan history, culture, archaeology, astronomy, science, etc. Interest in these topics will continue far beyond 2012 even as the fiction, hype and nonsense wanes.

......any niche that has a whole host of problems or issues that you can solve, that has repeat buyers, has a healthy dose of competition (remember, they've done all the hard research for you), and has advertising dollars being spent on it.

This is one way I approach markets:

    * People are always going to get married.

    * People are always going to be looking for that special someone.

    * People are always going to want to improve or change some aspect of their lives (weight loss, self improvement, health, wealth, etc.).

    * People are always going to want to improve their homes.

    * People are always going to.......[insert evergreen lifestyle market here]

I focus on evergreen niches that are going to make me money 10, 20, even 30 years from now because I love this business, I'm never going to retire, I'm having way too much fun.

This is exactly what I was going to say.

...well, not as well as Rod put it of course.

That said- if you want to get into smaller, less competitive niches than you can look at video games like Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, Mass Effect 3, or more culture-type stuff like Mayan 2012 apocalypse, apocalypse survival, etc.

Hit the nail on the head right here! If you predict trends, or limit yourself to something which is only going to last 12 months in my honest opinion you're wasting your time. Yes you may make a quick buck in a profitable niche market related to a specific event such as the Olympics or 2012 but sticking your whole efforts to markets which will always occur is in my honest opinion A LOT better...

Hey Wiz, I like your latest song California and Rollin Papers was great!

There are emerging markets and growing trends each year. Beats headphones for example is a growing niche, three years ago no one even knew what beats headphones were.

Web have been one of their material to express their sentiments, concerns, rants, etc.. which hurts individuals or even organizations virtually..

The best niches for me have always been niches where I was passionate and active - this allowed me to build lots of traffic via content generation without it really seeming like work. Monetization then becomes the icing on the cake.

Markets I've used this strategy with include:

    Infoproducts on...

    - Stress management/reduction + additional personal improvement products
    - Fat burning
    - niche market research
    - specific IM info products based on my own business experience

    Physical products:

    - specific sub-niche within Electronics
    - guitars & music blogs
    - outdoors equipment

Each of these has been successful because I love to develop and research content, interact with other authority site owners, do reviews and actively participate in those markets so I have interesting insights to share with my market...

Find your passions, learn how to monetize them, that should be your focus in 2012!

Evergreen niches make sense. Its why love songs written decades ago are still relevant.

Are you guys looking for niches for email marketing or for marketing via seo/affiliate website?

Because for seo/aff sites, nobody's mentioned that you should probably drill down into less competitive niches to make it easier on your seo efforts.

But for email marketing, I assume its wide open to whatever's relevant and in demand. Just hypothesizing, I have yet to start list building.

IBISWorld, the world's largest independent publisher of U.S. industry research with a team of expert analysts covering over 700 different market segments has released a list of the highest future growth trends.

Their research concluded that relaxation drinks will be the fastest growth companies in the next 5 years. The drink market will likely revolutionize itself once again (after the energy drink craze) and focus on chillin' out instead of getting hyped up.

Better yet, the two complement each other perfectly. Get energized in the morning, and relax in the evening. It also has a low barrier to entry and low start up costs. Annual revenues are expected to grow by almost 25% annually for the next 5 years! Imagine being a small player, then being acquired by Coca Cola for millions.
Wow, I never thought of that! Thanks for sharing. Relaxation drinks? I wonder what kind of drinks they are? Ice Tea? Any existing drinks out there that help you "relax?"

Yeah.. for certain that seems like the natural way the market is going to go

I have seen this before, so would like to share this here. One way to spot the upcoming trend and ride along this trend.
    Few ways to do so:
    1. Using google trend.
    2. Google search for upcoming trend or 2012 trend
    3. Check out Ebay pulse
    4. Google (again) for bestsellers in Ebay, Amazon

    Hope this help!

I know woodworking and knitting are two niches that seem easy to rank for.

So what do you think ?

    Thanks!

I don't think the doomsday market is going to totally disappear after nothing happens on Dec 21st.

There is a subset of people who think the 12/21/12 is incorrect and the big day will be in March of 2013. Then there's the people who are just in a doomsday frame of mind and will not give it up, especially after all the preparations made and money spent. They will just dig in their heels find another looming catastrophe to obsess about. That's just how they are wired.

The # of expats is increasing super fast, and for American expats in particular the pressure for compliance issues with tax and overseas business are getting more difficult to work with-- this is creating a huge pain point for 3M+ Americans. This is a monied marketplace, think second passports, offshore incorporations, tax advice, etc etc etc.

Some niches are evergreen - in 2012 or in 30 year's time.

There are 3 things that most people want in life and they will spend a lot of money to get what they want.

They are anything that make people:

    1) Healthy (Weight loss, natural health remedies, performance enhancement etc)
    2) Wealthy ( Make money online, forex, investment, share trading, retirement planning etc)
    3) Happy (Relationship, self improvement, beauty products, pets, golf etc)

Profitable and hungry niches are right in front of you wherever you look.

As you know, the weight loss and fitness markets are completely saturated. Why would you spend the time to compete in such a competitive market when there are so many other options?

Find a problem and create a solution.

Even in the most obscure niches, you can make money.

In my experience, it's more than half the battle to find the lucrative niche, the rest is working it.

Think long term not just "2012" - Start looking at "recurring" income....and not fast cash....loook at products that have stood the test of time, and go for something like that or something that is better than that in 2012 and set up a good site....its hard to get recurring payments from woodworking or knitting, but if you focus on a site that offers "business tools" with monthly subscriptions...you might be good

        Low-impact exercise
        Fat Loss
        Organic Food

Pick a niche that interests you. Then go to the Google Keyword tool and put in your niche keyword and view all the relevant sub-niches. Pick a sub-nice that you like.

Then go to Google and do a search - check out who your competitors are, what they are doing and what products they are selling. Also what keywords they are targeting. Are there an adverts that indicate that people are making money in the niche?

Check out on some of the affiliate sites like Clickbank whether there are products available for sale in your niche i.e. is there a thriving market place.

Once you have carried out all the above research, you should be fairly confident about entering your chosen sub-niche. Hope that helps

Think about events and releases for next year and beyond. An example would be the new Star Trek movie to be released in 2013. Certainly demand for Trekie Products will be on the rise.

Another idea is to look at the Articles on sites like Ezine.com or GoArticles.com. Take a look at the categories and read the articles to see what people are promoting. Then find something you have an interest in and start promoting.

Money making niche is still the best, as I believe in the current economic times more & more people are downsized in the corporate companies.

That means, the new economic model will be through the IM niche. Looks like things are getting really hot here..*sizzling
