How to win with Google

I know, because when my last site went live we hit page one of Google for 4 of our targeted keywords, received immediate traffic and converted one sale in the first 7 days - with absolutely no post-launch SEO.

Here the first thing we did (it's a response to a request today from another member)

It all depends what facilities you need but let me tell you this (from someone who knows a little bit about SEO). If you have a .co.uk or .org.uk domain and you wish to optimise your website for the UK audience then best to host in the UK. As you probably know Google is extremely hot on relevance and it all starts with the basics;

a) .co.uk domain
b) Genuine UK host on UK based servers
c) UK IP address
d) UK nameservers (if your domain is registered elsewhere). This can have an impact if your domain is registered with say Go Daddy instead of a UK seller such as 123-Reg

Now finding a good host that satisfies all this is tough. I went through 20-30 of them before I got the right answers from a very good host.

Again, I'm not affiliated in any way.

They run cpanel and a fantastico equivalent so it's dead easy to upload new Wordpress sites.

They also have servers in the US so you could host US specific sites there as well. Or you could run .coms from the UK

This makes a big difference to SEO

There are a lot of crappy resellers out there - here today gone tomorrow. United have been around about as long as hosting has.

Best of luck

I host in the USA and live in the UK.

I have no problem ranking for keywords in the UK and under a .com domain.

Yes it is easier to rank in the uk with a .co.uk domain, but then you are restricted for growth.

Also, I have a UK hosting account and see no difference in SEO results between the UK host IP and the USA.

I buy domains at Namecheap, host them at US, and yet they rank in Portugal as good as anything else.

Plus, I tend to hate promotional posts/threads.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Agreed, I am sure if somebody wanted the URL of the host they could have PM'ed him!

Wow, you should really learn to use Google to research...that is quite sad.

I'll bet with just a single post on the Warrior Forum I could find a bunch of hosts which meet those requirements which have been thoroughly tested by other Warriors...but then again, I'm not trying to promote anything.
