Any good free or paid wordpress themes to lower the 80% bounce rate ?

One of my sites, which is about two months old is now receiving anywhere from 40 - 60 visits a day, mainly from search engines. But the problem is that the bounce rate is pretty darn high about 80%! My content is all very unique and interesting too (according to me), I have got few positive comments too from visitors on some posts which somehow confirms that content ain't that bad. I guess the high bounce rate is due to the stupid wordpress theme I am using.

I would appreciate if I could get ideas about where I can find wordpress themes (free or paid) which would actually reduce the bounce rate considerably!!

Thanks.

IMO... if your theme doesn't look nice or your design is all over the place, your site will have a high bounce rate

It's like a first impression thing... if your main page looks really good - people would love to explore your site more and stay longer

There are many things that contribute to high bounce rates, but content is usually the biggest.

Just a small example: if the traffic you're getting from the search engines is people looking for answers to questions, and the article they land on gives them the answer they're looking for, they'll likely leave and go back to what they were doing when the question arose. That would create a bounce on that article, even though it provided exactly what they were looking for.

Sure, the look and feel of your site may encourage people to stick around, but don't assume that a new theme is going to reduce your bounce rate.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

Why not include a link to your site or create a sig file and put it there. You'll get much more specific feedback if people can actually see what you have.

If you have content that is really unique... and useful, then split it.
So people have to go to another page and read it.
I believe bounce means how many people went to your site and left after reading one page.

This question is so vague it can't possibly be answered properly. It's like asking... "I am going to advertise on Facebook tomorrow... how much money will I earn?"

There are way too many variables at play here and I would not be so quick to blame it on the theme you are using. Your bounce rate has to do with user engagement. The content on your site is going to play a BIG role in this so don't think that changing the theme is somehow going to magically lower your bounce rate. I would look at your content first and foremost and also the sorts of phrases people are searching to get to that content.

You might have a page based around the term 'Tonca 56X Trampoline Review'. The people landing on your site might be searching something like 'How to fix Tonca 56X Trampoline' or something else -- so clearly they are not looking for the information you have an they will bounce right off your site.

You need to concentrate on matching your content to suit what the people are actually searching for. Only once you have that sorted out would I be worrying about the theme.

I do not know if you have found an answer to your question yet - I found this post after searching for 'bounce rate'.

I have been experimenting with things to drop my bounce rate. I have a site that gets an average of 200 visits a day, but the bounce rate was over 70%. All my other sites have an average bounce rate of 10%. (they also have less traffic)

So I did a major site makeover - changed the theme, colors, and optimized a few things like links and keywords. My bounce rate immediately started dropping - it has been about 3 days since I did this, and it has dropped from 73% to 66%. My click-throughs have improved as well, but so far sales have not increased.

My original theme had a lot of things on the home page, I was using the Lifestyle theme with the Genesis framework etc. I decided maybe the page was too busy and distracting. So I switched to one of my favorite free Wordpress themes, BlogoLife. I changed the homepage to be a static page with good content, very relevant to my main keyword.

    Hope this helps!
