Hi,
I'm bying my first domain name right at the moment. Can anyone help with this problem:

I have two opinion in my mind and first one is XXXX.com where xxxx is PROFESSION. Second option is XXXX.com where xxxx is ACTIVITY what those professionals do.

My problem is that in first opinion the name would be better "Brand name". It's also better with logo. Cooler. Second one with activity based name is not so cool, BUT it have much more google searches in month.

I'm just thinking is there anyway that I can use first opinion domain and still get seconds opinion's traffic? I'm newbie with all this technical things.

2. question:

I have been reading that you have to reserve your domain name atleast for 5 years or more to have more respect from Google. So it's that possible that I right now reserve both of those 2 domains just for 1 year and LATER when I know what to use, change that reservation period longer? Is there any sense or do I reserve both for 5 years immediatelly to protect my business.

Thanks for your time.

I think your prudent to just reserve for one year. You can always add more years to your registration.

    SlowHand,

Get both. Use the one that you already know you really like as your site, the one with the better brand name. You can use a redirect feature for the second domain name.

So what will happen is when someone types in the second domain name, it automatically sends them to the first domain name where all your content is.

That second domain should only cost you around $9 or $10 more a year.

One point is also that offcourse I will write that same "business name" many times to web sites, salesletter, articles, links + affiliates uses it too, etc...

So how it's possible it's not really bad thing to traffic if I will use option one for business name?
