Does anyone actually make money with "Flippa"?

Put a few sites up there for sale. It seems 99% of the buyers are cheap charlie's who expect a fully built out unique customized site for $100.

Is flippa a waste of time? Does anyone here STILL make money with flippa?

Best regards and Happy new year!

If you have a real quality site you'll make money, but if you are selling turn-key style sites, that will make it all the more difficult.

As a buyer, any sites I see that have even a little bit of untapped potential go for quite high. I see more demand than supply.

However, as for cheaper start-up websites, people there seem to be used to all the cheap turnkey-ish ones set up so you'd be lucky to earn pennies for any custom work you put into it.

There are ways to make money on Flippa, unfortunately I don't think it is with new sites that don't earn.

As a previous poster mentioned, you really need to make something unique, and outline the potential it can have. There have been a few WSO's that have come out that have given people ideas on how to create turnkey sites and sell them on Flippa. Now that market is saturated. You may notice that there are many "facebook like, youtube views" seller sites as well as iPhone hack sites. Completely saturated, I don't know how these sell anymore.

I have made money, and this is by either building a new site and making it earn for three months, or buying an established site and flipping it.

The money is in sites that have revenue and traffic. Startup/turnkey sites don't bring in much money.

    Yes.

However, it is not very lucrative if you decide to sell brand new websites that no one wants. Websites that have some history behind them, proof of traffic, and some income will go do well on Flippa. It will indicate to buyers that the website you are selling has potential to make more money in the future.

As someone who bought a site on flippa recently I think its all about what the market feels it worth, I don't see why I should spend $1000s on a site that has been running less than a month, offers nothing in value apart from a so called "custom" design that when you break it down has the colour tags changed in a wordpress theme and is passed as "unique"

On the other hand I tend to set restrictions on my searches and what comes up, I got a bargain 10 year old domain, site with around 5500 unique visitors a month for $100 nothing amazing but for the money it's worth a punt.

It seems a fair amount of people pass up the long term domain names that go for small amounts of money and rather trade up for something that claims to be making $500+ per month in less than a week of the site going live.

Sites on Flippa have indeed sold for large amounts, but most of the sites for sale are actually at most just a couple of months old. To top it all off, there are probably hundreds of sites almost identical to the ones for sale, so as others have mentioned, most people don't find it worth their money paying large amounts for them. A quality website which is established in the market is never going to sell cheap, regardless of where it is listed. I think we can all agree that none of us would buy a site for US$1,000 if it generates US$15 per month

I have an 8 year old domain, plenty of traffic, a fantastic concept/unique site, and got 42 bids at $900. What a joke...site is worth $10k all day long, is ranked well in google.

Flippa seems to be full of cheap charlies and chinese who make knockoff crap. I notice not one of you above has posted up links to where you've made money. I wish people on this site would stop kissing each others asses and start contributing real info and post proof....

So far i'm seeing lots of fluff and bull****ters...

Every sale of every website is listed on Flippa for all to see. You can clearly see what makes money and what does not. You don't need anyone here to tell you one way or the other.

Well, speaking of fluff, where's the revenue. That's what people go for on Flippa and no one needs to post proof. The proof is in the Just Sold tab on Flippa. You're expecting $10K but haven't said a word about your site actually making any money. So does it or not?

Yes, people make money with it and therefore it exists. You see sites for auction and you see people buying them, therefore money is made. Simple logic.

Here's a tip . . . you could give away a website for free, and still make money, by offering other relevant services. For example, I sold a site on Flippa suitable for newbies, and said I'd transfer it for free if the new owner if they used the hosting I suggested, which was the host I used myself, and I got the host affiliate fee. Then you can offer them services like SEO, content, and anything else they might need.

So a low selling price of the website itself does not necessarily mean that there isn't money to be made from most sales.

People make money doing anything. You just need to know how to do it.

There was a thread on here before about a guy who sold a site for 50k. And another thread about how to create easily resellable sites.

As mentioned above, the "Just Sold" tab is a great way to see what niches/types of sites are selling well. I just recently sold a domain name that I paid $10 for at $120 ... that was just for the name.

Can you tell me more about that?

Like how you gauged the value of this domain & your exact flippa listing?

      Thanks

    ITS a waste of money!
    Simple as that!
After you list you website, it will never be visible for more than few minutes, then you have to buy LOTS of "upgrades" , which are super expencive.
    NOT WORTH.
