My first payment online was received from building product affiliate review sites for specific product launches that I read about from WarriorJV.com and Muncheye.com.

Freelancing. I think this is one method most people who're starting out count on! You don't need to invest anything at first, so it's like you have nothing to lose!

I was curious about what people had to say on this so I thought I'd ask. I guess also there's two ways of answering this, how long from when you first started, and how long from when you stopped being an information overload newbie that spent all your time learning different traffic methods rather than focusing on promoting and building a solid list with what works. I bet most of us went through a similar phase when we were just getting started. |

About a year but in truth thats just time passed not time put in. I didn't take it seriously most of that year. I don't think most people are overloaded. The far larger group who don't make it are those who just don't put whatever they learn into practice OR those who keep buying things looking for the imaginary easy push button system so that they don't have to put any work into it.

I was going through an old hard drive last night and found clear evidence that I've been suffering from the all too famous 'shiny object syndrome'. Without a doubt, people have been earning quite a significant amount of cash on me. :-) However, none of these products made me any money. In fact, my first dollar was made after taking action on a free post about building a review blog for Amazon products. Since there are so many ways to make money out there, I'm kinda curious: What did YOU do to make YOUR first buck? How long did it take you? Are you still doing it? |

Must have been in elementary school or so, but it didn't take long at all. I had something people wanted... And let them bid for it to buy. Not exactly similar to what I'm doing now, but it was still money made online

I first had Shiny Object Syndrome then I came across a video by Frank Kern. From that day I took action. I bought a fiverr course and took action and in 1 Year Made 1,000 then spent all the Money in list building and did solo ads. It was non stop from then,

My mentor back in 2006-2007 helped me create my own website where I added 10-15 work at home offers. Then I started advertising my website on Yahoo pay per click and started to make a profit. I made money from CPA offers and one time commission products. I personally struggled online for my first 5 years and never made a dime. So it took me more then 5 years to start making money. That's why a good mentor is the way to go. |

But I do have to wonder why this question comes up so much. The "first profit" or "first dollar" or "first whatever" doesn't tell you anything about anything. You can easily make a dollar dumpster diving for aluminum cans, but it's hardly a recipe for a sustainable business. Talk to me about your 100,000th dollar or your 1,000,000th dollar. Heck, talk to me about your 10,000th dollar -- even at that small scale, you get a sense for what's working and what's not. But first dollar? That's like trying to use the temperature when you woke up this morning to predict the weather 100,000 years from now... in Antarctica... Not completely worthless. But pretty close!

My first dollar was by selling a clickbank product. I do not do much of this these days. Once I started my FBA business that has been my main focus. And yes - I too was a victum of the dreaded shiny object syndrome. |

A. Went to a freelance site, got an account, bid on jobs and won one. B. Created my first info product in 2011 1. Spent 3 months developing credibility with the audience. 2. Repurposed some great content / low production value videos and a couple write-ups I had already made, and put them on a web page ie. got started with what I had available, not what I wished I had. 3. Wrote copy and linked to the sales page in my sig. 4. Sold it for $20 a copy. |

Read posts #4 and #8 above. This same topic has been covered over and over again here on the forum. Not only is it unimportant how somebody else made their first dollar online . . . it is also irrelevant to what you can and should do to start making money. We are all different . . . invested in different niches . . . operate in different business models . . . and we all bring a different set of skills to our money making efforts. What someone else does is not the formula for success in what you can do. Create your own path based on what skills, knowledge, resources, and effort you plan to bring to the table. Steve |

There are many ways to earn money online. I have earned the first money from the online sector by working on Facebook. After getting the first dollar, I inspired too much. Though it was a small amount of money, but the happiness ea endless. I still can remember that event.

I used to suffer from shiny object syndrome to. My first dollar came from fiver. I had purchased a program that had a template for creating kindle covers. I made about 50 bucks in a month, and then I got sick of doing something I wasn't really that good at. |

It was pretty cool - and since I was out of work at the time, I was able to earn $400 a week while I was looking for another job! My next funky online job was again in 1999-2000 "scraping" emails from the now-defunct Love@AOL dating site. You couldn't copy/paste either; I had to actually type the emails up in a specific format into a Notepad file. And again in 1999-2000 I actually sold "print and mail" copies of short book I wrote. I averaged about $60-$80 a month. I literally had to print them out on demand on an old laser printer, manually double-side and fold them, and then staple the pages together into a book. How long did it take? I'm guessing you mean how long did it take the find the work? Just about a week to find the first one, a few days to find the second one. And it took a couple of weeks to sell my first book online, which was on my very first website back then. Are you still doing it? Nope. Those first two companies are loooong gone. I've updated my print & mail book several times over the years and now it's on Kindle. I don't sell many copies, but I just recently updated it again for 2015 and changed the cover art.

Some people complain when I link back to heavily Thanked and appreciated threads where I and others have already answered (obviously well) the question posed in a new thread. Part of having a forum IS answering the same thing over and over and over again. Each new questioner thinks their question is unique. The owners want unique, fresh content. Sometimes, I have to admit, I get tired of it. Then it's time to take a break from the forum |

As for finding a mentor, you want to find someone you can relate to and who knows how to train via video tutorials, ebooks, etc. The best mentors will give you a good bit of information for free before asking for any money. One of my favorites is Zerofatz (Kam Jennings). Here's his YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/zerofatzreturns

create product then get affiliates to promote for you that's the best way and yes stop all this shiny object stuff and stay focus once you find a profitable niche for you, work work or pay someone to do it, you have to decide but you will succeed if you don't give up like most do, best to you.......

Like you, I've built (and still do - but to a lesser degree) Amazon review sites but instead of targeting popular products with lots of reviews, I've gone after newly released products before everyone else got to it. Funny, b/c I made my first dollar with that strategy, got bored and tried a whole host of other things which didn't work out too well (to say the least), only to return almost a couple of years later to the same strategy that I started with.

I was in college. I got 2 sales on a raunchy product topic, and couldn't believe it. I had ran a 50% off promotion to my list of 64 leads LOL. Then 2 people bought it. After that, i was convinced that i didn't want a job forever. Heck, i didnt want to stay in college anymore... but those panini sandwiches in the cafeteria kept me coming back.

Been trying...and failing to make a single penny online, been a good few months now, learnt quite abit about internet marketing as a whole although something tells me i've got a whole lot more to learn, either that or i've been following the wrong stuff. I started full time work about 6 weeks ago, before that I was unemployed so I had time on my hands, time which I invested into the online world, time I am determined to not let go to waste, sure i didn't make any money, but I see it as a learning curve, the advantage i've got now is i can start using my income from my day job to invest online, income which didn't exist beforehand of course. I just need to be sure i'm investing in the right things, if anyone has any information that could help me out, heck id even pay a mentor! someone I trusted, one to one, not a random guru half way across the world who pushes re-hashed shit for the masses and wouldn't even recognise your name if they came across it.
