800 videos on Youtube should make some decent money. Are they in niches where there are ads? you can apply for youtube ads and make some revenue that way too. Also make sure you have your information part with links to offers.

I made my first money with a eBook I created. I was selling the eBook for 49.95. I remember my first sale was a young girl that was going on tour and she yahooed tour manager and my website came up. I was on the first page of Yahoo back then.( Pat on the back) anyway, it took about a week in a half to make a 100 bucks and the rest is history. What I found out was make your own product works well in this business. Oh, plus I did have an affiliate link on my page which made me 50 dollar's a pop.

Thanks for the question!

Hey Linzzz
Thought for you.
Videos that rank are valuable. I'd ask yourself are they rentable?
People really want exposure in SERPS so go through your videos and see if they could be relevant to a local business.
Let's say you have a video about playing guitar -- ask a guitar shop if they want it for $100 a month and add an annotation, custom thumbnail etc with their details...Sell it by letting them try for free ...but add your own tracking phone # for $5 a month.

I started with eBooks, specifically Kindle a few years ago and it only took a couple of months to make over $100 and a few more months to increase that to over $100 per month.

I have since moved on to creating full information products and membership sites but still regularly make money on the Kindle books; one of the easiest ways to start online (or was).

I'm with Linzzz, Haven't earned a profit in 15 years. Although I did waste about 8 years with MLM (my fault). I spend about 1K per year trying everything that makes others income (too many to list here). What bothers me the most is....when so many people are selling their money making systems that claim to earn 10K per month. If they can earn 10K per month, why do they need to sell any system? It's because that's how they are earning 10K per month, selling us their fantasy income garbage. I could never sell an info product in the money making niche unless it actually work and was proven to work by at least 100 reviewers.

For the last 3 years I have been practicing seo. A few sites showing up on page 2, still trying for the #1 spot.

My Case Study Free report how online marketing is ripping us off!

You need to find a point where you change your game plan. I think building your own niche product or website would be fun and in return bring you more money. I think affiliate marketing these days are not as easy as it was. There are a lot of people out there promoting the same stuff. And even if you have build a list, there is a chance that your list would have received the same offer several times from other marketers. Slow build niche sites can be the way forward.

I've been trying a variety of things for fifteen years as well and nothing has been extremely successful because I get scattered. I'm working on a solid plan to get to money. I've made decent money blogging for a few clients and managing adwords campaigns. My own adsense sites make about 5-10c a day which isn't great.
We will get there if we focus and persist.
And I agree with DannyBags that there are lot of people out there wanting to take money without really helping. And I'm inspired by your tenacity and focus.
I think you get successful when you stop looking for the next big shortcut and just do something learning what you need when you need it but not stopping and changing horses midtrip, etc. etc.

Hi people,

I made my first $100 with a CPA email submit. I created an instagram account with a link to an offer. it took me about 3weeks I can remember.

It was worth it! And it was for me the proof that I could make a nice income on the internet..

It took me 6 months to earn any money but i actually made £1000 ($1500) as my first cheque on 1 sale in a now defunct MLM company. That was back in 2008.

Im happy to say that these days its a lot more frequent the money working as an affiliate marketer.

Looking for a detailed but easy to follow training course on how to set up a successful Affiliate Marketing business that also comes with life time phone and email support. www.hbgcourse.com

It depends on the niche of your website and the quality of traffic you are getting. If you have at least 2000 traffic from first tier countries daily, then you can sure make your first $100 before month end that is if you have been blogging for long.

My first $100 was from Clickbank. By the way that has happened since one year. Those days I was creating a facebook fan page related to dating tips for men niche and promote it in dating facebook groups.

The first money I made online was with "Content Locking".

Basically I created a small website, locked some of the content that I'd hyped up and promoted the website in Facebook groups.

After a few hours of promoting I had made $7 and I was stoked...

My first dollar was a Clickbank commission, I think it was a Forex product.

My first hundred dollar day was selling my own info-products where the download page had links to a higher ticket and relevant affiliate product.

My first thousand dollar day, I think was fighting for money.

I made my first $100 with adsense and it took me about 6 months...that was years ago. I made my first 1K with Kindle in 2012. My Kindle and Create Space books still bring in $$ every month, but 2012 was a banner year for that method.

I wrote an Ezine article with a long tail keyword in the title. This got ranked in Google. My bio link went straight to a Clickbank product. It was a get your ex back guide. It was actually very much making money with "no website, no money, no skills" etc.

I earned my first $100 selling virtual currency back at 2002, 3 years in, I left that game because of how saturated it was, and I had to finish college, in 2012 I started again doing that business full time, and been doing that since

I'm trying to sell physical stuff now, starting up a new one

Re: How did you make your first $100 online and how long did it take?
Share on:

Believing in not having all you eggs in one basket, I started out with multiple income streams online.

I started building websites for my fandoms (various cartoons and comic book characters) in 1997, but never monetized any of them. Around that same year, I joined FanFic.net and started posting a lot of sex filled fanfiction, which also did not bring in money. However, as a result of these 2 things, I gained quite a large following, and so when I did start monetizing in 2004 - it only took a few weeks to see my first $100.

In 2004 I started out with Zazzle (beta tester), CafePress, Amazon Affiliates (beta tester), Lulu (beta tester), TagFoot (no longer pays for content), AnswerBag (no longer pays for content), Associated Content (now called Yahoo Answers and no longer paid for content - used to pay the most in the early days - was my top income stream for years), Commission Junction, LinkShare, and Helium (turned out to be a scam, never paid any author a penny AND stole their work - required a lawsuit for authors to get the rights to their work back). There were others but most only pad pennies and were out of existence by 2010.

I had links to all those things from my author home page web site which has been online since 1997 (and is still online today - it's the link in my sig - I changed the url in 2013)

I'm not sure how long it took to reach $100, but I started monetizing in August and had made at least $100 by December.

However, NONE of these places paid me a SINGE PAYMENT of $100 (the $100 was a total of all income streams together)

I did not make my first $100 payment from a single place until 2007. I joined Squidoo in April 2007, and got my first payday of .37c in June 2007. In October 2007 I wrote the fist "Big Lens" on Squidoo (an article 20,000 words long, called "Publishing Methods", that compared Big House publishing, Indie Press publishing, POD publishing, and Vanity Press publishing, based on my personal experiences in having published books in each method). In November 2007 got my first pay of $100+ from a single place: $200 from Squidoo, all of it from the Google Adsence traffic for that one lens. From November 2007 until Squidoo went offline in September 2013, that one lens continued to bring in NO LESS then $90 each and every single month.

Today my best income comes from Amazon Kindle, followed by Zazzle, then LinkShare. And I still use ONLY my author website to promote any of them, relying on traffic from readers of my fan fiction.

I do absolutely 100% zero marketing. ALL of the traffic to my site is organic via people just randomly searching and somehow finding it. I have no "lists" (not even sure what that is, but I'm always seeing WF posts saying you can't make money online without "lists"), don't do any email (don't even know how to use email) mailings or newsletters, do not have a 'squeeze page" (also seems to be commonly recommend), have never bought ANYTHING (ads, traffic, links, followers, etc), or done any of those other "recommended things" you MUST do to make money online.

Also, you don't find the whole "buy me" hype on my website. What you do find is me writing lots of pages, each page detailing events from my every day life. My site is like a blog on a really large scale (6,000+ pages), and it's mostly just me having hissy fit rants and complaining about various events in my every day life.

People who visit my site and then later buy my books, often contact me to say, the reason they bought my books, was because they had been following the drama of my life via reading my site, and decided they just "had" to buy my books, because they wanted to see if my fiction writing was as dramatic, angry, and temperamental as my raging and ranting "blog" posts. - they liked something I wrote and wanted to read more = BOOM income with ZERO marketing. Will it work for others? No clue.

If you were to try to repeat my "method" to online income, you need to be able to write A LOT every day AD have enough stuff going on in your life to be able to write A LOT about it. While every one says "content is king", all of my online income comes down to one thing:

A LOT OF CONTENT IS KING!

I've been posting new articles on my site EVERY DAY since 1997, and most of them are minimum 5,000 words. (Keeping in mind that I am a full time author, type 91 words a minute - that's 5k+ an hr - write in 8 hour sessions 7 days a week, and write up to 37,000 words a day, averaging 11,000 words a day most of the year. 'm also publishing a 5,000 word short story each week and a 50,000 word novel every month or so, in addition to the daily articles on my site. So, when I say a lot of content is required to make a 100% marketless method work, I do mean A LOT of writing.

I started online learning about blogging and affiliate marketing.

A very long time ago, I found a guy that was giving away a check by fax program and a email database program for free, when you switched your long distance to the company he was promoting. I talked him into selling me non exclusive rights to the programs with the source code for $2500, so that I could modify and sell them as my own and keep all the money.

So I took the programs and created 3 packages around them, a bronze, gold and platinum and shortly after advertising them, I got a check in the mail for $497 for the platinum package. The packages didn't even exists and I had to scramble to create. That was my first sale / money I ever made online.

Interesting subject.

After about 2 year's of buying WSO's, and making nothing, I tried Fiverr, I have a Scottish accent, deepish voice, so I sold my voice-over, I am still getting orders, not a fortune, but it was nice to finally make some money online..

I now do media production, and 3D Modelling, it keeps the rent guy away..smiles

hrmmm if you count Ebay it's a different story...

My first real money was selling a domain that I had a business idea for about 10 years later...so my 10 year hold on a domain $79 for 10 years I sold for $1500.
2 months later another business idea I had a domain for from 10 years prior $79 another 10 years... $5000.

The first time I got banned from AdSense, you probably weren't born yet. I never made a dime on AdSense. Bah! Humbug! Never liked that anyway.

The first month I did Squiddo sites, I made $400. Then Squidoo sold out. Bummer.

In my first ventures in 1992, I sold purebred cats through websites. Probably made about $600 a month for a year a so. The internet changes (if no one has told you that before.) I ranked not more than 7th on over 100 search engines for "siamese cats" for a long time. That's not true anymore. Well, after 1996, I quit selling registered kittens so that had something to do with my results.

Today, I make $20 - $30 a month on my Kindle sales, $60 a month on eBay sales, $20 or so on my Amazon sales and a few bucks here and there on affiliate sales.

If my 20 or so years of marketing on the internet has taught me anything is stuff that you are going to hear over and over and over and ... yeah. Over. Choose a thing and stick with it. This doesn't happen overnight. It takes a while.

I am (finally) learning that stability has value. I have a Christmas-themed site that I have had for several years. This year, it really took off. I am making a few hundred on that site this year. I have another site that represents our brick-and-mortar business. I frankly did not realize that so many of our customers rely on that website for follow-up information. Did I monetize that site well? Of course not. But I am now. And I will continue to do so in the future. It is paying off quite well. It's stuff like "I can't believe how well this works in the garden" (with affiliate links). And I am up front about the affiliate links. I tell them "There are affiliate links here and when you buy, we get a very small commission. But it helps to support the web site and the [business name] so we really appreciate your support. Thank you! If you need to know more, just give us a call at xxx-xxx-xxxx".

And we DO get calls. Which I LOVE! It means that people are going to the website and they are participating.

So here's the bottom line. Dude, if you are not making any $$ in whatever time you have invested into the endeavor, you need to either change your ways or get out of the internet business.

I think what most people do not understand is that the internet is just another marketing medium. If you could send out a postcard or have a TV commercial or do a print advertisement in a newspaper, how would that convert? The internet is no different. It is just another place to advertise and a marketing platform. I think people feel that the internet is a magical place that will bring them huge returns for advertising crap. That is simply not true.

A lot of IM marketing is HOW to market on the internet -- "How to do Profitable Video" -- "Make your sales page work" -- "Increase conversion rates" -- That kind of stuff. But the bottom line (yes! net profit) is whether or not your method works and whether or not what you are selling has value.

Example: My husband raises chickens. We advertise them on the internet. People come to our business and they order a specific hatch. (My husband keeps 5 different strains of chickens and 4 different strains of turkeys. People order what they want and he takes a deposit, puts the eggs into the incubator and a month later, his customers come pick up their chicks or poults.)

I think what most people don't get is that the internet is just an electronic newspaper. But that electronic newspaper has billions of classified ads.

How does one business stand out? How does one product stand out?

That, my friend, is the challenge of internet marketing. And that is the question that needs an answer in respect to what you are selling and how it will impact your customer. I think that is what a shi ** dot the I ** t load of peole don't get.

If you are one of them, you need to pack your bags and go away because you cheapen this marketing medium. Internet marketing is a fantastic medium. It can put your business or product in front of so many people so fast that it will literally make your head spin. But (contrary to popular opinion), people are not that stupid that they don't see a pile of crap from a mile away. Okay. The horrible smell may give them a clue.

So if your product is crap, then you are not going to make it. If you are a really good salesperson, you may make some $$ but it won't last (Ref: Rich Jerk and he will tell you that upfront. And his product was not crap but his sales tactics were).

So I have gone off on a tangent here but what I am trying to convey is that for most of us, results not only take effort but time. Crazy crap makes money, too, though. I sell manuals for equipment that I never thougt would sell at all. I make a post on my farm site about something that works for dormant spraying fruit trees and I make $100 or more that month.

Get out of your head. Do what you need to do. I'm just sayin'.

Depends on how you measure it. It took me about six months from the time that I first had the idea for what I wanted to do (sell a $19.97 ebook giving a way to fix a common medical condition) and the time that I had the ebook written, the website up and all the PP, eJunkie and other technical stuff done and ready to go. Once that was done, though, I made my first sale about two weeks after I put the site up, and had made $100 after about seven weeks. I was selling about five ebook a month for the first year or so, so averaged about $100/month during that year. Did around triple that the second year, and tripled it again the third.

My feeling is that if you don't make at least $50 in your first month online, you're probably doing something wrong. Maybe you've chosen the wrong niche, maybe you're not getting the word out about your website, maybe your content sucks. But some piece of the puzzle is not what it should be.

Fixes for the above, in order:

Is anyone else making money in that niche? If the answer's no, don't waste any more of your time. You're not going to either.

Do you have a plan for publicizing your website, and if so, are you following it? If this question is making you go "Huh?", start asking questions here until you get a response that makes sense to you.

Get someone you trust to give you an honest answer to look at your content and critique what you're doing. Does your writing suck? Do you not come across well on camera, or in MP3 format? Is your offer limp? Is your website boring? A fresh pair of eyes can make all the difference.

My first dollar online was with a $7 tripwire affiliate product.

I send out a 100 click solo, got about 40 - 50 leads and a few great sales with that solo.

I love solo ads since

It was nice to read your replies. Based on the replies someone new or someone who haven't tried a specific type on income can figure out how much time each one require. A quick conclusion is that income from Adsense usually takes several months to years, while arbitrage or selling services can make money instantly.

To respond to the question:

My first $100 ever was made by investing $50 in a CD-writer in 2002 and burning CDs for friends who dind't have one. It took few months to reach it.

My first $100 online was made in the first month from freelancing on Rentacoder in 2005.

My first $100 from adsense was made in 2007 after several months after launching my website and figuring out how to promote it.

My first $100 from affiliate marketing was made in 2010, 2-3 months after starting my wordpress related blog.

My first $100 from selling my own products was also made in 2010, by removing adsense ads from a tool website and making it freemium. Made that in the first month.

My first $100 from sponsored posts was made in 2011, when people started to contact me privately to write about their products.

Right now I am not using adsense or any kind of display ads anymore. I do not offer my services to others in exchange of money anymore. I do not copy CDs anymore, but I am still making money from selling my own products, affiliate marketing and sponsored posts.

I made my first dollar in college. Was selling a raunchy sex book, and had about 60 subscribers. Then I said the heck with it and offered them the book for 50% off.

The next morning I woke up with 2 sales in the inbox. Fell out of my seat.

I died, went to hell, then came back to my body in pure amazement. Then I was hooked. I saw that earning a living online was *actually* possible.

I created my first course over at udemy and simply promoted it online. Gained alot of students and sales from it. Anybody can do it. It's free to set-up and consistent effort helps.

I made my first $ with an adult affiliate. I was quit lucky because I made about 200$ in the first month - right place at the right time.
