Best auto responder / email provider?

I have been using aweber, but wonder if there's a better service out there. What do you use, and which is the best? Specifically so far as deliverability, and ease of adding subscribers manually without requiring opt in confirmation(my biggest complaint with aweber). Would love to find one that I can integrate with a shopping cart solution so that the purchaser would automatically be added to an email list without making them "opt in".

    This is not a good idea. You have to be very gentle with your prospects. Make them feel that they can trust you because you respect their privacy and their peace of mind. You don’t want to bother them if they have changed their mind and they don’t really want to receive your messages. The confirmation is necessary if you want to be fair.


    On the other hand, if your subscribers are not really interested on what you have to say, they won’t open your messages.

    Creating a list is not a simple matter. You want to send messages to those who could become buyers. You don’t want to send messages to just anyone.

    You cannot force your subscribers to buy anything from you if you merely send them your offers. First of all you must capture their attention, and then, build a relationship with them.

      This isn't about prospects or subscribers. It's about paying customers - adding them to an email list which is essentially what they have paid for. Don't want to take their money and then make them opt in.

    I agree with you about Aweber and their force the double opt in policy. They have that option for you to click off and then it still forces the person to opt in. I guess I am a creature of going with the biggest brand. Aweber is the biggest brand. In the end the subscribers are proving that they are serious about wanting their incentive gift with Aweber. The fact that they give you a option but really don't give you a option is a bit strange.

    Aweber, GetResponse, iContact is most recommended by many Internet Marketers. So i don't look others.

    Hi TSM,

    GetResponse is integrated with 1Shoppingcart.com and allows you the option with this integration of turning off the opt-in confirmation. As well, if you are moving a list from another ESP to GetResponse, our compliance team can test the list for you and if it's healthy, waive confirming the entire list. Just contact support.

    Here's a snippet from our blog which I think answers your question:

    Every time someone places an order via 1ShoppingCart, our system adds to the selected campaign not only the customer’s name and email, but also the name of the product the customer purchased. Information held in this custom “product” field lets you determine which subscriber bought product A and which bought product B, etc.

    We also integrate with other major shopping carts such as OSCommerce and DPD.

    Yeah most of the marketers use Aweber .. as it is the most favorable and recommended Autoresponder.

    You gotta have to check out a different Autoresponder or a plugin that integrates with your Cart that automatically grabs the buyers Email id and submits it to your Autoresponder.

      As mentioned, I'd recommend to stick with AWeber. It's one of the most stable and high deliverability.

      The trouble we are having is 1 shopping cart (1sc) only puts people on 1 list in aweber - so with mutiple products how do you customise the follow-up into your integrated product plan? Is there a plug in or something that automates this without making them sign up again after purchase?

        OP - Just because someone purchases from you, it does not necessarily mean that they want to receive your marketing emails. So an opt-in is still required in order to comply with anti spam laws. Granted it doesn't need to be the full double opt-in - it could simply be a tick box (un-ticked by default) on the checkout page.

        The one exception regarding customers, is that you would be able to send them transactional emails without opt-in. That is emails related directly to the purchase they made (reciepts, notifications of expiring cover/membership, changes/upgrades in service etc) as long as it didn't contain further marketing.

    I use the pro version of GWA Autoresponder I wouldn't say it's the most user friendly but once you get the hang of it I doubt you will ever go back the other pay every month services. It's like having my own autoresponder service and installs right to my website. Plus if you are strapped for cash they have a totally free version of it too

    I like Aweber as it is simple to set up with less tech. knowledge. But usually your shopping carts' suport forum will have a recommendation even tutorial.

    You can turn the double opt in off in Aweber and as long as you have a follow up message they wont send a confirmation link. Ocassionaly they will just to make sure your not trying pull something shady so I set the confirmation link to go to the web page of my choice. Aweber has the best deliverbility and many more functions then other responders such as automation rules, segments, mailing un-opens and non-clicks and it's really easy to use.
    With my buyers after they make the pay pal payment I send them to a buyer opt in page because I email them the download link. Sure it's a little extra work but it doesn't take more then 5 minutes. I also send them to an OTO after they purchase the front end product so this gives me just a little bit more control and I know that my buyers are going onto my buyer list.
