If you had a choice when you were new....

Hi,
This is for you full time/half IMers: if you could go back to when you were first starting IM, would you hire a full time IM warrior to build your first website for you. (This would allow you to get a very professional website and then you get to copy him and make more!)
OR
Would you have someone do some keyword research and build your own website by scratch? Which would work better/ you would choose? Thanks

I would do option 2, except I would do the keyword research as it really isn't all that difficult...just time consuming.

My issue when I was new was not taking action.

I would have my website built for me and do the keyword research myself.

I did both myself and would do so again. How else do you learn?

Luckily I got it right first time, but I had a great product to help me, and that spurred me on.

      Good luck!

I will agree with BackLinkiT. In fact even now (almost 15 years later) I do that all the time. Fresh people can always bring more stuff to the table

If I had to go all the back to when I was new, neither of your questions would have been an option.

My first website was built using notepad and a browser.

There wasn't really any such thing as 'keyword research' as we think of it now. There certainly weren't service providers like you see today...

Ditto. And I still build web sites in notepad, 12 years later. :p

I built my own with a godaddy website builder. I also found my own keywords.

I too would do the very same today - except I probably would just jump right to wordpress. Build at least one site yourself. It only takes a short amount of time to watch some tutorials on the subject and you will be empowered by doing so.

The keywords - find a few, but most of them should come naturally from discussing your own topic.

lol, when I was new which was the old days, all I had to do was put a thousand words on a white background and make the words white and would rank #1 on aol in a day or two, google wasn't around yet.

But now If I had to start out again I would still build my own website. I learned alot by doing most things myself and I learned alot of lessons in the process. Now if I just had money to burn I would automate everything now. I feel I have dug my trenches and it's nice to sit back and let others do the work sometimes.

If I were still new at this I'd still say build your own website, create your own product but stay diligent with just one thing. Keep persistently pushing for what you believe in. I still find myself trying the latest strategies that make others tons of cash and it doesn't work for me. Sometimes taking action isn't enough, no matter how hard you try everyone will have different results even when following the exact step-by-step same systems that are sold on here. I'm still hoping to find my place in the IM world. Good Luck to you!!
