Stuck? Here's a list of niches with desperate buyers ;-)

I was doing some research using the secret strategies that were discovered by the Russians during a secret Siberia experiment in the 80's and I've discovered this:

PhobiaGuide.com - List of Phobias

Really good list of the most popular (wrong word?) phobias that are out there. Great resource for those who're stuck with niche ideas

To be honest with you some of the phobias listed are really crazy and I don't think that someone would buy an info product on how to get rid of that specific phobia, but who knows... Nowadays people are spending thousands on some crazy s***...

Anyway,

Hope it helps.
Rob.

  • You could always combine some of the more obscure phobias into one guide...

    OR

You could create a guide that explains the basics of getting rid of phobias. Regardless of the phobia, many of the general techniques are the same.

Word of caution: This really isn't the kind of guide that should be written without serious research or qualified input. There are too many urban myths about how best to get rid of phobias - any of which can do more harm than good.

That being said, it's a good example of a potentially hungry niche.

    All the best,
    Michael

    • I absolutely agree with you on this one, and I urge everyone to rethink twice before getting them selves into phobia niches, because this is some serious stuff, and someone can get really hurt if some smartass marketer decides to write some poor e-book or e-course on curing some kind of phobia with poor knowledge and research on the subject, and gets someone killed. This isn`t as simple as getting rid of zits or stuff like that.

    • Hi,

The great thing about phobias is that you can just make them up.

Just think of any kind of item, thing or situation, and you can almost guarantee that someone, somewhere, is using that phobia as an excuse to stay in bed all day and get people to feel sorry for them.

That one has been an epidemic as long as humans have walked the earth. We call it 'work-shy fever' - the bane of the 'professionally unemployed.'

  • Thanks for the list Robertas, very entertaining too...

    I could go on, lol

    I'm gonna print this out.

  • Sorry, but a true phobia is no laughing matter.

It may seem entertaining, but imagine trying to go through your day having a crippling fear of numbers, or anything else.

Would you make fun of someone if they had cancer? Depression? Brain damage? Paraplegia?

I know on the surface, these phobias can sound funny, so I'll get down from my soapbox now.

    • Bout time, I wasn't being nasty, just showing the lighter side of it

Was anything I said in that post malicious or nasty? Just because someone has a phobia doesn't mean they don't have a sense of humour, maybe you should lighten up a bit... Or are you the new proculator for the society of people with phobias?

  • Wow! It seems like the list is endless. It reminds me of the six basic fears mentioned by Napoleon Hill in his book "Think and Grow Rich:"

    The fear of:

    1. Poverty
    2. Criticism
    3. Ill Health
    4. Loss of Love of Someone
    5. Old Age
    6. Death

Napoleon offers great insight into how we can "outwit" them. Possibly it can add to Robertas suggestion of helpful niche information.
  • OK, phobias can be treated but let's leave that to the professionals.

If you are looking to *sell* something to "desperate buyers", then just check out some Clickbank products in the Self-help related area.

Promote one of those, or clone it and sell your own...

    • Well, at least one phobia could be funny?
Imagine having this one and someone asks you what you have?

      Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia- Fear of long words

excellent keyword BTW, covers lots of niches all in one domain, LOL
  • Rob,

I looked at the list. It was very interesting. I agree with you that some, or most, of the phobias are crazy. On the other hand, some of them are legitimate. In fact some of them are healthy too. Like fear of death and fear of drinking (if drinking means alcohol). Death is the ultimate truth--it is the unwelcomed end to everything that lives. I think everyone fears the thought of not being around anymore. As for drinking, people that fear drinking are better off than those who fear getting sober. I don't feel that this phobia needs any treatment. After all, you wouldn't want someone to cure you into being an alcoholic. but then again, this phobia could mean other things too.

The only phobia that I didn't see in the list was the fear of Demons. I don't know how many people in the forum believe in demons; but there are millions around the world who believe in demons as well as fear them to death.
