A long time ago when I was in IT we used to brain storm where technology was going.

One example was streaming video to the movie theater via satellite. That technology still isn't here as of yet... but my main question:

If my idea from 10 years ago is now a viable option today... am I too late? Chances are someone has already done it.. and possibly I should have implemented it earlier even with no possible traffic?

As a side note.. I am one of those guys that have several "ideas" but rarely implement them or just start and never finish.

If it's a viable idea it's a viable idea. If it's still viable, then go for it. If you never try, you'll never know. If someone has done it already, you can still learn from their mistakes.

Shame on you. You need to parner up with other people who can implement those ideas for you. Coming up with ideas is the part most people find the hardest.

You'll never know until you try. That's something if you keep in mind, you'll get far. It's basically the same concept I implement in IM in general - I set deadlines for myself, for example, I set a deadline of when I will launch a new site and even if the site is not 100% optimized and prepared, I'll still launch it.

Being a perfectionist is not a good approach. It's MUCH more important to try new things then get hung up on something perfectionizing it.

Lots of us have ideas, great and not so great - I have had many. A few didn't go anywhere due to lack of motivation, others due to lack of funding and backing (This was most frustrating as had interest in the products, just didn't have funds to get patent and produce the products :-( ).

You should try to implement your ideas because if you keep them in your head there is no use of them, nor for you nor for anybody else... just be careful if there is some investment needed because you don't want to go broke for following your ideas, but you have to act on making your ideas come true because otherwise they are of no use...

Here is the thing with ideas. You are going to have tons of them but the second a huge barrier is placed in your way you will do what most people do....QUIT! Don't even implement a idea unless you are willing to go to the ends of the earth to make sure your idea is successful. Its a waste of time if you don't have that mentality.

Facebook was late to the game. After all Myspace had it all sewed up. Right?

I agree with Danny. It doesn't matter if you are "late to the game" you just need to be better than your competitors.

I am one of those guys that gets and idea and implents the very next day if not the same day. For this exact reason I have had lots of success with my fair share of failures.

If you truly think you are onto something then give it a go. Life is far too short too wait

Thank for all the feedback guys and gals.

Yes, funding is a big issue, but for a site.. I think it is doable. Start small? and go for it?

I don't know exactly what kind of content you would like to stream live video to a movie theater.

And you can actually live stream video to pretty much anywhere nowadays, even movie theaters. I've heard that Tony Robbins live streamed his live event to movie theaters before. Also major tech companies like Apple, Oracle, etc. live stream across many places via satellite, including movie theaters.

Anyways, ideas are easy to come by. Implementing them and going for it is what many people fail to do.

    Best of luck.

Internet wasn't that long ago. Too late will never exist, but think about what you'll say in 30 years if you put this off now.

  • It is never really late to get involved with a valuable product. Look at how many cellular phone services there are, burger joints, computer manufacturers, and even web hosting companies. If you can be different, more reliable, faster, less expensive, better value or any combination you can still succeed.
