How to say "THANK YOU" on the WF!

I've been noticing that many new members are writing posts just to say "thank you" to another member or the OP. This wastes space and increases forum clutter - we're all here to read content not numerous thank you posts!

Please look for the button below each post that reads "THANKS" on the lower right. Simply press this button and your name appears below the post and credit is given to the poster. On WF, this system is important as it qualifies the poster for special WSO previews and review copies of future WSOs - so use this method and keep our forum lean and mean!

You can thank me for this thread below and / or add your own comments!

    • Good to see you back Michael!
      • [ 3 ] Thanks
    • Michael,

Thank you for your Thank You.

    • I can't stop laughing Michael :p:p:p

I just knew when I read the post some some was going to say thank you in a post.

When I scrolled down I was was not surprised to see it was you. You "ole clutter-er! "

BTW I do agree with the Professor, but he was just asking for it!

Now I'm going to leave my clutter here and run.....
    • Hahaha! I second on that Michael. Thank you
  • I can respect this thread. I have gotten people writing me thank you in comments when they can just press the thank you button. It increases credibility when you have more people thanking you. A lot of those missed thank you's are just useless posts like you said. I completely agree with your intent.
    • [ 3 ] Thanks
  • There's nothing wrong with showing some gratitude when someone goes out of their way to help you. In fact, this forum could do with more of it.

Sure, most of the time the thank you button is sufficient but I think sometimes it's nice to do both.
    • [ 3 ] Thanks
    • [2] replies
    • If all one wants to do is say thank you, then pressing the button should suffice. However, I agree with Ben in that it's good to get a post from someone who really appreciated your help with something....Especially if you went to the trouble of writing a time consuming post, or went to the trouble of spending a few minutes finding the perfect resource that would really help out a fellow warrior.
      • [ 2 ] Thanks

    • I agree with this, but also you can have overkill on the written thank yous. This post in general is good. Where was it in 2010??? LOL. It took me a while to 'find' the thank you button when I first started, I use it most often, but I too will occasionally say it with a written post.

  • Yes I agree. If you can do something that is faster and better, easier than that's the way to do it. This post will help because some people may not to realize how to do it.
    • [ 3 ] Thanks
  • While I "get" what you are saying, here is how I roll.

In the off line world if Someone says to me "have a nice day," or Shows me the way to the nearest place I ask directions to or tells me my car looks nice I say "Thank You." The equivalent of pressing the thank you button here.

If someone gives me something worth a lot of money to me or buys me a meal or any other number of Very Valuable and helpful deeds I write them a thank you note. The equivalent of posting here.

    IMHO

    George Wright

    • [ 3 ] Thanks
  • can someone thank me for saying thank you? =)
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • If someone else already mentioned this, then sorry for duplicate information. The "Thanks" button doesn't generate until you get to 5 posts. So new people (like me, haha) have to actually say "thank you" until the button shows up.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • Talk about things that "wastes space and increases forum clutter". This type of thread belongs in the "off topic" forum not the main forum.

Here is where we talk about making moolah not the appropriate way of saying thank you.
    • [ 6 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • You're right.(I'm not thanking you, my opinion)
  • Maybe we can ask the admin to remove the Thanks Button...lol
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • I've been wondering how people do that. But I don't have "thank you" button yet. This actually kinda funny. One has to build up a "rep" to say a proper "thank you".

    TX for clarifying this.
    • [ 2 ] Thanks
    • [2] replies
    • You'd think that would be the first thing they'd want a newbie to do to get things off on the right foot is to thank those that have helped them. I had to Google to find out how to say Thank You here, only to find out I couldn't until I have the required number of posts and then one thread I couldn't comment on cause I didn't have a sufficient number of posts to do that. Come on... help us out here.

    • same boat here, was always wondering where the "thank you" button was, now i knowit just bcause i'm shy :-)

  • THANKS...........
    • [ 2 ] Thanks

    • Totally agree. Its also a pain when you take the time out of your day to write something you think will genuinely help other people and you do not get thanked once. Its not as if we write stuff to get thanked but a little genorocity goes a long way. Just the other day I wrote a post about how to use QR codes which was so in depth that I could of easily sold it in the wso for 5 bucks and made a quick couple of hundred bucks. But because no one thanked me I got sad and deleted it

      Thanks

      -Andrei

p.s. ive gone ahead and thanked everyone in this thread that posted before me for good measure
      • [ 2 ] Thanks
  • My 'Thanks' button has now disappeared... what has happened?????:confused:
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • Mate you are only allowed to do 25 "THANKS" maximum in a day..!!!!!
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
      • [2] replies
  • Thank you lol, did you put this post up to just get alot of thank yous lol. I didnt by the way, I just posted.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Thanks for the post about the "Thanks" button!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I dont know whats worse, this thread or people actually saying thank you.
  • I always use the thanks button instead of just responding. I love the thanks button and I use it a lot.
  • I don't see anything wrong in doing both
  • Thank you Professor and I agree with you totally. And even though I am not guilty of the anomaly, I must say I noticed that button just two days before reading your post so i had not been using it prior. So anyone who thinks this post is not relevant is wrong. A new subscriber needs all the help they can get to use the forum effectively.

    Thankyou.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • A great way for new people to the forum to inflate their post count is to simply say 'thank you'.

Of course this isn't accompanied by simply pressing the 'thanks' button.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

  • Where is the thank you button?
    • [1] reply
    • Read the comments and you will see you need 5 posts.
  • Thats good to hear. I was wondering why there's not a thanks button for me.
  • I would like to thank you all but I can't.

    • What's the etiquette or general feeling about thanking all people who post to your thread?

Seems like overkill but you do want to show appreciation. Is it necessary?
  • Maybe it's the skeptical marketer in me but something tells me that you made this thread just to boost the amount of Thanks you get.

I could be completely wrong and I don't mean to offend you in any way. Just saying that it's sneaky and brilliant at the same time.

    • All I ever wanted is to thanked by my fellow WF warriors. They forgot how's the right way to thanked a member that helped them. It's much better if they will click the button down there than just saying thanks or Thank you. Well, those clicked Thank you button will give me satisfaction and drives me to help, give and share more.
      • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • I cooked up three thank you's last night .. was hungry again in less than ten minutes.
  • I wounder how many new people posted here in an attempt to get an extra thank you to there score .

In all seriousness, it doesn't take long to skip over a thank you in a thread, it is a nice touch in my opinion, sometimes you want to add more then just a thank you!
  • Awesome post. Got you a ton of thanks and conveyed a very important point. Two birds........... One stone.
  • One thing I noticed about the THANK YOU feature here on WaFo is the more you GENUINELY thank people, the more people thank YOU if you post something worthwhile. There's a form of reciprocity here. If you want quality, you have to give quality. I like it. That's the way it should be. There's no such things as something for nothing.

  • Can i say "like" instead of "thank you"? LOL!
Great posts. I love to read it.
    Thanks! :]
  • It's also good telling someone how you appreciate his effort in doing so. Well, it's up to you guys how you'll say thanks here. But I'll say... Thanks! all the same! huh!
  • is that what the "thank you" button is for?
  • Rosado, seriously though how hard can it be for you to scroll down a bit to skip the thank you??

Come on man, starting a thread about it is probably more of a waste of time than scrolling a millisecond longer to skip the thank you someone wrote.

Lets be real men around here and not use this forum to whine or complain about little stuff please.

    Gengis
  • It is a simple thing but it is a good post...It never hurts to have a reminder like this
  • Perhaps we could have a sarcastic Thanks button. That way, when someone writes absolute garbage, wasting our time, we could say "Thank You - Very Very Much (Not).

If you look at my side panel, you'll see that I always show my appreciation for contributions, help and effort (and that's not sarcastic).
  • I even ask for "thanks" in my signature, Thanks, Ed
