List and email question

Hello fellow warriors. I am working on my first blog opt-in type of website and I have some questions to anyone who is knowledgeable. I plan on trying out Aweber for my email lists..

1) Does it matter if I have the same articles on my blog as the ones I have posted on an article directory?

2) Should my emails be a shorter version of an entertaining syndication article except weave in a "I would recommend this" at the end?

3) After my first welcome email how often should I recommend something in further emails?

4) Should I match the article I am sending my list with the product I want to recommend?

    Hi Dm5k,

    Remember the people on your list are exactly that....people... but before I get to that I'll answer some of your questions.

    1) Make sure they are posted on your page and indexed by google before you syndicate them to the article directories and you will be fine....

    2) If you try and sell in every email without offering value....your list will be pretty unresponsive.

    3) I personally go for 3-5 pieces of content with no selling for every one email ad....

    4) You want an enticing headline so that your users are encouraged to open the email...

    Personally I would offer content on your list more often that you try to sell to them....think about it....do you like to be sold to on every email?

    Putting a article on your blog first is recommended. You cannot put that exact article on Ezine articles because they check to see if its out on the web. Any other place you should be ok.

    There is no exact answer to this. You will have to test. Sometimes long informative emails work better. Sometimes short and sweet. Think about yourself in their position and offer more value than trying to make sales.

    3) After my first welcome email how often should I recommend something in further emails?

    Deliver on the free gift and then start building a relationship. Give them content like you have in your articles. Use formatit to help you make more attractive formatted emails. For every 3-5 recommend a product.

    4) Should I match the article I am sending my list with the product I want to recommend?

    Always make sure its a related product that will help them solve their problem.

      The more unique and valuable the content the better your list will respond to you in the long run. Personally I send them to unique content rather than syndicated articles.

      I would stick with sending them unique content. That way you maintain the tone that your list is familiar with when you communicate with them. They would know whether an email is something that doesn't sound like you.

    (I tried that and did not do too well. Seems originality is key. I do not post on Article directories for that reason now.)

    (I am with the rest, in fact I give five to eight emails of information or programs before I send a marketing email out.)

    (I email about every three to five days. Seems to work best for me.)

    (I never mix lists. My lists get what they signed up for nothing less. I have been accused of spam because I have mixed before.)

      If you do not post on article directories how else would you get your articles syndicated besides actively searching for blogs to syndicate to?

      When you say you never mix lists you mean you stick as close as possible to the niche and email being sent when recommending something?

        I do apologize forgot to sign up for this threads new posts.

        I use articles on my sites and I hope my google sitemaps take over after that.

        Alot of times I don't even put links on the article pages just directly in the article.

        From I have see with article marketing is this. Its almost stupid but there are so many directories now that I do not believe google supports aritcle directories as much as they used too. I get quite a few reads on my articles. I am an expert author many times over on ezines, Disclaimer; I am not a writer I hire a very good ghost writer. I get very few clicks. I have tested several different signature lines and even paid a 1000 for one from a top guru. It helped by as much as five percent. Not enough for the thousand I spent and got half my money back.


        Some people make a mistake of having one list. Just one and then I guess out of laziness use that one autoresponder code for all opt-ins. My lists are targeted to a specific niche. So if I have a list of Dog trainer, I may even have a list for dog trainer videos. I may send them the same autoresponder I may not. Just depends on how wide a gap in the list is all.

        Now if I had a broadcast announcement. ie; lets say that I am selling one of my websites. I will send that email to all of my list. With something of a headline like, I need your help and hope you don't mind me mailing this too you but I have a website that is earning money and have decided to sell do to reason a to z. Maybe you know someone...ect.
