Money - The Economy is the big story for the year. Anything related to making, saving, finding, losing, and having more money is huge!

Employment - Similar to money, but more people will be looking to start their own businesses this year due to downsizing, layoffs, pay freezes...etc.

Health - Always top of mind.

Here's why I disagree with your #1 and #3...the rise of "smart consumerism" (a niche in and of itself) has increasingly been hitting mainstream media so the pool of people who have computers and are stupid enough to buy into those scams (and I'd LOVE someone to post some "evidence" that they aren't scams...who are we kidding here), is quickly dwindling (thank god).

Some general trends I predict without giving away my targets are:

Free 2 Play games (I recall reading somewhere that the casual games segment grew something like 27% this year)
DIY Info Products (people are looking to save money by repairing and creating things themselves)
Education (a saturated market for sure, but there will be a lot of people looking to go back to school if they can't find a job)
Internet Marketing (duh)

my take on this thread

Education- not college either, Entreprenurial/Advanced Mentorship , as jobs dwindle and the economy continues to slow, more and more people will be looking for information that they can use too implement for income, however there will be huge need for Mentors to teach this, and too GO too when they need help, or help staying focused and on track.

I found it amusing as hell, a nice way of saying learn how too spell, and for that, i am not going to spell the word spell right by putting in Spelt, i just found a whole lot of humor in it, perhaps my dryness.... The best Niche for 2009 is definetly:
1. Health
2. Wealth
3. Web
4. Organic
5. Alternative energy

Well there is alot of Niche's out there but the main ones will be Health because without health cant do pretty much anything else..

I think that health and wealth will always be great niches.

What I think people are attracted to nowadays are:
Politics, news--especially financial/economy news--and security.
People are also tuned in to bail out news.
If someone can write a book detailing where the money went and where the rest of it is going, as well as how to get a piece of it, it will be a killer



I really believe that internet marketing will be and is tops! People with a lot of education will be in front of their home computers and out of a job. They will be looking for ways to create revenue streams using the knowledge they already have. IM guys! Look here's the deal: Internet marketers selling to wanna be Internet Marketers, information on how to become successful using internet marketing! Warriors are in the Catbird seat. There are people coming out of the workforce every single day! They are looking for something quick. A quick fix. Get a paypal account and a great product and they can start generating cash right away! Wow! What a world we live in! That's what we as marketers have to look forward to in 2009 and 2010.

Take all of the knowledge we've learned, all of the PLR's we've purchased and recycle all of that to a brand new market! Make sense? See you at the top!

Personal development is a booming industry in 2009!

According to market research and statistics, it is a 64 billion dollar industry worldwide. In the US alone, an estimated 9.6 billion dollars is invested in personal development.

It is also projected that this industry will grow at the rate of 11.4 percent yearly and reach 13.9 billion dollars in 2010.

Essentially, people are beginning to realize that a life time is too short for one to learn from their mistakes and it is actually smarter and faster to learn from successful people who have done what you want to achieve.

1st) Online Money Making niche including forex will be on the top position, because people are loosing their jobs everywhere so they need alternative ways to make money.

2nd) Health - weight loss & mental health products, because people need to take care of mental health during recession time.

Personally, John, I'm pretty confident in saying that's an incorrect statement or assessment.

And, yup, coming from me ( somebody who you think SHOULD find all the facts in the world to support what you say above ), it's something to put a critical eye too.

First thing's first though: personal development isn't a TREND. It's a mainstay i.e., something that most intelligent, ambitious, sales, entrepreneurial-minded people engage in or at least rub elbows with at some point or another.

Here's the rub though: the MASSES or the majority -- as in the J-O-B crowd or anybody else whose livelihood doesn't depend on it or whose acceleration and business growth isn't predicated upon it -- only spend money on themselves ( their inner-world ) in BIG ways when things are GOOD.

When things are BAD ( and, let's not be in denial here, things are bad - do your homework via alternative media outlets ), personal development is the LAST thing the MASSES spend money on.

KEY word: Notice I said the masses... in a recession, the masses, instead, spend it on "business opps," "booze, "hookers," and "cheap entertainment."

Just calling it like I see it, and how it's been over many many years in boom and bust times.
