Gaming would be pretty good for you to write about, but it all comes down to just one thing. What's the one topic that you could talk about for hours upon hours and never get tired of talking about it?

    That's what you should pick.

Gaming and Internet marketing are usually very profitable. With gaming you have plenty of cpa offers to choose from that pay very well.

My "Ultimate How To Find a Niche Guide"

    1. Join the War Room

    2. Read the second oldest post there, started by Jack Duncan and continued by some other brilliant Old Farts

    3. Make a stupid amount of money

    That being said:

    1. Yes, there is clearly money in gaming, it is a multi-billion dollar industry. I have several gaming sites and a decent list, if you put something nice together let me know.

    2. Money is hard to make in Anime because of all the piracy, you have to be creative, (and my wife has already dominated the niche and crushes all competitors, haha) but you might make a few dollars if you get a lot of followers and ask for donations or run advertisements. Probably not much for a long time, however.

    3. Internet Marketing niches seem so very boring... Anyway you should wait until you're able to actually do it before you try to make money teaching it, otherwise you'll end up like 99% of the other failures.

    4. There are more people trying to Freelance than there are people hiring them, so you really have to set yourself apart.

    5. A blog about blogging? That's like article marketing about article marketing...

yes if you pick something you already know a lot about it makes adding content that much easier. I'm in the IM niche but if Gaming is something you are passionate about as far as i know it is a profitable niche

Don't do IM if you haven't made a lot of money doing it. It is so obvious when people try to market IM strategies, etc., and they haven't actually made money themselves doing it. It's like being a business consultant having never run your own business.

So true, its like getting financial advice from someone who is broke:rolleyes:
For the OP... I would try and tackle the gaming niche. I've had success in both IM and the Gaming niche so I know from experience.

Video games are a big niche. In addition to promoting the actual video game, you can cross promote a game system that the game you are reviewing can be played on. I've noticed that when people look up video game reviews, lots of times, they will do it based on the game system that they have. Here's another tip. I've noticed that lots of upcoming video game released are advertised on Youtube before they come out and have lots of competition. The last one I noticed this for was the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare I'm sure you could do something similar with computer games.

The make money niche is obviously a big one as well. Blogging is a sub-niche. People are always going to be looking for ways to make more money. There's a site called JV Notify Pro that tells you about upcoming launches before they happen. All you have to do is position yourself to make the most of them. One more thing. You don't have to scam people to make money in this niche. You can always tell people the truth and recommend something that's the real deal instead of a crap product.

    Good luck,
    Joey

I would recommend you choose a micro-niche (and long tail keywords) dependent on your general niche. The niches you stated above are completely competitive and will take a literal 'miracle' to succeed in them, especially for an average person without millions of dollars to invest in advertising. Choose a general niche based on the recommendations of people above, then investigate and choose a micro-niche and several long tail keywords that you want to rank for.

I know there are niches in gaming that are huge...World of Warcraft has an enormous following for example... they have very dedicated players too

I suggest you use the Google keyword tool and analyse each of your interest. Use it to generate thousands of keywords in each of the niches and then sort out the long tails and check for competition. It may take a lot of time but it is worth the effort.

If you want an effective keyword for your blog use Adwords in Google, you can search there keywords that is relevant and effective, just try. If you don't want, I would suggest have a thorough research about the keywords that you want and you'll get some ideas there.

Any Niche that has a physical product is a great place to start. You're almost guaranteed there will be advertisers paying for those keywords, and products you can link to on amazon.

If you're into Gaming, there's no reason you can't sell physical games through amazon.

On the other hand, if I was a hardcore gamer, I'd create awesome guides and walkthroughs for games, and sell them. It's much better when you can keep 100% of the profits!

The topics you mention aren't niches. You want to drill down to something like "niches in gaming that are huge...World of Warcraft" as mentioned by mimi k.

The more specific your target, the more success you'll have. Using World of Warcraft as an example. If you can get into something that is popular inside the World of Warcraft, you'll even have more success, faster.

Not at all. If it is a profitable niche you can do very well just laser focusing on one aspect of it. It is true though that it may not be an evergreen niche but sometimes you can get in and get out and do well.

Since you are so good at creating and promoting Squidoo lenses, why not test out some of your ideas and see how profitable they are before creating full out websites. Send me a PM if you need a little help on how to direct your topics to make them profitable.

Picking the right niche involves a few things:

    1. is the niche one of your passions?
    2. is the way you're approaching the niche one of your strengths?
    3. are people spending money in the niche?

The niches you're considering all seem to be profitable. I think the question is whether you're passionate and have an advantage in the niche.

I play video games, mostly one platform and I do know a lot about the niche, It sounds like a good niche to jump into but its going to be so competative which means that I need to work hard to get seen/noticed..

To be honest, most niches are competitive. Your best bet would be to focus on something very specific, which would be easier to succeed in. You can always grow from there. I'd recommend you do something you are passionate about. If it is video games, just choose a particular game or series and start off from that. Get all its fans visiting your website, and then extend it to other games. Make sure you choose your first game wisely after doing extensive keyword research etc. Best of luck.

So focusing down on a specific game or series should your domain name be that specific game`s name keywords? or should you keep the domain name general so you do not limit your "theme" of the blog?

It depends on the competition involve. If you make your domain name that specific game`s name keywords, you stand a chance of beating many other websites that does not have that name in their url.

Here's the easy way to pick a niche AND know if it's profitable in less than 15 minutes...

First, choose something you know about in the beginning. Not only because you wont lose interest and get bored, but also because you most likely know the "Secret Language".

Next, type in a general keyword into google to start finding out what people are actively searching for. You do this by looking at the related searches and clicking on those. This is google telling you exactly what folks are searching for.

While you're doing this look for adwords ads. If people are spending money on advertising you can usually bet there's money in the niche. If you see no adwords that's a red flag. The exception would be trademark issues.

Now, if you're already an active consumer in your market and you know the secret language, you have a big advantage because you already probably know what people like you are searching for. And, you know how to talk to them.

As an example my first niche was the Jeep market. This market is fanatical about their Jeeps and they spend all kinds of money on upgrades. When I entered the market I already knew the language, I already knew what they liked to buy, and I knew were they hung out so I had a huge advantage.

As far as considering IM niche... A lot of newbies feel compelled to go after this one most likely because they've bought so much stuff and feel they know the market. Sure there's money in it, but it's a tough nut to crack and you're dealing with a much different type of consumer than any other niche.

Have you tried addiction niches? The market is evergreen and the people are usually more desperate to buy (just make sure you have a product that can really help them).

I like the way you think. I don't care much about what personally interests me when it comes to my business, I look for evergreen niches with needy customers. Find a quality product(MAJORLY IMPORTANT, even desperate people can see crap as being crap so ALWAYS find quality products to pitch) and deliver it to them.

I do have a couple of blogs on things I enjoy blogging about, but I handled big money business first. Now if the blogs that I do for my own interest and fun are profitable, even better!

I say research them all and then pick your niche. You don't want to prematurely jump into niche just because you like it and then not make any money. A lot of niches you mentioned are very competitive but don't let that deter you away.

If you enjoy Gaming and think you can offer unique, valuable content to your users then it's a niche that you could def get into.

Gaming is HUGE and getting bigger all the time. The key would be to find a profitable sub-niche and set yourself up with a strong domain name. I'm a big fan of searching and searching until you find an Exact Match Domain that pulls in good monthly search traffic.

Do some research on your competitors for that keyword and bam - make your site, optimize the hell outta it and start cashing in!
