Whats Your Outlook For 2012? All Doom & Gloom?

First I just want to wish my good friends here at the WF
happy new year! my very best wishes to you for 2012!

OK, so who thinks the world economy or one particular
country's economy is going to collapse or go into recession?

Or, who thinks its the end of us all with the ending of the
Mayan calendar? Is 2012 going to be better than 2011?

Love to hear your thoughts on this

Good news for economies that are already in the pits - there's no way for them to go further down.

So, the only option left is to go up in 2012.

Hmm... I live in Spain, and that's not exactly what we are thinking here. Time will tell, though...

For me it's just another year... I respect any other beliefs, but this is mine regarding the mayan calendar...

Regarding the economy, I think it will get uglier. Things are getting worse and worse. I don't see much improvement in that field. The same goes with crime, violence, etc.

It's not that I'm negative. It's just that the trend is not changing...

Hmm.. well.. let me whip out my crystal ball here...

nice... it says I'm going to grow an extra 6" inches

But yeah I agree with Loloy.. things can't get much worse.. or can they?

I just know that it sucks to get 75 Japanese yen for every US$1.

If the world ends, it will be a whole lot less for us to worry about hey..

lol, myob. I have no clue on what is going to happen. I just don't want what happened in Japan to happen over where I am. I am hoping that all of this 2012 talk is just talk. If not it was nice knowing you guys and girls.

That niche is finished because all scientists agree that there is nothing significant about 12/21/2012 at all. No galactic alignment, planetary conjunction, astronomical event, black hole collision, polar shift, devastating asteroid impact, mass annihilation, alien invasion, timewave, I Ching. Nothing out of the ordinary will happen to our planet ... until 2038: How to Survive A Collision With An Asteroid But, that's another marketing niche.

        Hmmmmm..............

I'm pretty confident many economies are going to be even worse in 2012. At least for the man(woman) in the street.

I spend a lot of time in Greece and I can tell you that it will be even worse here next year and also in a lot of other EU countries.

Things I expect to happen in 2012

        1. My online business will grow
        2. The bins will get emptied less
        3. The beach cleaner will be conspicuous by his absence
        4. I'll still have more fun than I did last year

Things that I don't expect to happen in 2012

        1. The world will end

My view is that if I can make a living in the current climate then business will get even easier when this whole thing turns around.

And it will.. not sure when but it always does.

wow this thread could really turn into a hot bed of politics and other topics...

i'll just say i trust 2012 will bring me steady business in my niches. i guess religiously speaking i don't believe the world will end in 2012. however, it's hard to say the economy as a whole making huge leaps or booming this year, though i am starting to see some signs in my life that things are not looking quite as bleak, at least around my part of the world. times are still genreally tough though. heck, even the murder rate was down in my city, so i guess things aren't quite as dark and terriblle as they could be

But that gives you over 11 months of pure profit before your visitors discover the world didn't end. Do what others are doing - milk it.

I've been swimming upstream since early 2009 Everything had gone wrong and I was about to go down myself - so I switched to high gear and worked harder and faster and longer. I pulled myself out of the hole - still not sure how.

In 2011 I doubled my income from 2010 - in 2012 I plan to do it again.

Too many marketers think IM is only an uphill climb. It's not - there are plateaus and slippery slopes but if you hit one you have to do something about it. Whining isn't an option.

Kay, I love what you wrote here. I pretty much said the same thing but with different words in another thread.

I believe 2012 is going to be a good year. It has started out a little rocky for me, but that isn't going to stop me from continuing on with my dreams and goals.

I'm not buying into any of the fear-mongering, doom and gloom scenarios. What for? How will doing so serve me or the people I care about in my life?

No, a new world consciousness is coming. I can feel it. So let's all look forward to the rest of 2012 with hope and anticipation.

There are a lot of "artificial" forces keeping the markets going the way they are and it's for a reason.
I agree with that. There's a lot of puffery disguising a weak foundation - but for the coming year....let's monetize the hell out of it

Karen - Rocky for me today, that's for sure. I have an unopened new version of Dragon Naturally Speaking sitting on the credenza but I'm busy trying to catch up with a writing project. So my wrists are tired and hurting but I don't have time today to start training the Dragon! Conundrums...I need the world to stop and let me get off for about 2 weeks so I can catch up with my life.

          We'll get there.:p

oh! that's the next piece of software I'm getting, Kay. I too would love a few weeks off somewhere very peaceful so that I can re-energize...but it looks like that isn't going to happen until possibly March.

            Good luck with the Dragon!

The economy in the states is suffering. But, it's an election year so watch for the pols to do everything they can to keep it propped up. Hell, the Dow is near record highs. Record highs in the stock market almost never come during a recession. There are a lot of "artificial" forces keeping the markets going the way they are and it's for a reason. Hey, vote for me!

As for the end of the world stuff. Yawn. I mean, if it happens there's nothing you can do about it anyway. But there are people out there who believe it wholeheartedly. I'd say it's a fairly healthy market too. Why not figure out what they need and want and give it to them? Isn't that what we do?

  • Well, despite the general world condition being more dire than it's ever been, I've also seen such amazing signs of hope and helpfulness and awareness that I'm more optimistic for this New Year's than I've been in decades. For those who see what the changes mean it will be a very wonderful and profitable time. Shift Happens.

Am looking at it this way, people will continue buying stuff. Sure, priorities will change but money will still be changing hands. The challenge is how to position oneself in a favorable position.

Some countries, however seem to be on the way to rough waters.
As for the end of the world, I don't believe this crap one little bit! Good luck to those monetizing the hoax.

All the Doom & Gloom is coming from Fox News. People who are not out of touch with reality can see that the economy is plainly getting better... But either way, it's good for IMers.

Its great to see all the cool feedback & thoughts here! Thanks
    for sharing

Sure there is no denying that we are living in some very dire times,
you don't need to look at the TV. Just talk with you neighbors.

From bankruptcy, to unemployment & crime its all on the rise globally.

However throughout history we've faced some incredibly tough times
& challenges, & beaten them to become stronger. How do I know this?

Well, we're all alive and still kicking right

There is an old saying my Irish great grandpa would say, "when times
are tough you can either cry or sell tissues". I'm sure you've heard this
before in some shape or form before.

Opportunity is everywhere right now. Online/Offline. Combinations of both.

I guess the real question to ask ourselves is, "is the glass half empty or full?".

Perception of how we see things & what we believe in decides our future.

Is our belief there that we (you & I) can create a better future for ourselves,
our families & for future generations?

All of my neighbors also say that things are getting better... But I'll save my political views for another forum. Yeah, "cry or sell tissues", I like that, that's good.

I'm excited for what 2012 has to offer. Actually, I'm a lot more unstable financially than I was last year because of a lot of personal things due to the economy, but this has really motivated me to make 2012 my best year yet in IM.

Many of you have answered your own question. About 3 years ago, I put myself in niches that I thought would be ok.

They are booming more than ever even thought the economy sucks right now. That is what research is all about. Even if the economy collapses I will still be ok. Now if the earth ends, and I get squashed by a giant asteroid, well that is another story. fingers crossed!
