What took your earnings to the next level?

Hi Warriors,

I would like to know what did you do to take your online business to the next level in terms of income. I mean at first we build our businesses up to $500-$1000/month... but then we start to scale and improve our strategies to take our business to the next level ($3k-$5k or more per month).

What was it that you do to take your online business to the next level?

For me it was mostly product creation. What was it for you?

After a couple of years of "playing", I began writing much more seriously for Kindle during the last quarter of 2011, and I must be doing something right because my few books took off pretty fast and brought me an income I never expected.

This has provided me with the obvious new path I'm going to pursue and expand throughout 2012.

Definitely reaching new markets inside our work base. System is the same, team is the same, but the audience is wider - so are the profits.

    Action, analyze, refine, action. Repeat.

Stopped reading WSOs and books, blogs, newsletters on marketing and committed all that time and money to action.

Lots of action. Writing content everyday, spending only 30 minutes to check email and WF and FB, shutting down all interruptions, writing content and posting it everyday.

Great advice, well said and congrats on your success

Well, the change for me was buying a piece of software from another Warrior (Matthew Iannotti) about a year ago for my "offline" business. It enabled me to create and print off lists of targeted prospects to call in 30 minutes instead of spending hours laboriously trawling through online listings.

I sooo agree. But I also think product creation and building that list is what can really take you to the next level without having to laboriously trade your time for money. Also building relationships is underestimated, but JVs can take you to the next level quicker.

Yes this is spot on. Focusing one something and really working on it. Don't check your email 20 times a day, don't just read posts here. Take action and make mistakes. If you keep doing that day after day you will start to see results.

I'd have to say... focusing all of my energy into what was working for me already (on a small scale) and just scaling/doing more of it. That pretty much sums it up.

edit: thought I should add this - not all services/techniques are simple to scale. It has to be something that you can outsource/automate without much effort.

    - Focusing on improving the rankings of sites that are already getting traffic
    - Finding new things to sell on the sites that either convert better or have better commisions
    - Experiment, experiment. experiment. I don't mean try a dozen different things. I mean: anazlyze,
determine a possible profitable course of action,
    execute the action
    measure the results

    - Telling people what I am going to do and then trying not to publicly fail.

For me it's when my website went from page 3 to page 1. After that, I keep getting lots of leads.

Another one was just revamping the look of a site which is rank number 1 on both google(country) and google.com for a weight loss keyword. Started receiving leads one week after I changed the outlook of the site.

Conclusion is do more backlinks and learn to 'spy' on your competitors to take your business to the next level.

For me, it was about personal presentation and positioning.

When you know your product (or in my case, my service) is gold it's simply a matter of building a reputation and then positioning yourself accordingly.

For example, I started out writing for 3 dollars for 500 words. Pretty ridiculous right? But I bummed around there, until I had testimonials to back up my skill.

When no one knows anything about you, they're concerned about just how good you are. When you have a long list of people all recommending you, and backing you up, then it gets easy.

That's when you increase your prices. I wanted to set myself apart from most of the rookie writers on the internet - they charge 5 dollars for an article because they're crap, they don't care about anything but money, and they're simply out to get all they can.

I write purely because I love writing; I make money as a result of that. My price simply reflects my skill, and cuts out the bottom feeders who want good quality for rock-bottom prices.

Anyway, this is already longer than I wanted it to be.

But there you have it. Hope this helped ya.

    Ben.

Same as you Frankie, product creation and taking action. Now I'm looking at other ways to make money to diversify and build my income further.

And the way to take action is to have faith in yourself. There's no point taking action if you're already expecting to fail. Look at the people who are successful and believe that you can do it to!

Taking consistent, focused action and building a "buyer's" list....not freebie seekers. Maintaining focus on your objective with consistent action will always equal progress.

Focus includes better time management....At some point you have to stop reading emails and wsos and start implementing on a regular basis.

Once this happens, you begin to see the next level...whatever that is for you...more money..more subscribers..more websites...better sales funnels...better conversions...or all of the above

Leverage can move you up several levels at a time, much like climbing stairs in leaps and bounds. You can leverage your time (delegation), talent (training others), resources (financing), marketing (article syndication), etc to name just a few. Using this principle of leveraging your expansion, earnings grow exponentially.

Aside from product creation, what took my methods to the next level was actually LEARNING them.

Too many people look for step-by-step programs (which are great), but you still need to learn to adapt them and modify them to your advantage. When you learn WHY people react to certain methods, you can improve upon them and make tweaks that increase your earning.

Setting up systems that were automated as much as possible.

Outsourcing as much of the process as possible.

The biggest thing that ramped up income was deciding to actually train, one on one, my affiliate base. Then supply them with the tools and resources needed to automate their systems that send me traffic.

People think that they can get a huge number of affiliates and give them a link and make millions. It usually doesn't work that way. Take the time to train 10 people and make it simple for them to use your system .. they might not make you money for a couple of weeks but in the long run .. it pays off.

Consistency... establishing good, daily, habits and "choice" management.

Leverage... as mentioned above by myob - this is so important.

Focus... do what you do best, outsource the rest.

    Raised my fees...
for copywriting, coaching, consulting. Services are a great way to make incredible income online, but your clients won't value your time any more than you do - provide top value, charge more.

Target... one market at a time and create products ONLY for that market until you have a full stable of consistently selling products, all in that genre. (this works for affiliate products and marketing also... stick to one market with many niches at a time, build your list).

Build Your List! I didn't do this for my first seven years - service business just made me stupid or something. Build your list, start now, take care of your lists - you'll ramp up your income streams exponentially.

Fail... failing is NOT failure. Put yourself out there, take action, implement, execute, stand up and get noticed for heavens sake, create something, connect, network, help others succeed, provide value - and screw it all up in the process if you have to - you can adjust and try again and, this time, you'll know what not to do which will get you closer to what you should.

Failing is just an indication that you at least did SOMETHING! Now, keep moving forward... "Forward, ever forward."

"Fail forward faster.. for success." overcome the fear, get off your back-side and do something.

My $20k plus months used to be inconsistent... one month on, three months off. That is service business suicide.

Diversify... provide services or coaching, create products, develop programs, create courses, do affiliate marketing, engage in JV partnering, connect and do product partnering, give seminars, do webinars, etc. I know that some people can make a million dollars doing just one thing, but smart marketers recognize that you can do much, much more than that by doing as many of them as is practical. Don't get stuck with one model or approach, diversify.

    Persevere...
never give up, never quit. Not a way to get over the OP's plateau really, although it's pretty dang hard to make more if you quit, agreed?

... Not a comprehensive list, but a good start.

Once I figured what was working, I did it over and over and my income grew and grew$ I focused on a few projects, only those that worked and scaled them up.

I try to do something on each project each day or every other day.

I've developed a process that works. Now I'm training others (outsourcing) to do much of it. This way I can scale up more.

My growth was pretty predictable and most of us were pretty content with the revenue. When I started looking into seeing what an outside loan would possibly do for us and started getting creative, I ended up cutting some overhead and unneccessary expenses and got stricter with my budget. Within a very grueling year, I saved enough money to start doing bigger things such as hiring programmers to develop stuff that was designed for our specific needs instead of using things that weren't (Intuit, Vendio, Terapeak, ChannelAdvisor and its similar comeptitors, etc), focusing more on specific inventory and dropping low profit, slowly moving inventory that I was previously afraid of letting go and then later getting risky with noncompetitive perceived value items is what really grew revenue. After a while, I was able to create a better logistics system that turned out to be cheaper.

This is essentially the story of how I became a multimillionaire in 2010 to 2011 in selling physical goods online on multiple platforms.
