Is my friend going to get a copyright infragment?

So, my friend is a product creator and i have a question about what he wants to do.

He has bought an eBook that has very useful information in it and he wants to use that information in his eBook. If he uses a couple of chapters from that eBook but changes most of the wording up will he get a copyright infragment. Is this allowed?

This is not legal advice but simply changing wording doesn't always cut it. He definitely could get in trouble if its copyrighted. Now if he pulls ideas from multiple sources and rewrites it, that would simply be research.

Tell your friend that what he's thinking of doing is called "creating a derivative work", which is indeed a copyright violation.

Before some fool chimes in and tells you it's okay because ideas can't be copyrighted, know that there's a difference between using another work for inspiration and simply rewording someone else's work.

    Hope this helps your "friend"...

Hey Preston, i think this mainly relies upon whether your friend bought the product, or both the product and the private label rights to it, if only the product, yes i would recommend not re wording anything but finding something related and better to add. if its just a couple paragraphs you can touch on the general idea but ultimately you'll want to add your own content
    hope this helps
