They only send out a cheque once your earnings reach the $100 mark so you only pay the fee whenever you reach $100 in sales. If you make over 100 every month then you pay the $15 fee every month. I'm not sure if changing the payment threshold reduces the fee you have to pay as I haven't tried it.

here are several advantages to choosing to be paid by direct deposit instead of by check:

The minimum payment threshold for direct deposit is only $10, compared to $100 for checks.
We deduct a $15 processing fee from all monthly checks sent to Associates, but there is no charge for payment by direct deposit or gift certificates.
Direct deposit payments are completely secure and reach your bank account three to seven days faster than paper checks.

If your billing address is outside the United States, and direct deposit is, therefore, unavailable to you, we will waive the $15 fee.

Cheque, and I'd highly recommend opening a US dollar bank account because they only pay in USD. That way you can do the conversion on your own terms, and not suffer an extra charge at the bank when they do the conversion for you.

God I did not think about that - the cheque will be written out in USD.

That isn't necessary at all, Luke.

Almost any UK bank will allow you to open a UK current account in US$, if you're being paid regularly in US$ cheques and want to. But still, one way or another, you're almost certainly going to exchange that money at some point, aren't you?

There are other alternatives, too - and far simpler ones than trying to open a bank account in America as a non-resident (that is possible, but it's pretty difficult and can be expensive, too). You can use a UK bank that's well known for fast clearance and decent exchange-rates on foreign cheques ... or you can use a British Channel Islands bank where they're used to these transactions and charge no more for them than for anything else. The whole thing isn't such a problem at all, really.

I am from India. In my case, the only option that I have as an Amazon affiliate is to get paid in US$ checks (and the $15 is waived off because I do not reside in the USA, so that's a bit of relief for those of you who are not earning so much on Amazon). I have to deposit it in my bank account, which happens to accept US$ checks also.

The problem that I face at times is that the check goes missing. So then I have to write to Amazon again, they have to invalidate the initial check and then issue me another check - I seem to have got every second check so far though - so don't ask me what happens if the second check it also lost. But yes it is a nightmare at times.

By the way, Amazon is such a weird platform - I was trying to buy a Kindle today from their online portal when I realized that they don't even ship Kindles to India. That kind of sounds absurd but it's true ...

Hi Luke,

I live in the UK also.... I get paid by cheque .... it's a bit crap though as the cheque is in US$ so when you go and deposit it, the bank charges you a 'conversion' fee which sucks.. If you are just starting out with Amazon then I'd set the minimum payment threshold to around $300+ that way you get more money at the end of the day when you deposit the cheque into a UK bank

yes, it is possible to set up a U.S. bank account. I did this and get my Amazon affiliate sales paid directly to my U.S. bank account.

However, getting a U.S. bank account is somewhat difficult and is something I would only recommend if you want a U.S. based business or if your Amazon affiliates sales made it worthwhile to go to the hassle and expense of getting a U.S. bank account,

It's a problem, my country charges insane ammounts to cash a cheque, for a $100 cheque we get charged around 80 euro. It's a pain in the ass but the solution would be to setup a US bank account, I beleive there is a UK bank that can help you with that. Let's see if I can find the link.

Yes found it, its about opening a US dollar account at Citibank in the UK. Not allowed to post links yet but a quick Google should help you out.

US Bank Account is the solution. Getting a US bank account is not difficult. Payoneer offer a Virtual Account which accept ACH payments. I use payoneer virtual account collect Amazon payments. It works well.

Try living in China

I got my first Amazon cheque, for September, in the middle of December, took 3 weeks to get here from the States.

Bank of China do lodge foreign cheques, so, having a Bank of China account, I thought there'd be no problem.

They wouldn't touch it... as it didn't have "USA" on the cheque, just the words, "Dollars"

So... they couldn't tell, what Dollars... even though it had Amazon on the cheque, and an US address in Denver.

I posted the cheque back to Ireland... where it will take 20 days to clear... once it gets there.

I've now set up my account so they go directly to Ireland.

And yeah, what I did was walk into my bank and luckily they let me set up a US Dollar account attached directly with my chequing and savings accounts. No extra charge, either. I can deposit my USD cheques directly into my USD account, they clear instantly, and I'm free to do with the funds as I wish. I would certainly rather have direct deposit, though.

I'm not sure how UK banks work, but I'm sure there must be a bank over there that will let you open an account in US dollars. You'll have to do your own research there.

I get payment by check and encash it at a nearby money changer.

I get a lower rate than the current exchange rate but saves me waiting time than depositing it on a dollar account and wait 1 month to clear.

So this is possible? I'd like to know because I have an Amazon gift card that I received by email as payment from Amazon Associates and I'd like to try and sell it.

I was told by someone who is also part of the Amazon Associates program that they couldn't even give it to someone else to use on their account. Then again they lived in different countries, so maybe that had something to do with it.

Amazon Associates US site says, and I quote:

Personally, although I'd prefer electronic transfer, I don't find depositing USD denominated checks every now and then particularly taxing.

Stop worrying, get cracking, and when the time comes, you might find yourself taking those suckers to the bank with a spring in your step. I prance there and back like Mary Poppins, but substitute a bottle of Jack Daniels for the brolly. It gets me just as high, baby.

Don't know about other banks but our HSBC business acc was no problem to put $ cheques in, and charges weren't too high.
Eventually though we opened a $ account as well, most of what we pay for goes out in dollars, so why lose on converting it twice?
Most banks should allow you to open a $ account alongide your sterling one.

This is a sore subject for most, that said opening a US bank account can be done. I live in the UK and have a US bank account with routing number and account number. To open a personal bank account will take about 3-4months, but i some cases it can take longer if you get something wrong.

However, I also recommend people to incorporate a business in the US thus opening a bank account, which will be a lot easier, rather calling a bank in the US and saying "can i open a u.s account" even though you have no ties to the US. i.e forwarding address or proof of address.

Dont get me wrong this can still be achieved, but it will take a bit longer.

If you want to open a personal account, you can get a forwarding address then sign up a pre-paid credit card service and get them to send out a statement to your forwarding US address NOT PO, or find out if they have a online statement where you can view online and print, this will be your proof of address. But as i mentioned above this will take sometime to do, that is why I always suggest to people setting up an business.

You just need to look at amazon/kindle profits to see if it will be worth doing, in my opinion if you are making more than $400 in amazon sales a year its worth setting up a business.

I get mine by cheque (infact got my first cheque today, 130$

, my first online money), but the bank in most countries will get some money for processing the cheque so it is a better option to set the threshold to 500$ or something like that.

  It all depends on your visitors. If they are happy to buy from Amazon China then no problem. I don't really know if people from Singapore etc generally do this.

$300.

"Threshold" refers to the figure below which your payment accrues to the next one. If your payment threshold is $100, and you earn $99, you don't get it until next time (assuming you earn another $1+ by next time). If you earn $100, you get $100. If you earn $1,000, you get $1,000.

You can use Payoneer's US payment service. I have used it to receive payments from Amazon and Clickbank. It's very useful for international affiliates and definitely less costly than opening up a US bank account yourself..

I am a US Amazon Affiliate.. my question is the opposite.

I have an affiliate account with UK, Germany, France, and Canada.

Unfortunately there is no option to choose US bank account. United States is not in the drop down menu to choose direct deposit.

Is it possible to get paid via direct deposit to a US bank account from an international amazon affiliate?

For non US resident warriors who are using Payoneer's US payment service to get paid from Amazon, please kindly confirm that you can get paid using it.

Hi,

I see now, that amazon us now makes bank wires to europe bank accounts, for non us citizens.
So there I can put my bank account information,BIC number and so on......etc,etc
in my amazon affiliate account and then I hope it will work when I make my first sales.

That's great, a big international company who is not capable to make bank wires to european bank accounts or bank accounts around the world,yes this is impossible,unreliable for an international company.

i had recently opened an amazon seller account and had a big headache in receiving the funds in Singapore. I had opened a us currency account which is ACH enabled. Although with all the necessary particulars filled in the account settings under bank info, the fund transfer was rejected.
Anyone out there that can help me on this?

But who cares, where is the different for an big international company to make bank wire to an seller or an affiliate-where is the difference?

And it is really unbelievable for an big internat.company, not be capable to make bank wire..........I be an little one man entrepreneur and I can make bank wire to all europe country and usa, theres no problem for my bank.

I know this is an old thread guys, but I'm a bit confused and need some advice.

I'm in the USA. But because my site gets international traffic, I signed up for a handful of Amazon Associate programs--including the UK, Germany, Spain, etc.

But I need clarification on payment, because admittedly I hadn't considered this.

So, based on the replies in this thread, since I'm in the USA I cannot receive payment via Direct Deposit, correct? If so, I can get paid by check (cheque).

If that's true, what happens when I get an Amazon Associates check/cheque in the mail, and it's in pounds and not dollars? I can still take it to my bank and it will convert into USA dollars? What if it's a check from other countries--does the same thing happen, too?

I know it's a noob question, but any help would be appreciated, because I've never had to receive and deposit an international check before.

How come no one bothered to mention the "up to" 2.75% fee that Payoneer charges for bank transfers to Euroland?

I just signed up for Payoneer, got my card after a couple of weeks and they only tell you about this fee when you set up bank transfers. No mention of it while you sign up. I'm quite disappointed.

As it looks checks may end up costing me less after all.

@sebtanic: When you withdraw from your Payoneer account to your local bank account in the EU, there is no flat fee. We convert funds from USD to EUR using rates of only 2% above the official mid-market rate at the time of transfer.

This is a very competitive conversion rate and generally among the best available on the market (especially when compared to other online payment solutions).

Technically I am an Amazon affiliate but I have not yet figured out a way to get paid so I have not acted on it. I live in Mexico currently and it has never been easy to cash US checks although it was possible until very recently. I was hesitant initially because the mail isn't always reliable. Now it has become even more difficult because new regulations imposed by the US make it impossible to cash a US check in Mexico ( I understand that this applies in other countries as well).

I am relatively new to the game so maybe there is something I am missing, but it seems incredible that an online behemoth like Amazon has such an antiquated payment system. My understanding is that direct deposit or transfers (expensive) are not available for Mexico...the site information on this topic is somewhat confused ( or maybe it is just me ). Also, I was interested in publishing Kindle products but have run into similar issues ( I believe the policies are somewhat different but both present problems for Mexico) It is so frustrating.

Is there anyone in Mexico who has figured out how to work profitably with Amazon and/or Kindle? I would be very curious to know how you did it ( other than travelling to the US and opening an account there) and very grateful for any information.

  @ngolay: If you do have the option in your Amazon account to withdraw to a US or EU bank, whether it be for the affiliate program or the seller program, I do recommend that you try out Payoneer. We have many account holders from Mexico, and provide localized payment solutions in the form of the Payoneer Prepaid Debit MasterCard card and local bank transfers in MXN.

I live in Euriope, but I get my amazon and kindle payments to my Bank of America account.

I made it when I was living in the US, but I think you can make one through Payoneer aswell.

It's pretty pointless to do it by cheque.

I also think, that they started sending electronical payments to european banks aswell.

Hi everyone,

Regarding AMAZON.com i want to settle an individual seller account but my country, Romania, is not on the list of accepted country.

I tried with Payoneer, but didn't work because the address on the AMAZON.COM must be in US and the address on the Payoneer card is in my country. So a difference in the 2 billing addresses prevent Amazon to accept my account as"The credit card information registered to your seller account is invalid."

I am stuck at this point and don't have any clue how to create my seller account with Amazon.com.

Can you help me with info about how actually i can create an account with Amazon.com from my country and have an accepted method of payment by them?

Payoneer is a good service, but crazy expensive in my opinion. They charge 1 % just to add the funds to my Payoneer account, then another 2 % to send it to my bank account, plus 2-2.75% in exchange rate fees (and I want to keep my money in US dollars in my local account, but Payoneer refuses to send the money in any other currency than the local), plus yearly card costs etc. This means that I'm paying a total of about 5.5 % just to get the money from my Amazon account to my bank account, which is horrible in my opinion.

Just to confirm: we charge 1% when receiving a payment to your US or EU Payment Service. When you withdraw, we convert funds using rates of 2% above the mid-market rate.

We do not charge any withdrawal fee, so in total you would be paying 3% and not 5.5%. There is no 2% fee for withdrawal.

If you live outside the US, Amazon doesn't charge a $15 cheque processing fee. Im not sure why you're getting charged a $15 fee.

The bank usually charges a processing fee for clearing the cheque.

My cheques only clears 3 weeks after deposit.

Wish Amazon would direct deposit overseas as well just like Clickbank does.

You can't receive affiliate earnings from Amazon to Payoneer. I have talked to Amazon and they gave an answer like this:

I'm sorry, Payoneer isn't part of Amazon.com. That is not their statement to make. Also, we haven't been able to transmit any of those payments that way.

it looks like we tried to send out those payments but it didn't go through correctly to your bank. This most likely is because although you have a US bank, you would also need US Payee address and a US tax ID number or Social Security number.
I do see that our system allowed you to put in the direct deposit information. However, we haven't been able to pay you.
You would need to change your payment method to either check or Amazon Gift Card.
