My 10 year old is teaching ME Camtasia tricks... LOL

My 10 year old daughter has been using Windows Movie Maker for about 6 months to make slideshows of her dogs, friends, etc. She was doing really well, so I installed Camtasia on her computer (we homeschool, so she loves to do videos on the computer after her classes). I didn't have time to teach her anything yet, so she is self taught.

She just came in here and told me a trick on Camtasia that she had figured out about splitting audio out of a video.... She is 10! I will hear her saying that she is "rendering" her video, splitting tracks, adding her transitions.... My husband has not a clue what she is talking about.

I am so proud that my kids are learning about IM, writing (she has done PLR packs for me, believe it or not LOL), business, etc. They will be so far ahead of kids that are just getting all that "book learning" because they get to be hands on.

If you have kids, encourage them to learn about business young! They really "get it" and you can raise them engrained with the idea that they can get a college education and start their own business!

Charity

Looks like your kid will have a good future in IM industry,
having her mom as couch, she will build the right mindset.

    Good luck with your Daughter.

That's awesome - the kids these days seem like naturals with technology.

Sounds like there is "Girl Power" over there at your house !

That is incredible. My 10 year old helps me sometimes but for the most part she thinks its boring computer stuff. She is concerned with winning Mario cart races on the wii. I am impressed with your kids knowledge of Camtasia.

Yeah the kids these days are right into it, onto it and up with it, I learnt all about making banners from a nine year old from a video. Very, very inspirational!

Congratulations for having a talented daughter. Who knows she will be a programmer in the future who could create a "kick butt" system that will become the next BIG thing on the Internet.

As a lifelong public school employee, I can tell you that although your daughter will miss some social interaction, the practical knowledge she will obtain in a home school setting will blow her contemporaries out of the water.

Sounds like you have done a great job of parenting up to this point and should be very proud...

Fantastic, she's doing really great. Sure wish I had some young 'uns around again. My youngest was very good learning the ins and outs of the computer he worked on, besides the games. He's self taught, too,. and quite good at all this stuff now.

I really envy these kids, they are like little sponges learning things. I've got way too many other things going on to become a tech whiz myself. Some day I'll get there, but I will have to get the youngest to help me.

That's great! Kids these days seem to pick up on stuff like this much quicker than we did back in the day. I guess it is because they have grown up along with the internet and the modern day computer. She should make a WF account and post here!

Wow, I wish I was 12 when I started making money. Millionaire at 15 would have been an awesome feeling but alas! I am 22 now....almost 8 years late!

    She'll be a millionaire soon

That's fantastic Charity and that you're giving her the opportunity to learn with this technology early on. Before you know it she'll be creating trailers in Adobe After Effects to go with her vids. My little sister just plays games mostly.

It's amazing seeing kids interacting with laptops, PC's and mobiles, they're getting super fast younger and younger. My brother and sister can type almost as fast as me and they're only 12 and 15. I'm still trying to get them to be careful what they click on though. Every time I visit my parents to babysit, my little sister has about 6 new toolbars installed, various screensavers, adware, registry cleaner trials and miscellaneous junk I have to get rid of!

That sounds great. Your daughter must be very smart, I think not every kid is capable of doing that

I agree, the sooner one starts the better one learns... There are 15-year-old kids literally crushing it online!

She should start Camtasia for dummies! My little nephew sparked interest in IM as well, maybe I will take him under my wing as well

Everything around today's kids is technological, it's natural for them to understand everything easily.

It was the same with me and the oldest PCs... but not exactly the same

Every next generation is better than the previous, a well known fact

    Cheers,
    Yoangov
