Question for Kindle Publishers

If you have Kindle books for sale what do you use to promote them? Do you use the link for the ebook or do you use an Amazon associate account?

If you use an associate account do you get the revenue from the account plus royalties from the book sales?

Just some of the things you can do on the cheap:

Set up a sales page and drive all your traffic from there to Amazon. Update this often with an embedded blog. Give out a preview here to create a list. Spend some time to get this site ranked well.

Work on getting credible reviews. Post some of these testimonials on your web site. Pass along free copies and solicit feedback.

    Seek out traditional media interviews.

Drop into blogs and forums related to your book's subject matter. Build the buzz by becoming an expert even if you can't promo in your sig. Caution, make yourself useful here and not a side show barker posting just to hawk your books.

Take action on the above every day!

Most of my clients use the books I've published for them as offline lead generation and to show they're experts in their field. They publish through me since they appear as my publishing house instead of Createspace or Lulu. They are not really interested in mass market sales.

There are several good WSOs and plenty of line resources for marketing your book. Some work - some don't - almost all depend on your niche.

there are also plenty of threads in the forum with suggestions - use the search function at the top of the forum.

    Good luck!

As a War Room member you have access to several free Kindle guides. Try doing a forum search or just scroll through the first few pages of the WR. Some really great stuff there.

I just use the link for the book itself not my Amazon Associates account. In my opinion, the 3 key factors of selling lots of books are:

    1. Your book must be awesome (content)
    2. You need to do lots of marketing
    3. You need to test and re-test prices

For example, one of our books is sitting at #1 in sales on Amazon in it's category. For the longest time, the book was in the top 20 but it wasn't until I raised the price that it shot up to #1. Now that it's been at #1 for awhile, it sells more and more every day because it builds it's own momentum.

Great content, marketing, and price testing = WIN.

      Thank you Paul,

That is what I was asking with my post. I have read through plenty of "Make Money With Kindle" products but I do not recall my specific question being addressed.

I have an Amazon associate's account and I know you can use it to promote Kindle books but I did not know if people who publish on Kindle use the associate account or just the link when they are promoting.

Sometimes I guess I over think things!

        Hi Nursewriter

I also over think things. I am concerned that I don't upset those nice people at Kindle. They pay me good money and I don't want my account frozen or something.

So I just send people to the listing - not through an affiliate link.
It is a bit like not clicking on your own adsense links on your sites. (I know the two organisations are nothing to do with each other).

A good idea is to have several books that are related and each book promotes the others.
