If the Warrior Forum Disappeared Today how would that affect your business?

I found myself wondering how many of the people on here who make a living from their internet business like I do have an actual business presence other than WSOs or the for hire sections on this forum.

It is a bad idea to depend on someone elses platform for your entire business. So I just want to get a feel for how many people have a real online presence from which they make their living other than here.

For me it would be a minimal impact as I only do a WSO once in a while. Most of my income is from my own sites and blog.

So lets hear from those that care to share.

Mostly niche blogs here...you've got a good weight transfer on your back swing there, perhaps a little short on the hip turn..

I have a good sized email list (mostly built from this forum)...

So I would just keep things going as normal - I would just be using more static pages... (as opposed to WSO sales pages)

On the plus side - I might become more productive without the forum to distract me :p

Having just ONE source for anything whether it's customers
or supplies is always a bad thing.

I generate business from everything from print books,
to speaking engagements, to networking with my
local chamber of commerce and GKIC group, to more
    websites than I can count.

So it wouldn't impact me that much although this IS
where I learned many of the things that I know and
it is the biggest community of it's type that I'm aware
of, so it is important to me.

As many people already know, I made a living online for nearly a decade, before I began to darken these threads.

I would just go back to doing those things that I did before, and I would waste much less time than I do now.

If anything left today it would not impact me. I stand on my own two feet. I do not rely on software totally and nor do I rely on websites.

The WF is a great tool to help you succeed and wish I would of seen that earlier. No one or no thing though can make you successful. You do that yourself. Hard work, determination and failures will all add up to a win.

This is a good thought concept for warriors to think about. Though it would have little effect on my overall Business income.... I would really be hurting for Additional Information... Up to date tricks and strategies... and outsourcing.

We use a ton of warriors for various projects and the WF as a source of information has proven Priceless for us... So just like Willie Crawford said, if this place disappeared.

      Income - Slight effect
      Information loss - Huge effect
      Outsourcing - Really Huge Effect

Thank Goodness the warrior forum isn't going anywhere.

I'd be more affected personally because of all the wonderful friends I've made
here. I would miss chatting with them and a piece of my personal life would be
        gone.

        Money wise, not so much.

        But money isn't everything.

I've learned that the hard way.

I've learned so much here, met great people... Even outsourced some of my wife's homework, lol

My money wouldn't be directly affected, but what would I do with all this free time? I already watched everything good on Netflix yesterday during the blackout.

I'm with Steve in that I'd be more personally affected, than in a business sense.

But, the value of these forums is evident if you glance over any of the replies in any one forum. People round these parts are intelligent, helpful, straight headed folk trying their best to help other people rise to their level.

I think if you answer 1 or 2 in the poll you need to rethink your business. If any site, warriorforum or otherwise, will have a huge effect on your business if it disappeared then you have zero security. I'd love to preach this message more but I've done it for years and paid the price (freelance websites).

I try to remember now: Never build your business on someone else's website!

I did answer the poll, but regardless of whether or not someone makes a dime from posting on this forum, the WF has huge value because of all of the free golden nuggets of information found here.

I've gotten so many great tips and suggestions here that it's hard to put a monetary value on that. I'm sure countless others have had the same experience. Plus, it's a great place for newbies to come and get some real guidance on IM that can't be found anywhere else.

The Warrior Forum is a valuable resource that cannot be replaced and would be sorely missed by thousands if it suddenly disappeared. But...that's never gonna happen, so this thread is purely theoretical.

I haven't made money on this forum yet but of course it would be a SILLY idea to only sell on here. That means if the forum was ever to be down then you would be out of income which would totally suck!

I had to vote no effect because I don't make money on this forum, but there would be 2 alternative effects. One that I would spend more time on my business if the WF wasn't here. The other that I would miss checking this forum out every day, the people on here and the tons of great information and advice.

Whether my business would be effected or not would totally depend on the reason the forum disappeared. If Allen just decided to close up shop, I wouldn't be thrilled, but my business would go on. I'd miss the education I get here. I'd miss the friends I've made, the banter, and the serious discussions.

If SOPA passed and the forum subsequently succumbed to some piece of garbage wrapped in skin who posted something not allowed, I would probably see repercussions to my own business, too. Anyone whose business involved interactive features or text would also be affected. Just as a good product or piece of text is viral - so is censorship.

I have my own sites, build my own lists and have multiple sources to get targeted traffic so if any one system (like google changes) or any site going down or changing would have very little impact.

I would advise all business owners to not be too dependent on any one or even 5 things.

    You need to diversify.

It would have zero impact on my business. I run about one WSO a year here, if that, to give back to this community. Most of my income comes from my businesses and investments.

Though if the forum were to disappear, I would be genuinely bummed for a little while because I do have quite a few friends here. I've got them all on Skype anyways. I'd find another way to give back to this community. I wouldn't be surprised if another forum just like it would pop up somewhere else. Warriors are incredibly resourceful folks.

Once I went full time as an IMer...I promised that I wouldn't put all of my eggs in one basket but have a focus in one area.

Would the closing of the WF hurt my business? Absolutely...this is the best community for advice, ideas, and for help with outsourcing on tasks so I can focus on selling.

However, I do have a strong base of clients that will stick by my side and a handful of websites that bring in some income as well.

If you think about it though, in business, you will always be "depending" on someone else's platform whether it is their own offline business, your hosting company for websites, or the Warrior Forum for services and WSO's.

Can't vote in the poll, because it would need a fourth option. I don't do any business here directly, I do draw a lot of value from the give and take here.

    My answer?

"It would have some effect, even though I don't directly do business here."
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[5449998].message }}
  • I find a lot of the information very informative here.

So it would be inaccurate to say it would have 'no effect' (although there doesn't seem to be an option for 'some effect, but information wise' in the list of options).

This forum is an additional platform which is good, but is not the only means of generating sales online.

I wont have any effect whatsoever on my business as such because I just joined today. :-p

But, I've been a lurker here at WF for 3 years or so and learned some good things from here, so in that way it would certainly impact me.

For me, it has some effect because I'm still making money with my WSO's right now. So if this forum is gone, I believe that I would lose all of my income here. But I am still making money from my niche sites that I built.

Because I don't make a dime here, I wouldn't be affected materially if this forum would be closed. One of my policy was always to diversify, and I recommend it to others, too.

However, I'd miss friends I knew her, and the knowledge they accumulated at WF in the curse of times .

I think the SOPA blackout yesterday got some people thinking about this.

No doubt those that base the majority of their business around selling here had a very bad day.

** As a side note I was strictly talking about income directly from here. Are people building a real business?
No question that the loss of the resource would be devastating.

I use to use WF for driving traffic but I've got my traffic coming in from such diverse sources... I would hardly miss it from a business point of view.

Although I would miss it a lot from a personal point of view as this is a totally cool place where I've met tons of people here... The info I've learned here ain't too bad either

I've been in internet marketing for about 12 years, and occasionally lurked a few forums for years... but always found that I wanted to keep my methods consistently different than what everyone else was doing.

That being said, WF is a great place to source great help and products, and I'd miss it.. but had previously gotten by without it just fine.

Although, I imagine for a total newbie, WF is actually a priceless tool to learn the game. I point all of my friends/colleagues who say "How do you know this stuff?" to this forum, in addition to a few other sites and information sources.
