What's the Easy Way to Do Slideshow Videos?

I'm making a course that's a hybrid between screen captures (video files) and bullet point slide shows.

I'm proficient in After Effects and Vegas Pro, but neither seem useable to create (that's create, not edit) slideshow-style videos. I'm using Vegas for the final composition of the project and the best idea I had was make the slides in openoffice presentation, record with Camtasia as I click through them, then import and edit the video file in Vegas.

There's not too much work with this method, but what I don't like about it is having to create a new video file each time a slideshow needs editing.

Does Vegas have a better option I'm not aware of? Do most IMers just Camtasia-up a slideshow? Other good ideas?

    I do use Camtasia for recording my screen and record PPT presentations this way to create video files.

    The good thing about Camtasia, if you need to edit anything in your presentation, you can just stop the current recording, do the editing and then start over. You can then do whatever you want in Camtasia, the both files will be added to the same "project" and you can do zooming, other editing (both of the video and the audio), cut, crop...

      I agree with Trevor, i use the same method.

      You might want to get premium themes but whatever you choose, Camtasia and PPT are what i use to create videos.

    For simple slide-shows, PowerPoint style, I use VideoPad, which is free . . . you can import still images, audio (such as voice-over) and type text in directly as "titles", choose cross-fades or other transitions, etc. Fairly easy, and free!

      Good Topic I just getting ready to use some slides and spice them up a bit and I had a PC crash that had all my previous WSOs and Im stuff on it killing me trying to replace everything. So Ill have to try the VideoPAd

    I suggest using camtasia in conjunction with PPT. Use after affects for the video intros and then edit the entire thing in Sony Vegas!
