hey everyone!

OK so i just launched my first product on Clickbank as a vendor ( not In the IM niche)

This is a fairly unique niche with some huge potential and there was only 2 similar products on clickbank..

Anyways i was approached by an affiliate that claims to own a few sites that is highly targeted for my product and he wants to promote it.. thats great but..

THE CATCH IS he wants to be paid daily via paypal!? his reason is that where his from, clickbank does not allow him to be affiliate (which i find hard to believe) . my product sells at $37

i told him about refunds and he said that i should just offer him a % where even after refunds i would still profit in the end of the day.. and he is asking for only 40% cut and that he could bring in a minimum of 5 sales a day at least.

he also went on telling me that only for the first 3 to 4 days i can pay him daily , once we build trust he would accept payment after 60 days

I find it hard to believe, but i would definitely love some targeted traffic from those sites.

but you know even if i pay him daily for say 3 days and turns out all the sales were false buyer and demanded a refund.. id still lose quite abit of money..
Its a bit risky, but grr im tempted.

Any advice here would be great

Thanks
- Brandon

I'd ask him if he'd be happy with receiving payments on a weekly basis.

Then if any sales he makes end up getting refunded, do a charge back for that amount if he refuses to send you the refunded amount.

Tell him that on Clickbank, if an affiliate sale you make gets refunded then you lose the commission that's why you deal through Clickbank so in order for you to pay through Paypal, say you will require this security.

It's all sounds a little tooooo good to be true.

ClickBank doesn't and PayPal does - how unusual?!

    Which country is he from?

Call me a skepchick, but I think you're right to be highly cautious, here ... to put it mildly!

He is from India, but now resides in Malaysia

I manage to speak to the guy on skype, and he seems to know alot about IM, and he spoke with alot of authority ( if he is a scammer wow his a good actor) and he has a huge list of emails he got from optins through his sites and promotion will be from email marketing and paid advertising.

I have agreed to make payments of $10/sale via paypal for the first 3 days,, even if its a fraud, i think its a small loss to me. I am willing to take this small risk.

he then mentioned that once we build enough trust he will proceed to receive payments after 60 days, which he will then ask for a higher cut.

I will report here in this thread soon!

Clickbank has no issues with India or Malaysia at all. Lot of members suggested you to see his sites, but you are kind of easily-to-be-deceived. Don't think you will be back with good news.

I don't think so, either: the post immediately above yours is over 8 months old, the OP's most recent post was in May and he's been banned for a long time.

Uhm....that has "potential problems" written all over it. Sorry. Clickbank doesn't pay daily either.

I'm thinking he would have to learn to operate within the Cb rules or find another product to promte from an affiliate program that accepts his locaton (if in fact that part of his story holds water).

    As another posted stated already...

This has potential problems written all over it and I personally would avoid it.

A few years ago, I used to sell a software product through Regnow. The product sold a few copies per month, but suddenly sold dozens of copies in a single day, all via the same affiliate. Of course, the sales were found to be fraudulent later, and the money deducted from my balance.

Imagine if something like that happens in your case. You would be liable for all the refunds yourself. I was lucky in my case because it all happened through Regnow, and their fraud detection technology caught the problem before any money exchanged hands.

I would stay away from this so called affiliate. That he wants to be paid daily screams scam to me.

I would look at his websites, and see if they are worth anything. I know you can't really measure traffic but if the websites look legit, then you might want to do business with him.

And yes, ask for his country and see if it's not a scam.

Maybe he's referring to the fact that checks are often stolen from mailboxes so that's why he can't rely on ClickBank. This happens quite a lot in 3rd World countries and even in Eastern Europe.

And if he doesn't use Clickbank, how could you tell if the purchases are made by people send by him?

People that are eager for payment straight away set alarm bells off for me, they might as well say "send me the money before you figure out its a scam!"

I think they would get a few people to buy then they would all refund after he is paid.

I might be wrong, it has happened before........once :p

He is keen for you to demonstrate trust, but is not prepared to trust you. Yes - sounds fishy to me too.

Upfront payment with the promise of riches is the foundation for a good scam.

I would not take his deal.

This sounds extremely sketchy. Do you know how this person will be promoting your product? Are they going to use marketing techniques that could cause your business losses, damage your reputation, or worse? How are you going to accomplish tracking?

Honestly, I wouldn't have even used Clickbank. It cost's money just to put your product in their listings, and then they take a % of your sales. DigiResults takes a lower %, and you can post items through a free account. Another processor that I heard of last night is JVZoo, which can be used on any site, including the WSO forum. Again, a free processor that takes a smaller % than Clickbank. Just my $0.02

    Avoid like the Plague!

All he would need to do is get 4/5 people to order your product.....wait for you to pay him....then get them to refund.....rinse and repeat and you are out of pocket!

Yes, definately avoid is what I would say otherwise you 'may' be kicking yourself afterwards. Of course, check out his sites. See if you can lookup the Whois and see if they match. Due diligence is everything in IM.

Sounds like a line of bull from a scammer to me. If all the sales turn out to be fraudulent, you've paid him and he disappears. I wouldn't do it. There are safeguards built in to using Clickbank as it was intended to use it. Go outside of those guidelines and you're the one who will pay.
