Someone copying my content from my blog

INTERNET MARKETING

hello guys i have just noticed someone is copying images from my blog and also content of my blog any idea how i can stop him ? also he is from china and his domain is registered go daddy and website hosted with hostgator any soolution to this problem ? as it is first time happening with me so no idea how to handle that

Send him a DCMA take down notification AND copy the email to his site hosts. This step is important, tag it as a straight copy, not a BCC; let him see you've also informed his hosting company.

contacted hosting company hopefully i will get it done tomorrow as i need to prepare some documents according to hosting company requirements

The guy is hosted on hostgator (high probability using wordpress). Don't go to google, unless the rest has failed. Google may ban your content from show up on result, but may not be able to remove it from the his website.

Start with the easy way, if it doesn't work look for something more complicated. Don't start the opposite way, it would just make your life more complicated.

In addition to the DCMA takedown, if he's hotlinking your images, you can add something like the following to your htaccess file to prevent that:

RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(.+.)?yoursite.com/ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$ RewriteRule .*.(jpe?g|JPG|gif|bmp|png|tiff)$ - [F,NC]
If you use WordPress, there are also plugins that can prevent hotlinking - I use WordPress › WP htaccess Control « WordPress Plugins

Finally, if you know the offender's IP address, you could block it from accessing your site via htaccess. You can also use this method to block the referrer.

Contact the website owner first and confront him. If he don't change his/her website, go to DMCA.

okay, I will say slow down. If this guy is in China, probably your DMCA wouldn't scare him (the only action DMCA can do is to get the website down through hosting).

So, find a DMCA form request removing the content and mention if he doesn't act with in a period of 48 - 72 hours, you will be forced to forward this DMCA to his hosting company to shut his website down (mention that to the website owner).

Now godaddy is a lost case, I got spammed with people hosted their sites there, they wouldn't bother to answer. If the domain only is registered and he is not violating your trademark name. Then, they will not bother even email you back.

If the guy didn't act on your DMCA, move on and forward the DMCA to hosgator (the hosing company). They probably will act on it and suspend his account (I am just guessing, the hosting company certainly know what they should do).

Don't move on to the hosting company or domain company first, he might just removed the content based on your DMCA --> Problem solved

Just try to use Google Help if necessary, but first try to contact the owner and warn him through email. Make sure that your content was protected by Copyscape or you can install something that can prevent these scumbags from copy pasting the content using their mouse.
