Does google penilize websites with unicode encrypted content

Hello, i'm fairly new to IM but have already seen some light of success, my question here is if google penalize websites with utf-8 encrypted content, you know, using the "stop word" method and all that. i have a porvider on a freelance website that gives me several "unique" articles, thay are not really unique to the human eye, but they do pass copyscape premiun, he told me that he uses a unicode encrypting method that identifies and encodes "stop words" (really common words)..... Do you thin k google finds out about this and penalize it

They don't penalize it... but they don't read it either. You won't be able to rank with this content as the words you are ranking for don't appear in your text the way google reads it. This content is really only good when you already have an established audience and you're looking to steal content from somewhere else and pawn it off as your own... if you're in to that kind of thing.

I use Steve Fullman's plugin wpunique that does that and it has a protected keyword filter so that it doesn't encode the keywords. Works great. Sites get indexed fine.

I've been using since it was launched with no problems. If I have the time, I still would rather rewrite my content to make it unique, but if not, I use the plugin.

In response to George's comment, the sites I use it on are demo sites. I sell very affordable PLR sites to people ... customers who should have that content rewritten to make their blogs unique.

When I'm building a blog for myself, I use unique content. Nothing else.

This unicode encryption method is old as hell, and in my opinion one of the stupidest things ever advertised.

First... your question is wrong since your question should instead be
"Hi, i have a site with duplicate content and i am using a plugin which allegedly makes it 'unique' (LOL), does Google penalize me for this?"

What i am saying...Google is not penalizing you for the plugin, but for your "glorious" idea to make a site based on rehashed content.

This plugin, respective the author claims and advertises as that it makes content "unique" - FACT is that it doesn't make content unique but merely fools copyscape since copyscape is obviously too stupid to be able to read javascript encoded content.

The fact that coypyscape errorneously thinks it is "unique" does not mean that Google reads in the same way.

Listen, making a site with rehashed content is something which was already "out" 2 years ago, and in particular right now after panda and other recent Google algorithm changes. Do you think you will ever rank for this content? Or what is the purpose of your site in the first place?

Furthermore...since we cannot assume that Google is as dumb as copyscape it's likely that your site will never ever rank anywhere in Google..and if you get "really" lucky, yes you will get penalized or de-indexed. This wp-"unique" plugin and the method to encrypt by Javascript is so old that i would not even REMOTELY risk making a site with this. It's simply fail in the making, IMO.

thanks georgr, i think you open my eyes to not be a lazy a s s and write my own stuff, but the fact is i did get one those "duplicate websites" to rank in no time for a fairly good position on the second page for a buying keyword ( note: not a very competitive keyword though) but seen i'm not looking to be a re-harsher i might rewrite that site...... the bottom line of my quest is to find an alternative way of generating unique content, would you recommend me hiring some one?

Yes, google is now slapping sites that are using the wpunique plugin. Search "google knows about wpunique" and you will see all the stories of people who recently have gotten deindexed. The only question that remains is if the google bot knows how to detect all encoded content or if it is just looking for sites using a specific plugin such as wpunique?

If it is not penalized, it probably should be, because some of those "not really unique" articles were really encrypted to hide the fact that they are used in violation of the author's copyright.

I am glad to hear that.

When you first said you used this, I was shocked to hear it, as I thought you would be above that.

I write all my own content, but have many sites and was using wpunique plugin to "uniquefy" my own posts, so that I could use them on a number of my sites without them being considered "duplicate" content.

Suddenly, all my sites that have previously ranked (some for years), have now disappeared from SERPs.

I can't think of any other change that I have made that would have caused this, other than using this plugin.

      Have others experienced this also?

Not sure if the OP is even still around, but for any other curious eyes stay away from these. I ran a test on 7 new blogs and every single one of them got deindexed within 12 hours of being crawled. And I knew exactly when they were crawled because I used linklicious.
