Autoresponder messages and subject lines

Hey guys what do ou say about this, as you may know, writing autoresponder messages and crafting the subject lines can be challenging, as a result I decided for a membership with a programme that comes with all that done for you, I mean messages with fantastic subject lines (and they are really good believe me), however to my dismay, one day I thought let me check my lists and see if the messages were being open, but alas, most are NOT! Heart wrenching is it not?

Was just wondering what your experiences are when it comes to email marketing, seems like you really have to have a gigantic list to make it worthwhile?

How often are you sending out messages? It seems to me that people are tuning out most of their emails when they are either getting too much or the headlines either come across as over the top or don't deliver in the content. Most internet users (ironically those outside of the IM space are probably the worst at this) are very cynical and weary of people trying to market to them. I know that's not what some of the top marketers teach, but that's been my experience.

Another possibility is that your list could be of freebie seekers. Did you build your list with a freebie or low-cost paid products?

I'd like to know what others' experiences are with this.

    Cheers,
    Adrienne

It can also depend on what you've sent them in the past. If you're sending low quality, irrelevant, or sales pitches only, they'll begin ignoring your messages.

    Hi,

It really depends what your subscribers think of you and what your relationship with them has been. How did they become your subscriber in the first place? Did you and do you continue to over deliver to your subscribers, making them excited to get emails from you, or is every email a thinly veiled attempt for a hard sell?

I agree with mgreener... Your past relationship is everything to your readers. Are the subject lines creating any curiosity in your readers? Or do the subjects give everything away.

I think it's a combination of all you have said guys, but like I said from experience, I think the messages are well written not hypie not pitchy and spread out airly evenly, all has been well researched and tested.

Freebie seekers maybe, but unfortunately the way it's done, you don't just get the freebie, you got to pay something before you get to it once you are in, and that's where some stop?

As for value, the messages provides loads of that without a doubt, however having said all that, let us not forget that that is human nature, I remember it took me almost a year before joining the same programme, and I was opening all the messages, all it took was that one I opened on that day, and that was it! And I think that's what it's meant to be anyway, the power of autoresponder - kinda like the power of viral marketing, ever noticed you sit with some product only to go back to it some day and find yourself visiting a site and making a purchase? That's when this business becomes sweet :-)

I probably need to do a bit more on the relationship strengthening, perhaps sending surveys and really connecting with my subscribers.

Thanks for the feedback, it helps to keep oneself in the check!
