Hi,

I'm currently using Mailchimp but keep hearing Aweber might be the best or maybe even another service..

Can you guys that have email autoresponders please help clear a little bit of the smoke and let us know what your honest opinion is on the best one and why?

Thanks!

It all depends on what you are looking for (I know, the usual evasive answer, but it's no less true).

Some ARs don't allow internet marketing or don't intergrate easily with some services or infrastructures. For instance, I had a problem getting Aweber to work with membership software and as I am not happy with coding, I dropped that software (s2Member) for another solution.

Imnicamail is supposed to be good, it's definitely inexpensive but if you are not happy with having to do a fair amount of coding for various online services or WP plugins etc, it's not a good solution (IMHO).

Getresponse is very popular, a bit cheaper than Aweber but that's all I know about it.

I use Aweber, although they are not the cheapest, because I started with them. They are easy to use, reliable, have reasonable customer service (not helpful with s2Member, reasonably helpful with Paydotcom.com integration) although I wouldn't jump for joy about it. They offer a pretty good selection of templates, and, as they are the market leader, you'll find help pretty much anywhere.

    I hope this helps.

I had no problems setting up Aweber with S2Member and didn't need to do any coding

      Thanks

I couldn't get the email parser to work. s2Member recommended to use either Mailchimp,or use teh Paypal parser, and the latter didn't do it. How did you get it to work? I am seriously curious (if I had got it to work, I'd have used s2member, for sure. The s2member forum wasn't particularly helpful in this respect.)

A thread asking this question seems to come up almost once a day, now.

This thread, and this thread, and this thread all seem to suggest that Mailchimp should generally be avoided.

Also, if you do any affiliate marketing (or any of the many other things they don't like), even if you don't do it/them at Mailchimp, you can still lose your account and your list(s) there, as explained here.

I'd actually strongly suggest avoiding a "free" autoresponder altogether, for all the reasons explained here.

My vote would be for Aweber.
It's the easiest to use (as far as I'm concerned) and the emails it sends/process it puts subscribers through is also most recognised.

I haven't got a bad word to say about Aweber.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

What kind of business will this be for? What specific functionality are you looking for? And what's your budget?

There is no such thing as a "best" autoresponder service or script because there are way too many variables to consider. You also cannot trust any of the delivery rates that any company publishes because delivery rates are in a constant state of flux.

While I use Aweber and have been for a decade, you'll never hear me say or write that it's the "best" because autoresponders are not a one-size-fits-all thing. I've also been testing Imnica mail for nearly a year and have been pleased with them as well.

I've also used 1ShoppingCart (total ecommerce solution that also has autoresponders), Getresponse, and EmailAces in the past and for the most part have been satisfied with all of them; each of them, including Aweber, have all had issues at one point or another (they all do).

No matter how many replies you get in this thread, you're better off researching different companies on your on and taking one or two of them for a test trial. This way you can test their interface to see if you like it, test their customer support, and test their delivery rates on your own.

  • I vote aweber aswell.

They have the best interface and stats and I have found their deliverability rate is one of the best if not the best.

In saying that getresponse is also a fine autoresponder and have comparable stats.

I don't think you can go wrong with either of these two choices.

I would say Aweber because I use it and I am more than satisfied with it. I had used Get Response when I was starting out but really didn't understand how to use it because I was a newbie.

The thing about Aweber is not only that its easy to use and has multiple features, but because its so popular and kinda the preferred option for marketers you will find more tutorials and resources available for it just because a lot of people use it.

So besides being a great service you will find it integrates with more third party services such as Wordpress, Paypal and many other products used in internet marketing.

I'm another Aweber fan. The forms are beautiful and easy to put together. You can use whatever submit graphics you want, and change the HTML to customize everything.

I also like the fact that I can create a script for my form. This prevents anyone from reading my page source and finding my landing page url without actually opting in...

      Hi Gengis,

If you can afford it - I'd go with Aweber and stay away from the
      free versions if possible.

An auto-responder is one of the most important pieces of software
you'll ever use online - Awebers what I use and is favoured by many
      online marketers.

You may want to consider GetResponse instead of Aweber. I'm strongly considering changing myself due to many reports in the last few months.

Check out this video of a huge turnaround in open rates when switching for Aweber to GetResponse:

      Also, it's cheaper than Aweber.

I've seen many top marketers saying they like GetResponse rather than Aweber, these days.

I started with mail chip and switched over to aweber. I think it's a much better service and I trust them more with my list.

Personally i say Aweber but thats only becuase I use it, i find it rather easy to use, plus it has step by step guides for anoyone new using the AR.. so its pretty simple to set up your emails. Icontact is good aswell... but i guess it all depends what the purpose is for your business. but Thumbs up to Aweber

I've only used Aweber because it was so highly recommended by other people. So I can't compare it to any others, but I like it. It's easy to learn, easy to use, and it gets the job done.

    Hi Gengis, Aweber of course...
    Their services are awesome!

  • As you may know by now, Mailchimp does not allow affiliate marketing. I got caught by this trying to go the free route once.

I use Aweber and it works pretty well. Go for them.

I am giving another vote for aweber. I have heard that MailChimp is not a fan of IMers. Aweber's support has been out of sight for me. I have emailed them, called them, and done instant chat. Every time, my experience has been terrific.
On another note, I have noticed some other marketers moving to Constant Contact. I am not sure why. If others know, I'd be interested in finding out.
