The Two Page Scroll...

Hey,

So I've been looking at a lot of the marketing
e-mails I get lately, and I've noticed the unsubscribe
link bumping as gotten ever so popular as of-late,
at least for some of the people I am subscribed to.

As I remember it, Aweber has in the past said to me,
that they do not like unsub link bumping, and actually
close accounts for it...

So the question in my mind is, why in the world would
you add two pages of blank text below your e-mail
before the unsub link...

Do you think the people won't find it? Do you think it
makes your e-mail nicer?

In my opinion it does neither of those things, and it makes
me feel like I'm a worthless subscriber to you...

Just my thought...

Hmm. I don't think I've ever seen this. Sounds like a silly trick. If someone wants to unsubscribe they'll find the link.

I'd be quick to unsubscribe from those "marketers", myself ... we certainly have nothing to learn from them.

I actually haven't even heard of this. Seems like a trick that is easily spotted and highly annoying. I'd think it does more harm than good for the mailer.

It seems like an act of desperation to me.

I've noticed this and you're right, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth even if previously you enjoyed receiving mails from that person.

It goes against the spirit of the whole double opt-in/easy unsubscribe process and it would certainly push me to ditch that list. I don't follow anyone who I consider a jerk, no matter how wonderful their information is.

    Isn't email marketing dead?

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

They don't want subscribers to unsubscribe, so they put the unsubscribe all the way to the bottom of the email... hoping they'll "X-out" of the email before they find the unsubscribe link.

Might as well put your unsub link in the header and footer because ... if they are wanting to unsub .. they are not buying anyway.

Never understood why someone would want an unproductive list member to pay for each month. Well unless they are wanting to do ad swaps and think they can find someone willing to match numbers without knowing the true efficiency of the list.

      Right on spot!
But to see the things you see them, one has to actually immerse in a very rare, often bad mouthed, scarring, dangerous, time consuming, process of thinking.
