Press Release Services?

There are a ton of them in the WSO section... but just wanted to ask if there is a shining star among them that you might be aware of? Any and all opinions accepted, thanks.

I think a better question is, even if the service shines like a super nova, is it worth it? Of course, it depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you're looking for a professional press release writer, a real press release writer and not an article writer posing as one, you're going to be paying at in the neighborhood of $100 or more per release.

I know there will be people saying you can get them for less and that may be so. But to really be considered for publication in a legit venue you're going to need a real press release written in the proper journalistic style.

And in my experience you'll spend good money for a good release and still get small results. Every once in a while you'll hear of someone's release getting picked up by Yahoo or another heavyweight. But those are few and far between.

I know I didn't answer your question but I've done extensive research on this and the findings aren't real encouraging. If your business is something that might appeal to newspapers, radio and TV you'd actually be better off sending releases and media kits to them via snail mail, even if it's an online business.

      Hogwash.

I have an economic site and we use press releases all the time. About 9 times out of 10 we get picked up in google, yahoo and even the wall street journal.

I see many people writing press releases and even have used one guy in here in WF to write one. When he sent it back I felt sick. It was written by a 3 year old.

The trick with Press releases is to know your niche, and to write as a journalist would. Make somethhing news worthy. Do not write another article. There is too many verbarim ones and spun BS out there already.

I know write all my press releases and they are an insane way to get go traffic and you can SEO your releases also for better placement in the engines.

We have even been able to get free press releases in local trade journals and newspapers by just asking. Heck, they need to fill up space in their newspapers all the time, and looking for good pieces, so if you can make it look like a news peice, and this is the trick you will get tremendous results.

There is an art to pressreleases, and one of my good friends (an ex journo) here in OZ helps me when I write them. That is priceless too.

But again press releases are an artform. Lots of people do not even know where to start....That is why many people do not see good results from them.

Hogwash? It looks like you're more in agreement with what I've posted than otherwise. Maybe I wasn't clear enough. Spammy article-style, keyword riddled, crap PRs that go out through the various spammy press release services are useless.

Perhaps that's because MMO products, the stuff most people here want releases for, aren't going to get picked up at all by any legit service. And in my experience, many well done releases going through legit channels also fall to the wayside. I'm happy that you've done well with your efforts.

I was referring to your spending money to get a good press release written, I would actually choose someone like my friend who has a journo background. I see pressreleases all over that look like a 3 year old wrote them, and I bet they are wondering why they are not getting the right results.

If you have to pay $200 for a press release, from someone who can prove themself. Do it. and DO it again and again. The money you will get back will far outweight this small outlay. I would do it, but I love writing these myself, and press releases done properly can get insane results. I mean really INSANE results traffic wise. While not the most targeted, it will get you some good results.

you need to find an expert first. I used an old friend who use to write for Wall Street Journal, he knows what they want and are looking for. Now that was my edge, but you need help from someone reputable. .

the worst thing I see, is people spending lets say $100 for someone to write their press release then let say they go to PRWEB and blast it on the 300 dollar plan. NO RESULTS!

Do not blame PRWEB, they are insane and bring insane results. Blame your press release. Yo need to sit down and plan it, write out a rough draft and make sure you are making it attractive, and news worthy.

It is simple yet, hard at the same time. The perfect crafted press release can blow up your bandwith in now time. You just need an angle and look at the other succesful press releases in there in your niche. Study how they were written and why they were so succesful. This will give you a huge edge and does not take very long to make sure you do not waist money.

Despite what you MAY hear, you can actually get good ROI for your paid press releses. We get best results from Webwire and PRWeb...again these are solid gold if you know how to use them!!!

There are plenty of free press release submission services available.

    Just search Google.

Granted, some of them trick you into being "free" but you either need to pay or you get ads but there are some gems among them.

Unfortunately I forgot which one I used but you shouldn't need to pay for a service if you do some research.

Don't go for a free service, they'll just host ads for your competition next to your published release. It's next to useless!

We offer a premium service. Link in my profile - or check out the new WSO in my sig.
