Hubpages alternatives?

Anyone know of a good hubpages alternative? Looking for sites that work similar to squidoo and hubages.

I liked hubpages but need to actually be able to add small product reviews mixed in with pure content articles. They think it's to commercial for them.

  • Have you checked out Quizilla?
  • Another good one is Weebly - Create a free website and a free blog. I like that one a lot. You can also visit Go2Web20.net - The complete Web 2.0 sites directory and look through the sites to see if you find one similar to Squidoo or Hubpages there. That list should help.

  • Synthasite and Blinkweb are two possible alternatives. Google doesn't like them as well though

Why not use Squidoo more? They aren't picky like HubPages.

    • I do use Squidoo a lot and love them. I am just looking for other sites that are similar to add to each network.

    • The problem with Weebly is there are no meta tags - not so good for SEOing the weebly page as search engines get no short summary of your site and have to figure it out from the content.

Tripod is a decent alternative. Do your own thing there.

Personally I still use Blogger blogs as well and can get them ranked pretty well. The links are nofollow of course but I am more after getting the pages raked and harvesting traffic from them - plus a PR0 link is still a link.

  • Yeah Squidoo is a lot more lax when it comes to promotion of affiliate links and products.
  • You could also try free Wordpress and Blogger blogs. I've heard that people use Ziddu but I have yet to try them

Be nice if you took all our suggestions and added them in list form in your original post hehe

    indiyarocks
    buksia com
  • As a direct result of the panda algorithm update, I do think that many Web 2.0 properties are becoming alot more strict with their standards and guidelines. There's absolutely no way you can accomplish your goal while conforming to their standards requirements and expectations?
  • I've used Xomba some. Not great results yet but it's still a work in progress. I've heard good things about WetPaint. I signed up at DevHub a couple days ago and like the set up but I don't know a lot about it in terms of seo. Factoidz might be an option?

  • I used to love HubPages, but now they are totally anti-IM. I had 62 Hubs that were live and unique, and HubPages took down 54 of them after the Google update wrecked them. I ended up losing about $400 per month between Adsense & Clickbank. Now, they don't even allow you to link to squeeze pages, let alone Clickbank. And, I had a Hub turned down because it linked to my blog which in turn linked to Clickbank. Talk about ridiculous... Anyhow, it was a blessing in disguise, because I learned that it's better to publish my original content to my own website and do SEO than submit to any directories.

However, I would still recommend World Village. Their regs are lax, and they get quite a bit of traffic.
  • Well there are several more.... you can go through them....

    Tumblr
    Livejournal
    Webs
    Blogger
    Wordpress(also a web 2.0)
    Zimbio
    Atom
    Wetpaint
    Wikispaces
    Blog.com
    Myspace(also used as a web 2.0)
    and more...

I generally use all these with Hubpages and Squidoo..........
