how to make a lifehacker type site

I cant exactly gather my terminology... I want to put together a niche blog, not for money-making but just to gather great content from my daily google alerts I enjoy reading. I like how lifehacker and such bring in content externally but i would not call this blog automation. anyone know a way to point me in the right direction? I write the summaries and forward to the other blogs.... but i'd also like the option of writing my own entries as well.

Not sure what you are asking. You can just buy one suitable domain name, install WordPress and keep blogging. If you want to do tech blogging, let me know. I am not finding time to update my webtechdaily.com blog, perhaps you can take it over.

lifehacker is an aggregate site of the webs best postings... kinda like autoblogging. i want to make my own blog, but also have the option to bring in external content.

I don't think lifehacker gets updated automatically. They seem to have multiple authors who write posts the conventional way and they are shown on the homepage.

If you really want autoblogging solutions, there are several. Google for 'feedwordpress', 'WP-o-Matic', 'auto blog WordPress' etc.
