Ok so here is my lil Idea, check me please...

So I was planning on starting up a PLR membership site soon. Now before you break out with the recycled and rehashed and sell speech let me assure you I can't stand that type of crap and I already have a couple writers lined up to start pumping out articles for me.

I plan to open the site and limit it to say a thousand members maximum, at somewhere around $10/month. Although I plan on launching a WSO with a special first month price or trial.

I feel like limiting membership numbers is a good way to encourage exclusivity and respect for making good use of original content. And then as there are cancellations I will open up spots for new members.

I plan on having something new release each month along with a suggestion section on the site for submitting PLR ideas the members would like to see.

What I love about this business model is as long as you are ethical there is room for everyone in the business of providing fresh content.

So let me know what you think along with any insight. Also how much would you pay a month for a site like this? I know it depends on the amount of content, quality, etc but if I could get a range that would be cool.

And by the way of course if a member cancels he loses access completely. Let me know if there's an issue with that.

Also has anyone tried IGroops.com yet for creating their membership site? Looking for reviews. They seem like a great service and everything you need is right there to use, plus they are hosting it so it saves you the trouble of site maintenance or script installs and issues, security and all that.

Be sure and take the poll at the top too!

Thanks Warriors!!

I am I reading correctly that you are only going to offer one new product a month? If that is the case $10 a month seems a bit high.

No no it will be a collection of several articles each month. Id say 20 to 30 at least.

Well, the membership site I've been working on will be 4 articles a week for $10 a month so I don't think the price is too bad. I will probably limit it to a much smaller number though... probably 100 people.

Sites like this work best if you pick a specific niche.

Also, if someone cancels it makes perfect sense to block their access to the content. That is generally how memberships work. Just make sure it is clear when they sign up.

Jen Brister just put out a pretty good WSO that goes over PLR membership sites including recommendations for a good membership plugin and such. It really helped me finalize my plans.

      Sounds like a good idea.

As for the membership fee, I would not charge them more than $15/month.

Thanks for the insight, i love hearing from others on the same road and how they did it.
Here is my issue with being a one niche site though, if i were to do that and set the fee at 10 bux a mnth and limit it to 100 ppl i would need to have 5 or 6 of these things online toget anywhere near where i wana be financially not to mention having to worry about getting content for several sites and answering any questions from members, i would spread myself and my writers too thin. Im a big fan of sticking to one venture and being laser focused on that one venture with a full quality effort until im capable of taking on aother site. Plus i think that the fact the members maybe only into one niche at the time, they thought of knowing that anytime they want to get content on something else thats in demand or rare they can which gives a higher perceived value for what they pay. In fact it aint perceived i think its a fact.

Also, consider the economy as, what one spends during a down economy is not what one spends when times are better. Volume sales seem to work best in either economy.

I would say not a bad idea if you have a plan on marketing it too, because, lets be realistic here, you won't be the first one to offer something like that so there is (serious) competition...

Also, did you think about niches? 20-30 articles per month is small number to cover all the niches, so if I join your site, what will be in there for me? Would I need to wait for several months for you to "hit" me with the right niche or what?

Got my point? At least you should be clear about that on your sales page...

I agree with you on that. I think I may cover the evergreens to start and even cover topics in those niches that nobody is covering. Im sure i could find some in the health and fitness niches. I want to also cover some niches that are harder to find at launch to increase the likelihood of having something of interest to everyone.

As far as not being the first to do something like this i agree but hey how often is anyone bringing something groundbreaking to the table compared to the number of people simply getting into a market with plenty of room and plenty of demand. There is SO much stuff out here that people pay for that they can get for free if they look hard enough but yet billions are still made online every month off of people buying stuff from a sites that are one of hundreds that offer the same crap yet they all still make a killing each month. Jus my lil 2 cents

Make sure you can take all the technical measures
for securing the content and making it available only
    to subscribers.
Will everyone have his own username and password
    or
There will be one password for subscribers
(so you will need to change it every month to prevent
those who unsubscribed from accessing the site)
    or
    something completely different

Also in terms of webhosting, make sure you will
be able to backup all the files on the go, so that
you will have all articles on hand in case of emergency.

Oh yea definitely. I think i may host the site on igroops because i like their interface for the admin and user plus they have everything im going to need plus more security than i could ever have using a lil wordpress site which gives me a few less things to worry about and i can focus on getting the members good content and responding to any feedback.

As far as backups i plan on backing everything my writers give me and anything else on another secure external hard drive in house AND having a nice size online backup as well.

As far as marketing goes aside from a WSO I plan on using most of my budget on marketing. Media buys, ppc, etc. I need to open another adwords account tho (my early aff marketing efforts got me banned of course lol) since now that ill be a business owner and marketing my own product i should have no problems with them cuz they love that.

The business idea sounds feasible, although you might want to make it a little more exclusive initially to make more people interested. The success of this good idea boils down to how well you end up marketing it.

If you can get around 500 paying members initially, you could slowly expand to 1000 members. Just remember not to let success overpopulate your site as others tend to follow this path.
