Question on pdf link please

I have been given a rebrandable e-book with permission to give to my list as a freebie. I have unzipped the rebrand kit and rebranded the book with my affiliate link imbedded and all seems fine.

My question is, how do I change the pdf address to a clickable url that I can include in an email to my list.

thank you,

Mal.

Just FTP the rebranded report to your server, then the link would be www.yoursite.com/rebrandedreport.pdf

If you wanted to avoid FTP, you could simply attach the pdf to your email, could you not?

Yes, you can upload it to a file sharing site such as rapidshare or similar and send a link to the file to your list. You may also want to password-protect it, so that no-one else except for the people on your list can buy it.

But FTPing is a better solution. Simply upload it to your server via an FTP client (I use Filezilla) and send the direct link to the PDF file to your list.

One more thing - it's advisable to use a redirect instead of sending them the direct link. If you have a hosting with cPanel, you can create a redirect using the "Redirects" tab and send the new link to the list instead of the original direct link to the PDF file.

Why do that? Because if you upload the PDF file to a directory where you store other files (such as other PDF documents), your subscribers could get access to all of them, had they had the direct link. So using a re-direct is recommended.

I'm glad to have been of help

EDIT: @ zamzung... You have a point, sure if you have affiliate links in your PDF, then it's good to make it publicly accessible, my point was that you would only do that to avoid people not subscribing to your list and getting it elsewhere for "free" (without opting in in the first place).

            Hi

You could use the introduction of your ebook to talk about your website and list. Tell readers how they can join in on the action if they aren't already a member. Include a link in the ebook to a squeeze page so they can sign up and then give them an upsell.

You can just send them to your regular squeeze page and it won't matter that they already have the book because that is why they are there.

Or you could create a separate squeeze page url for the ebook and see how many sign ups are coming from the book. Either with or without another free gift.

You have already built some trust because they have your ebook in hand and want to see what more you offer.

At different points in the book you can mention additionel ideas you can't cover in detail or aren't directly relevant to what you are covering in the book and then add "I cover this in much more detail here", and add a link to an article on your blog or another product.

Often when I get a free ebook like this from an Opt-In, it says right at the beginning: "You are allowed to give this book away free"

@Trevor... you can avoid people reading your other PDFa by simply putting an index.html file in that directory that will either show them some message or redirect them to homepage... again, it's not 100% sure way but most of the people don't know how to bypass that...

Also, if you are sharing some PDF document with your affiliate links inside, and already giving it away for free, why would you want to limit anyone to access that document?

More to that... so if you are already giving it away for free, why wouldn't you want to upload it to document sharing sites and get extra visitors to your documents? Unless you have something against new traffic and visitors...
