How to report a spammer?

I thought i saw the thread somewhere before, tried finding for it but couldnt.

ANyone knows how to report spammers in gmail.

Dont you hate it when you get unknown marketing mails from people, and when you click to open its like a normal mail, meaning its not from an auto responder where it has a link to say unsub or report spam.

So how do you report this guys, i bet all this people are from warrior forum. Because here and there i post my email add, and i receive mails everyday about backlinks offer, SEO offer, PR links offer etc.

So i advice you not to put your info out here. Lesson learnt.

Updated:

But i read somewhere that someone got sued for spamming online, exactly this case.
Its like when you read you just read like reading news, but when u really need it, u dont know where to start.
I remember the news article stating that someone reported the spammer and was sued under the canspam act US. He had to pay half a million in fines.

So i dont care if they create another account, just report, and report. Its worth to slap their @$$ with a half a million dollar fine waiting for them at their mailbox. =P

You don't report them. It would do nothing, they would just come up with another account. They have your e-mail in some spam lists, I get those type of messages as well. Nothing you can do I believe besides marking it as spam.

Yes, I personally will get upset when I got unexpected emails , especially if I got tons of emails everyday ... BUT .... maybe if you are willing to open that email, you'll maybe get surprising offer or something like that ... sometimes we need things like that ...

Often times, what you may see as the IP address, etc. in logs is not real. It is not likely that your ISP will do much as it becomes costly to them unless there is a compelling reason for them to invest their resources. Mark it as spam in your Inbox and hope that your ISP acknowledges it as such in the long run.

What I will caution you is, before opening an E-mail message, hover over the link to see if EACH link matches the description (e.g. website domain, etc.) as many legitimate companies are becoming spoofed by others who are not so nice.

I dont think we can report them... you just move it the spam folder and any further such kind of spams will not reach your inbox.. atleast you can mark the incoming email id as spam..

Not a lot you can do really. One of my email accounts I've had for years with virgin media gets around 800 to 900 spam emails monthly. Google run their email and do a really good job of weeding out all the rap and throwing it in the spam folder which gets emptied every 30 days.

Why not just click the ICON at the top of the gmail that says "report spam" when you hold your cursor over it ?????

That icon is just to the left the "trash can" icon....which is "delete".

eh, but then again, its just as good as filtering it as spam, its not really reporting.

        lol.

You are thinking of "reporting him" as something that will result in massive action against him. It won't. Not worth wasting your time. Google search comes up with this....

HowTo report to Google a Gmail user for sending spam | MDLog:/sysadmin

The point of clicking the gmail spam button is this: If enough people say a certain email address is spam by clicking the icon....gmail will begin to filter emails from that email address and route them to the spam folder.

only thing you can do is go after the affiliate account. I have tried that with clickbank alread and that was a waste of time.

without going into details, only thing I can suggest is doing things with the link that would get you banned in a decent network. (think blue fart)
