Hotel affiliate not working

I have sent hundreds and hundreds of visitors to booking.com from my country specific travel website, yet not a single conversion.

How in the world is this possible?

Visitors are sent to a country specific landing page, or sometimes direct links to recommended hotels.

Where is the traffic coming from? Are they people actively looking to book a trip, hotel, etc.?

How are the prices of the site compared to other sites? Pretty much anyone online booking travel is going to look at more than one site comparing prices so if they can get the same ticket/room, etc. from another site for a lower price that could explain the lack of conversion as well.

The traffic is all Google traffic. It comes from persons searching information about events, tourist attractions, etc in Malta.

In my experience, booking.com has a good presentation of hotels as well as pretty much the same prices as everybody else.

I think it's nicer than hotel.com, but hotel.com is maybe more of an authority site in people's views?

It's all about the quality of the traffic. If it's SEO, PPC or email traffic that generally converts well. If it's domain redirect or banner traffic, that takes a bit more tweaking to make work.

Straight off of Google. And then using the booking.com search box on my site. Or text links.

A lot of travel searchers will search many spots before they actually book. I am not sure of the time frame booking.com tracks cookies for a qualified sale, but manu travel affiliate sites are short term (like 24 hours). So if the customer doesn't book that day, you lose the commission.

You can either find an affiliate that tracks longer time frames or maybe find an affiliate with a higher closing ratio.

I tend to use mainly adsense on my travel sites as I have found most travel searchers click and search a lot before buying, so I want to get paid when they click.

If you can find a good match though, travel affiliate sales can be rather nice, especially package deals. Hotels by themselves tend to pay just a little anyways, depending on the cost of rooms to your travel destination.

There's no cookie. They use an affiliate id in the URL instead:

      booking.com/hotel-in-london.php?aid=30000

This way, if someone bookmarks the hotel, they bookmark your affiliate id..

i thought it would work good, bus seeing as 0 of 1000 convert....

    I would try hotelscombined.com
you get commission for the leads instead of the bookings.
in your case, you'll get payed for visitors who are just browsing.
I havent tried them myself yet but i am going to on my next site.
