Getting Potential Web Design Clients Through SMM

Hey i haven't been using social media sites for while now but one thing i am learning is how to get new clients in my own area through social media sites Facebook and Twitter.

I hear a good way is to log onto facebook and do a search for someone who is a guru in their niche market and check the people who "Liked" that person or brand, then send these people a message regarding your web design/what your profession is. But as a web designer how are you supposed to find your target market?

Also i don't really know what to send potential clients as i'm sure they already get alot of spam and emails from businesses all the time. I want to be able to increase my facebook likes and Twitter followers but i am not sure where to begin?

Can you please explain in details what i can do to to get more clients in my area using facebook and twitter?

Thanks

    • FACEBOOK FAN PAGE. Facebook will allow you to set up a “Fan Page” for your business, which is an excellent way to drive traffic to your site. Start by inviting all your friends to join your business fan page. Once they are in, start posting related content on the fan page. When your friends log in to Facebook, your postings will come up in their timeline of posts, and they will (hopefully) make comments about your post. Then their friends will see the comments, and check out your fan page to see what all the talk is about. A great way to get free advertising for your company!
TWITTER. People love to forward this around to their friends and contacts, so many other find out about followers share my posts. It’s free and easy to build a large base of loyal followers that will go to the places you want them to go!

Thanks for the quick replay Bongski and great tip. I already have a fan page set up a while now I have already invited all of my friends and have totalled over 100 likes so far (see "Freelance Web Design Services" link in my signature). But what i want to do is find businesses within my local area who are also on facebook or business in the UK,US or ireland. At the moment i'm only interested in smaller businesses so would be great to get a few extra clients through twitter and facebook. What is a great way to contact small businesses so that i can offer them my services. I want to be a solid long term business relationship with my clients so need as much help on this topic as possible.

      Thanks

You can contact people through Facebook but don't be too aggressive because if people complain about you to Facebook they can ban your account for spam. Just remember, people are on social media sites to socialize, not to be sold to. So socialize first, and then do business second.

Self-promotion is ugly to most people. Even Mark Cuban got raked over the coals and called "greedy" for promoting his Team Stores Black Friday Specials and his new $3 Kindle Book on Amazon.

I thought that was pretty funny and went straight to Amazon and download his Book which I need to finish reading. The answer is in the ShARE and the LIKE buttons - never in the color of your "Buy Buttons!!"

You just have to WAIT until enough people find you and share what they like. It takes TIME to build a timeline - the question is what will you be doing while you wait? Impatiently sending notices out can mess up something big later - and you won't even know it until your business fails or starts growing - both take time.

You have to wait to find out either way so you might as well have as much FUN as you can. Time FLIES when you're having fun. Proven fact: people who have the most fun have the most money BECAUSE they were having so much fun [for years] they were too busy [being happy] to notice how much work was getting done - over time - and THEN money is the RESULT that follows.

I've got plenty more if you want to hear it - most people don't because it's too simple. Fun? Yes, FUN. What is Facebook, if not FUN for 800 Million Users?

I retired in 2005 at 43 and now I give away websites like these for FREE [hosting excluded]

When you make at least $100+ per month, we split the profit 80/20 and YOU get the 80% Until then, you keep 100% and I'll help you drive traffic, get backlinks and put the domain in your name too!

First search in Google for offline local businesses that need what you offer. Then go to their websites and see if they have a Facebook link. Go to their Facebook pages and send an internal private message through Facebook. (There is no magic message that I can give you that will work on everyone. You just have to go through trial and error. The best thing that you can do is to be genuine.)

Now this is where it gets tricky. Your message must not make them feel like you are trying to sell them your service but that you are there to help them because you don't see them ranking. You first offer your services for free and don't mention anything about receiving payment.

If they say yes, get them ranked for one and only one keyword. Notify them once you've done it and then offer your services to rank them for the larger buyer keywords. They will either take it or leave it.

There you go! I hope this helps...

Very good point. With Facebook, you can set up a Fanpage for your business and then just go out and socialize with people in your local area.

If they like you, then they will want to find out more about your business and what you can do for them.

When I want to promote something via Facebook, I create a new fanpage, get around 20k likes minimum before promoting, and 100% there will be a few people who want to buy my product, and then I scale.
